(CNN) - Liz Cheney is echoing her father's recent criticism of President Obama's response to the attempted terrorist attack on Christmas Day, saying Wednesday the president has not taken sufficient national security steps in the wake of the botched plane bombing.

Cheney, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney and the founder of the nonprofit group Keep America Safe, released a statement calling on President Obama to reverse his decision to close the detention facility in Guantanamo Bay, and to overrule the Justice Department's decision to try 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed before a civilian court in New York City.

Cheney also called on President Obama to classify the attempted Christmas Day bomber, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, as an enemy combatant to be tried before a military tribunal.

"President Obama has weakened American security by treating terror as a law enforcement matter, refusing to use every tool at his disposal to prevent attacks, and taking his eye off the ball. America's homeland security and counterterrorism systems will continue to erode in the absence of strong, consistent, unwavering presidential stewardship," said Cheney. "It's time for the President to make defending this nation his top priority."

Liz Cheney wants the United States to be a military dictatorship, referably without the constitution and rule of law just as her hateful old man does. The apple never falls far from the tree. No news here, just more of the same failed fear politics.

Why do we care what Liz Cheney has to say about anything? She's the daughter of a fascist and warlord. Do we now give lip service to the off-springs of racist ex-politicians? She's not important...toilet paper is important.

When Dick Cheney faces justice (hopefully the firing squad) for the deaths of American soldiers who were sent to fight a phony war in Iraq, not to mention the tens of thousands of American servicemen who were wounded and maimed for life, one can only hope his lying, hateful, fear-mongering scumbag daughter Liz will be standing next to him. Dick Cheney is a criminal walking free. His daughter is nothing more than a biased "c" word whose ignorant hypocritical rhetoric amounts to treason.

I can't help but wonder how much profit Chainy is making off this nonprofit "group". My daughter said Liz Chainy is seeking the spotlight in her dads shadow. As the world turns.

And this is news WHY? The woman has credibility WHY? Or are you getting your talking points now from Politico? I believe the operative word here is "echo" – as in "hollow".

Question for Liz Cheney: Do you honestly think the American public cares what you think? Your father is no longer the Vice President and you are no longer the Vice President's daughter. You and he both need to simply GO AWAY.

the republican party today has no shame. they will and do politicize everything even national security. from where i sit the GOP has no credibility on anything because they basically screwed everything up when they were in charge. people like cheney, palin and the rest of the so-called leaders of the GOP are the reasons why i would never, ever vote for the GOP. if they really beleive the moderates and independents are going to vote for them then all i can say is good luck! God bless our president and his family.

I am a former military officer and prosecuting attorney. I can tell you that we have an outstanding justice system and some of the most secure holding facilities in the world. We have tried and convicted some of the world's most dangerous people. I have complete confidence in our justice system to deal with any enemy that we have. It is insulting that Mr. Cheney has so little faith in the United States Attorney's Office and our system of justice. I should think that a former Vice President of the United States should have a better opinion of this country's system of justice. Contrary to what Mr. Cheney thinks, America is stronger, not weaker when we adheare to our values. We only become weaker if we discard our values out of mindless fear.

I'm confused. Why do we report or care about what Cheney's daughter has to say? I'm borderline about caring what Cheney himself says, especially since he has never had anything constructive to say and chooses only to belittle and insult his opponents.

Liz Cheney appears to be thinking clearly here.
In my opinion, both issues are being mishandled by the Administration.
Zero-tolerance should be shown these transgressors.
If we start molly-coddling terrorists, our safety will deteriorate.
So keep Guantanamo open, and use military tribunals with these people.
However, ensure some kind of civilian oversight.
Our safety should not be secured by the loss of our ideals.
That would make us no better than these terrorists.

  22. All the news that is fit to omit

Here we have a future star in the Republican party, and she is what you liberal cowards hate, she is smarter than you, has good ideas and she is a woman.

She is hated because she doesn't fit into the supposed female dogma that NOW and other organizations want their women to fall under.

Enough facts, time for the liberals to wake up, it is the crack of noon afterall and the mailman already came and Oprah isn't on yet, TIME TO SLING stupidity.

Barry, Dodd and the others see a sinking ship, SEE YOU in 2012 coward.
