Clinton Foundation's 2009 donor list revealed

Clinton Foundation's 2009 donor list was revealed.
Clinton Foundation's 2009 donor list was revealed.

Washington (CNN) – During Hillary Clinton's first year as secretary of state, some foreign governments again gave generously to the foundation of her husband, former President Bill Clinton - but others have not.

Norway gave again last year, with a cumulative total exceeding $10 million, as did Oman, whose total is between $1 and $5 million. But according to the list made public by the Clinton Foundation, other past foreign donors - including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, the Dubai Foundation and Brunei - did not give in 2009.

During Hillary Clinton's confirmation hearings to head the State Department, some lawmakers pressed her on whether she might face a conflict of interest if foreign governments or companies gave to her husband's foundation with an eye toward currying favor with her or influencing American foreign policy.

In the end, the Clintons agreed to make public their donor lists, and to have government ethics lawyers review new donations by foreign governments.

The Clinton Foundation's mission is to fight disease and poverty around the world.

Among companies receiving government bailout money, Bank of America again donated in 2009, but prior donors AIG, Citigroup, General Motors and Freddie Mac did not give in 2009.

One interesting entry on the list: Christopher Ruddy, who wrote some of the most scathing criticisms of Bill and Hillary Clinton in the 1990s on ethics matters, and founded the conservative news agency Newsmax.

Richard Mellon Scaife, who bankrolled some of the Clintons' toughest adversaries in the 1990s, has also given to the Clinton Foundation in the past, but was not listed as a donor for 2009.

what is the big deal regarding the list of donors to FORMER president clinton's highly successful charitable organization? only minions of faux news would try to connect an institution providing healthcare and food to the world's needy with some kind of fabricated conspiracy.

how about this – the clintons have released their list. get bush and cheney to release the list of the attendees of the meetings that shaped the disastrous energy non-policy that we suffered under during their administration.

new year's resolution to the 28% of americans that still identify themselves as republicans – get a life.

None of you who question this article as "news" seemed to notice that Bank of America is on the list of donors.

Bank of America which apparently needed to take money from me to stay solvent turns around a gives to a charitable organization?

If Bank of America wants to give money to others it should first become solvent then it will have the means give.

I also find it fascinating that Norway decided (a) to give away its citizens money to a charity (b) run by a former President of the United States.

My first point is why doesn't Norway just allow its private citizens to give to charity (Clinton or otherwise) if they see fit?

My second point is why would the government of Norway decide that the Clinton foundation is the best way to donate $10M to charity? Do you really think Norway's giving was "charity" or do you think there is some expectation in return?

Well, I guess it just always boils down to what the acceptable meaning of is is for each individual one of us. Corruption has evolved to new levels of openness in our Government from the top down! 2010 is here, time for America to make some changes....dethrone and disrupt King and Queen Clinton's plans for a Global reign!

The conservative Republicans hate seeing someone do something to help prevent deadly disease, hunger and poverty around the world, thats the reason they fight so hard to find wrong. The party of family value's only cares for family if they are rich. lol, also reminds me that the Republican party family value people are the Govenor of South Carolina, who thinks it's OK to have a lil something on the side and Karl Rove whose idea of marriage is to ditch the wife after she has helped raise kid and has a few years on her.

Open, honest, and accountable. The Clintons are doing a good job with this one. Unlike the Bush administration which sold the Interior Department to big oil. We used the term "in bed with big oil" but little did we know they ACTUALLY WERE SLEEPING with them. Bush/Cheney encouraged those folks to do whatever it took (including hiring prostitutes and pimping good looking employees) to keep the fat cats happy.

This is foundation actually helps people. Anything the repubs create just helps themselves to our wallets.

Why does the Unhinged Left (evidenced by the comments in this forum) get so upset about the reasonable expectation that this Foundation reveal its funding sources? Take your meds.

Here we go again. The money to the Clinton Foundation is for Bill's work. If he is willing to help eliminate poverty and disease then his foundation should receive money from various sources.

It is amazing that the Republican ties to governments of other countries does not get reported. Of course, they are not in power just trying to stop every single move made by anyone in the administration.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has done a good job. She has been as even-handed as possible considering the state of the world. She has worked untiringly for this government.

What her husband does is not relevant. It is time we stopped lumping the actions of husbands of wives together on every issue. I would hope most wives in this country are capable of making up their own minds and disagreeing with their partners when necessary. Most women I know do just that. We are not puppets on a string! Give it up already.

As long as they release the list and ethics lawyers review all donations, I don't see a problem with it. The Clinton Foundation does a lot of very valuable work, and I appreciate the support of those organizations who donate to it.

Cutting taxes and spending versus tax and spend (paying your way) during war is very simple to figure out regarding any trial of money. The Republican ideology leaves the country broke and the Democratic ideology leaves the county with little to no deficit by the end of any administration's eight year term. Just look at the facts. Compare the deficits in our history after any Republican/Democratic president left office. It's astounding. Republicans claim they cut spending.....but not among themselves. They cut spending on the middle class. So whoever runs Obama...I'm sure it's the middle class. And since there's more middle class and poor than Rich racists....I'm sure Obama will win in 2012....

This guy still continues to swindle millions from foreign countries. And as for the only 2 x- Democrat presidents care enough about people to continue this type of work past their time in office. Lets put this in perspective. The only two that wants to make sure everyone see's what they are doing. There are many who do it and dont need the "approval of men"

Note all of the foreign government ties. Doesn't Clinton provide aid to Americans, or is this just another part of the one-world government Clinton and Obama are supporting?
