Gibbs: Bombing suspect has provided 'actionable intelligence'

Washington (CNN) - The FBI received "actionable intelligence" from Nigerian bombing suspect Umar Farouk AbdulMutallab in the first hours after his arrest, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said Tuesday.

According to authorities, AbdulMutallab tried to detonate explosives hidden in his underwear as a flight from Amsterdam, Netherlands, made its final approach to Detroit, Michigan, on Christmas Day. The device failed to fully detonate, instead setting off a fire at the man's seat.

AbdulMutallab was arrested on charges of attempting to destroy an aircraft. He will face his first court hearings Friday.

U.S. authorities have said AbdulMutallab may have received training from al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, which is based in Yemen.

The press is so pathetic I'm not sure why they still exist. It doesn't matter what the terrorist (i.e., not suspect) provided. It matters what he didn't provide. Had he been treated as an enemy combatant, we would have got more information from him. Had we employed enhanced interogation methods, we would have got even more information from him.'

Who cares what he provided, find out what he didn't provide and find out when and why he stopped talking. Do your jobs.

Was that before the administration told him read him his Miranda rights at the behest of their big lawyer contributors? Gibbs did not say that did he. Liberals are worthless liars who are tying to get all of our money and then kill us all so they can give the country to Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro. When will the American people get it, Obama lies. Where is that promised transparency.

"Bombing suspect has provided 'actionable intelligence'"

All without the use of torture and all done within the limits of our laws. Amazing!!! – or should I say refreshing.

    Few hours without tortures?

Just for the record: Did we have to use "enhanced interrogation techniques" to obtain said "actionable intelligence"? No? Imagine that. It CAN be done without reducing us to the same animalistic level of international (and some domestic) terrorists.

Did you get all that, Dickie?

Someone please throw up all the other straw-men that Obama has employed. We got intelligence from him therefore it is the right policy (ignore the fact that we could have got much more intelligence)

Our legal system can handle it (ignore the fact that it doesn't matter, under the Geneva Conventions, he can be treated as an enemy combatant)

If you don't believe our legal system can handle it, you are anti-American (ignore the fact that we unnecessarily put him in a more restrictive environement, kind of like spotting your opponent in a sporting match a couple of points, just to show how strong you are).

Obama is an idiot. Anyone who voted for him is an idiot. Anyone who still believes his crap put idiots to shame.

It will be good when the next administration takes over and makes public all the boneheaded reasoning (or should I say lack of reasoning, because there is no reasoning involved) of this administration.

How do you go about arguing with someone who is just clueless?

  7. And why would he provide any useful information????

He has a lawyer, was read his Miranda rights, knows he will not be waterboarded, and has a comfy room with 3 squares a day......
so why would he feel he has to tell us anything....unless he's Mr. Niceguy....but wait a minute...didn't he try to blow up the plane?.....Mr. Gibbs...this is all very confusing......

  8. Mr. Gibbs......

he is telling the FBI what he was told to tell them by his Al Qaeda superiors.......he has nothing to fear from this administration since they have already said they will not use enhanced interrogation techniques....
and will not send him to Gitmo.......Mr. Gibbs...I suggest you do not take any action on what he is telling you.....

Gibbs is the least professional spokesman for the White House ever. Another reliable source has to verify this before I believe anything he says.

Actionable intelligence I believe can be obtained from any terrorist suspect if he/she doesn't know our justice system; but they are more likely to know and be prepared for torture or Gitmo. I think the Obama administration are smart in handling this terrorist in this manner rather than to go down the same path to nowhere.

    Good Job.

Alot of the interrogations are no more than revenge torture on individual cowards from cowards. You can get more reliable information using "sugar" over "vinegar".

Are we going to be told about the extent of the terrorist's injuries? At this point we can only imagine ( and hope for the best).

Is it as "actionable" as the information his father gave? We saw how far that went, didn't we?

There are TRAITOR hold-overs from the Bush-Cheney regime...

...in our Secret Service, CIA, FBI, and Pentagon...

...the Fort Hood shooter, state dinner crashers, and would be Christmas bomber...

    ...are proof positive...

...President Obama has got to purge these agencies of ALL bush-Cheney hold-overs...

...otherwise we're going to have Civil War here in America...
