Obama official confirms birth of child

White House Budget Director Peter Orszag released a statement Wednesday confirming the birth of an out-of-wedlock daughter.
White House Budget Director Peter Orszag released a statement Wednesday confirming the birth of an out-of-wedlock daughter.

Washington (CNN) – President Obama’s top budget official acknowledged Wednesday fathering a child out of wedlock, less than two weeks after announcing his engagement to another woman.

Office of Management and Budget Director Peter Orszag and the mother of the child, Claire Milonas, released a statement announcing the birth of their daughter soon after the New York Post reported the news on its Web site.

“We were in a committed relationship until the spring of 2009,” Orszag and Milonas said in a joint statement. “In November, Claire gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Although we are no longer together, we are both thrilled she is happy and healthy, and we would hope that everyone will respect her privacy.”

Orszag recently announced his engagement to ABC News Correspondent Bianna Golodryga.

A source close to Orszag, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, emphasized that the “relationship was clearly over before he met Bianna.”

“They are two adults who are working out what’s best for everyone,” the source said of Orszag and Milonas.

Orszag has two children from a previous marriage.

The most stunning part of this announcement is that this man is engaged to Bianna Golodryga. What?! Really. Wow. I should've asked her out.. :)

I'm sorry, but exactly how is this different from all of the other... the other..., uh, the other... "things" that have happened to all of the people in this president's administration. Call me old-fashioned, but isn't anyone ashamed of such behavior anymore?

Who cares. This isn't the 1950s. Don't we have better things to worry about than some Joe Schmoe aid knocking up a chick?

And this is news? How is this anyone else's business? I'm going to have to stop coming back to CNN to read news. Today the "Balloon Boy" dad is on the front page all day? How about sticking to important news that really matters.

He's single. He's not thumping the Bible shrieking about family values. He's actually intelligent, not just a weasel.

    So, you're point is?

Why is the fact that the child is being born out of wedlock even worth a mention? This lightly veiled bias shouldn't have made it onto this site to begin with.

You have to be kidding me? This is how far CNN has sunk? This is NOT newsworthy! This is a common everyday occurence. It's all about ratings and people who find this interesting and "pointing" fingers,...get some kind of life, please. I could care less if this gets posted or not. That is called censorship and "leading people on". The truth is, we ALL have skeletons in our own closets and some things are NOT news...Sam

  17. Welcome to 1980

Seriously? This is news? I know more people who were born out of wedlock, than in. Is this supposed to reflect positively or negatively on this man? With the divorce rate the way it is, and conservatives doing everything they can to further reduce who can be married, how is this even worthy of commentary?

Up your standards CNN – seriously.

Unbelievable to me that this would be a reportable story, or that it would carry the title it did.

Now the press is reporting on out of wedlock babies??? Had he been married I suppose he could have worn the scarlet colored A on his clothes.

Orszag and Ms. Milonas deserve their privacy, but its a virtual certainty that the same courtesy would NEVER have been extended to a Bush WH employee in a similar situation by the media generally and CNN in particular.

    Would.Not.Happen.

Why is this news? Because he is in government? Because he is a man? Because Out-ofwedlock- is so rare in US? Because we are so desperate for news? and why is this cnn'c or anyone lese's business. I just read the ticker line and got angry and wrote this!! Is this considered news today?? Is there such thing as privacy in this country anymore?? I am so often disgusted with politics now a days and long for the days when I was younger and didnt care! Unfortunately I do care, but the system and all those shoving this down my throat are playing all of us for fools and passing this crap as news.

Why is this news? He is not the first nor the last person to find themselves in this predicament. By all accounts, the situation is being managed in a mature and responsible manner.

And the reason why this is a CNN worthy news is because...oh, I forget, CNN is just the National Enquirer in a nice corporate suit! Please report real news and not stuff like this.
