Obama friend's child hurt on Hawaiian vacation

An ambulance leaves the neighborhood where President Obama and his family are vacationing in Hawaii.
An ambulance leaves the neighborhood where President Obama and his family are vacationing in Hawaii.

HONOLULU, Hawaii (CNN) - The child of one of President Barack Obama's golf partners suffered a cut chin during the president's Hawaiian vacation Monday, prompting a stir when Obama quickly left the course so his partner could attend to the child.

The president and his entourage quickly left the Luana Hills golf course outside Honolulu and an ambulance was called to the vacation home the first family has rented on the north side of Oahu. A White House aide told CNN that the child who was hurt was treated on the scene, but could go to a hospital later as a precaution.

Neither Obama's golf partner nor the child were identified. Aides said no member of the first family was hurt in the incident, details of which were not immediately available.

The president later returned to the course.

– CNN Senior White House Correspondent Ed Henry contributed to this report.

Oh get of your high horses people, Presidents vacation all of the time even during times of hardship. Now you are all concerned about a president taking a vacation. I mean Bush was on vacation when Katrina hit and "was kept informed". This is no different.

Good job mister reporter, you get a star for a job well done. I am sure your college diploma(s) were well worth their cost for this little gem of writing. I just can not wait until you write about when one of the President's neighbor's kidss friend from school mother's hairdresser had a baby.

The President is never on vacation even when he is on vacation. I took off the same amount of time as the President and not once have I been called back to my job. So glad that he waited and did not rush to cameras until full extent of Al qaeda involvement known. I used to hate it when Bush rushed to the cameras.

I hope the child is OK and recovers quickly. A child getting hurt is always very stressful.

Guess those that whine about Obama taking a well deserved vacation, forgot about Bozo Bush's many vacations to the Crawford ranch. Typical Repubs, and their selective memory. The man deserves a vacation. Enjoy yourselves Obama family.!!!!

Seriously, this made CNN's Breaking News??? We have much more important news to cover and this pops up. And it wasn't even a serious incident.

Why is Obama in Hawaii playing golf when we just had a person try to blow a plane up on US soil?? Why isn't he in DC where he's suppose to be but never stays a full week?? If this had been Bush can you imagine would the far left would be saying now instead of covering up like they are doing for Obama???? Hey Obama we just had an atttempted terrorist attack in case you don't realize it!!!!!!

I am glad the child was not injured badly. I am not an Obama supporter but he does have to take time away from work.

Towards the comment that he is doing a wonderful job? You think? We are now within one year of his administration over 11 trillion dollars in debt, up 9 trillion from when Bush left. Unemployment has reached up to 15 to 17 million people, TARP and Cash for Clunkers only helped large banks and the major automotive industry. We have increased military forces in Iraq/Afghanastan. Our dollar is devalued. The Copenhagen Conference was a major bust. I am not sure he is doing anything to help our great nation. The only thing that I agree with one comment is God Bless our military forces who are protecting our freedoms.

I think it speaks well of the President that he immediately left his once in a long time chance to golf to see about his friend's child.

Absolutely no one should critique him for taking a couple days off to go home and relax. If he gets in ANY relaxation with all the stuff going down continually, he will do an even better job....which is saying a great deal.

    NOT NEWS – – – NOT NEWS – – – NOT NEWS

If President Obama had shot his partner in the face as did Darth Cheney, than that would have been legitimate news. However, it was a typical child scrape of a friend’s daughter. NOT NEWS!

The fact that the media is reporting it as news is more proof that the media is smothering the President and his family, and is holding on to tight. For GODS sake, loosen up.

The child didn't even require stitches, yet he sends the kid to the hospital using the Presidential motorcade. What a blatant abuse of privileges, using our tax payer money. Typical of his affirmative action, entitlement lifestyle. We need to fully investigate these people once they are thrown out of office.

    Dear Mr. President,

Can you please take a vacation?! Get away from the media. Turn your duties over to Joe Biden. Or split your operational responsibilities between Biden, Clinton, Holder, and Gates. You have done more in your first 11-months than Bush Jr. did in his first 3-years. Job well done Mr. President, but you need some serious R&R.

Just Go! Leave the media behind. Just get away, , , please!

I'm glad it was nothing serious. If CNN omitted any kind of news involving the lovely Obama family, you can bet that some of these whiners would complain. Thanks for being there, CNN.

Holy Cow. Everytime I go to cnn.com or watch them on tv to get "another perspective" on the news, I find stories like this or like the 60 minute infomercial-like loop they run as "news" during the day. It's like reading The Onion, ...but for real!
