Washington (CNN) – During Hillary Clinton's first year as secretary of state, some foreign governments again gave generously to the foundation of her husband, former President Bill Clinton - but others have not.
Norway gave again last year, with a cumulative total exceeding $10 million, as did Oman, whose total is between $1 and $5 million. But according to the list made public by the Clinton Foundation, other past foreign donors - including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, the Dubai Foundation and Brunei - did not give in 2009.
During Hillary Clinton's confirmation hearings to head the State Department, some lawmakers pressed her on whether she might face a conflict of interest if foreign governments or companies gave to her husband's foundation with an eye toward currying favor with her or influencing American foreign policy.
In the end, the Clintons agreed to make public their donor lists, and to have government ethics lawyers review new donations by foreign governments.
The Clinton Foundation's mission is to fight disease and poverty around the world.
Among companies receiving government bailout money, Bank of America again donated in 2009, but prior donors AIG, Citigroup, General Motors and Freddie Mac did not give in 2009.
One interesting entry on the list: Christopher Ruddy, who wrote some of the most scathing criticisms of Bill and Hillary Clinton in the 1990s on ethics matters, and founded the conservative news agency Newsmax.
Richard Mellon Scaife, who bankrolled some of the Clintons' toughest adversaries in the 1990s, has also given to the Clinton Foundation in the past, but was not listed as a donor for 2009.

A great example of a rare individual, a past President working to help those in need. This now makes 2 of this type of individual, Carter, and Clinton, both Democrats. I wonder what that means, when only Democrats care enough about people to continue this type of work past their time in office? Why don't the Repblicans have anyone willing to do this type of work? Why don't any of them care?

Since Bill Clinton's foundation is for charitable organizations and the money goes to that, what in the heck is the point of this article.
I know....we have to pan the Democrats, we have to start confusion of the Democrats. If we as an arm of the MSM want to get the greedy, corrupt, crooked lying republicans back in office we have to do this. And we are.
The Clintons work through their foundation continues to show us that they are generous, passionate and dedicated to improving the world around them.

Bill Clinton's foundation has an impeccable record of flowing through the contributions it receives to the world's neediest. it is a shame that prying media and government eyes demand that donors be identified - as that has clearly hurt the Foundation's fund raising in 2009. Maybe if CNN spent more time investigating the motives of people contributing to Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Barney Frank, Joe Liberman, John Kerry, Chris Dodd and others, our country would run smoother with far less special interest politics
Being that there were articles indicating that groups such as Hamas were giving to Obama's campaign--why are we not seeing an article on "who" gave to Obama????

Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, Al Gore, and Barack Obama have great respect throughout the world. Our friends love them and our enemies trust them. Carter, Gore, and Obama are Nobel Prize Laureates.
The world has a lot of contempt for GW Bush, Newt Gingrich, and the nameless elderly white men in $2,000 suits who are the Republican leadership in Congress.
Don't you Conservatives wonder why the entire world holds you in contempt? I know that all of you think you have the final answer to everything. I know you think that everyone in the world is an idiot except for Conservatives. Isn't is odd that other people – all other people – hold you and your philosophy in low esteem?

People that donate to the Clinton Foundation, are Republican, Democrat, Independents, etc. They are people who make donations because they care about the serious issues in the world and our nation.

Hey, I'm a conservative guy, but what's the problem here? Bill Clinton holds no public office. He's doing good work, and unless someone has some sort of evidence that the money is being misused, leave it alone.
As for Curt's comment, I believe President George H.W. Bush has been very active in charitable endeavors, including teaming up with President Clinton several times.
This has nothing to do with Rpublicans being nosy...It has to do with Dumbacrats being corrupt....The Clinton's had shady land deals, the "suicide" friend who was going to give info to show the Clintons involvement in those land deals (somehow after his death, the proof was gone), stealing from the White House and Air Force One didn't help there image of being two big crooks, Oh and do I mention their morals? Disgracing the white house with Monica, and Hillary only staying with him for her career....Now if they weren't thieves and had better morals maybe they wouldn't get checked up on....and yes it is nice to help the children, but believe me they are doing it out of trying to look good to the public not out of the goodness of their heart...They suck!!!

It is surely difficult for the Clintons to give away...other people's money! They are hardly worth being called philanthropists as they are giving away other people's money. I am sure Hillary, Bill, and the bevy of ladies he hauls around make more money than they could handle, and that doesn't get spent on the needy.

Bill Clinton is doing the honorable thing with his foundation.
The foundation is great, but why is Bank of America spending bailout money on it? That is the REAL ISSUE!!
I don't see anything in this article or have I heard anything in the news indicating that the Clinton Foundation has used these monies for anything improper.
I hope President Clinton continues to help in America and around the world through his foundation.
