(CNN) - Karl Rove - the former top aide to President George W. Bush - and his wife, Darby, were granted a divorce last week, family friend Dana Perino confirmed to CNN.
"The couple came to the decision mutually and amicably, and they maintain a close relationship and a strong friendship. There will be no further comment and the family requests that its privacy be respected," Perino said in an e-mail to CNN.
The two were married in 1986 and have one son.

Hasn't he spent his life decrying easy divorce and its corrosive effects on "Family Values"? I thought divorce was the easy way out for the 'Me' generation, the "instant gratification" crowd? Didn't he sit down and get counseled by his Minister and ask Jesus for guidance? Isn't that what good "Christian" Americans do? Stick with it through hard times?

I'm so glad he stood up for the sanctity of marriage and was/is so strongly opposed to gay couples marrying. Instead of denying gays the legal right to marry, the government should ban divorce. If marriage is so sacred....Anyway, let's see how long it takes for Karl to hook-up with the next Mrs. Rove. Rush is on his fourth.

Another "Family Values" champion bites the dust. I wish them both good luck. Divorce is never easy. I would like to think this event will moderate Mr. Rove's views towards others' lifestyle choices.
I could use this to say horrible things about Rove, but it's really none of my business. Divorce is hard, so I wish them the best.
