Washington (CNN) – President Obama’s top budget official acknowledged Wednesday fathering a child out of wedlock, less than two weeks after announcing his engagement to another woman.
Office of Management and Budget Director Peter Orszag and the mother of the child, Claire Milonas, released a statement announcing the birth of their daughter soon after the New York Post reported the news on its Web site.
“We were in a committed relationship until the spring of 2009,” Orszag and Milonas said in a joint statement. “In November, Claire gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Although we are no longer together, we are both thrilled she is happy and healthy, and we would hope that everyone will respect her privacy.”
Orszag recently announced his engagement to ABC News Correspondent Bianna Golodryga.
A source close to Orszag, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, emphasized that the “relationship was clearly over before he met Bianna.”
“They are two adults who are working out what’s best for everyone,” the source said of Orszag and Milonas.
Orszag has two children from a previous marriage.

Why is this news..............Who cares. I only clicked the link to verify that this story echoed the headline. I thought for a second maybe the story would be about something else or at least something interesting........
A politician engaged in relations when not married to the other person in question? Shocking....
Why is this news, CNN? Really? Cant we focus on more important issues.
This is news, really? I think conservative America needs to stop pushing their morals and expectations on other people. Get over it people and get upset about something that really matters.
And Who really cares about this???
Congratulations Peter!
Why is this news? Aren't there more pressing issues going on it the world today?
Really, Wedlock who cares...is this really news..it's 2010 not the 1950's!!!
Oh the horror....Big deal how is this news.
Ye without sin cast the first stone.
Why is this news? Sad that someone felt this merited a story on CNN...
Whose business is this?
Out of wedlock? I thought the year was 2010, not 1950!
This story makes me lose respect for CNN. This is not news, it 2010 and CNN thinks an "out-of-wedlock" child is news worth? This is Orszag's personal business.
Why is this news?
As a conservative young man from a state that turned blue for Obama, I am a little uneasy that this made the news. While I do think that children born out of wedlock face a much tougher childhood, I don't think this is national news, much less news for the so called "Political Ticker"
What about this news is worthy of the political ticker other than it involves a federal bureaucrat. PLEASE get back to the real news and out of people's private lives. Gosh, CNN is starting to look like TMZ.
Is this 1954 all of a sudden? Who cares about a baby born out of wed-lock? If all parties involved know and the baby is being loved and cared for then why does the public need to know? Aren't there more important things going on in the world today to be reporting on?
Obviously he wasn't THAT committed if he didn't stick around long enough for the birth of the baby – and not only that – he's engaged to a different woman already!
What with the headline? Is this the 1800's? Since when is an out of wedlock baby news?
And this is news? why?
How exactly is this news?
Another sad story. it's the children who suffer because of irresponsible parenting. Say what you will; believe what you want but the fact remains: it's the children who suffer.
Congratulations to the parents of the happy, healthy baby!
Even though I'm a Republican I speak for everyone when I say WHO CARES!
And this is news, because?
What's with the headline about the child being born out of wedlock? That has nothing to do with the story and is in fact not even mentioned in the text. Also, here's a newsflash for the newspeople, it is not illegal or even scandalous anymore for children to be born out of wedlock. What was the point of this story?
