White House condemns Iran situation

(CNN) – National Security Council Spokesman Mike Hammer issued the following statement Sunday on violence in Iran"

We strongly condemn the violent and unjust suppression of civilians in Iran seeking to exercise their universal rights. Hope and history are on the side of those who peacefully seek their universal rights, and so is the United States. Governing through fear and violence is never just, and as President Obama said in Oslo – it is telling when governments fear the aspirations of their own people more than the power of any other nation.

  1. Funny......

the White House did not make these statements the other day when China sentenced one of their peaceful dissidents to 11 years in prison.....

Could it be that Obama is afraid of China and the debt they hold? So I guess we'll have selective criticism of those countries violating human rights.....what a joke.

Oooh, another strong message. Did they photocopy the last one or have the teleprompter write something new? I'm sure the Iranians are hiding under the bed at this point (or are they rolling on the floor laughing?).

Too little, too late. We should have shown support to the dissidents months ago. The Administration showed more outrage when Honduras lawfully removed a Socialist that was defying their constitution. Pathetic!

There is not reason for the boss to end his vacation he have people in place to take care of the small stuff. "Mr. Right" our enemies don't care what the President think, they just know what he will do when the time comes.

The condemnation by the NSC is absolutely correct, as is the President's eloquent statement from Oslo regarding nations' fears of the aspirations of their own citizens.

Gosh, I bet Iran is shaking in their boots now!

I wonder when Washington will wake up to the fact that the world doesn't care what we think anymore.

Of course, this whole administration and more importantly the clown President are a joke!!! Obama has been voting "Present" as a leader since he got into the office; it has been Pelosy and Reid that made the decisions in the House and the Senate and now he is again absent when it comes down to showing leadership. This guy is the biggest empty suit we could have ever found to put in the White House!!! Good job Obamanuts, good job! May all of you also lose your jobs and see what it taste like to have a socialist President at work!

  14. all the news that's fit to omit

I condemn Obama for this and his usual "dithering inaction".

Monty Python comes to mind, "Stop or I will say stop again".

How about the "man made disaster" in Detroit Barry .

Sorry sheep, your hero, his watch, his INACTION and dithering as usual.

THIS ONLY GOT STOPPED BECAUSE OF THE PASSENGERS and his own FATHER warned us of his ideals and plans.

But you nitwits have to blame Republicans or Bush somehow as that is all you gutless, inept cowards have.

HIS OWN FATHER PLEADED THAT WE STOP HIM, so Barry and company do what exactly to stop him???????

This wasn't a possible threat or a vague threat, THIS WAS HIS DAD SAYING, "STOP MY SON".

No leadership, just frequent flyer miles for barry and shelly.

I think the Democratic leader of the United States of America should send a message...just as other countries have...exercise that free speech. In Spirit, I know I support those that oppose oppression!

Yeah, like you don't buy products made in China or from any other country where people are paid little. Don't criticize the president if your no better.
