Obama official confirms birth of child

White House Budget Director Peter Orszag released a statement Wednesday confirming the birth of an out-of-wedlock daughter.
White House Budget Director Peter Orszag released a statement Wednesday confirming the birth of an out-of-wedlock daughter.

Washington (CNN) – President Obama’s top budget official acknowledged Wednesday fathering a child out of wedlock, less than two weeks after announcing his engagement to another woman.

Office of Management and Budget Director Peter Orszag and the mother of the child, Claire Milonas, released a statement announcing the birth of their daughter soon after the New York Post reported the news on its Web site.

“We were in a committed relationship until the spring of 2009,” Orszag and Milonas said in a joint statement. “In November, Claire gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Although we are no longer together, we are both thrilled she is happy and healthy, and we would hope that everyone will respect her privacy.”

Orszag recently announced his engagement to ABC News Correspondent Bianna Golodryga.

A source close to Orszag, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, emphasized that the “relationship was clearly over before he met Bianna.”

“They are two adults who are working out what’s best for everyone,” the source said of Orszag and Milonas.

Orszag has two children from a previous marriage.

Who cares if he had an out of wedlock child. It is sad that people waste so much time and money trying to dig up dirt. Why don't they use their time more constructively. If they are so concerned about someones personal live why don't they volunteer at a homeless shelter, or help at a home for unwed mothers. It would teach them about what is really important in life.

It just a sad waste of time and energy.

In the grand scheme of life/government/etc, does/should this really matter to anybody but the families that are involved. The answer is a big NO and CNN should be ashamed that they are dealing in this type of journalism. Is it any wonder why people do not want to get involved in the gov't sector.

Peter Orszag has been busy planting the seeds for a new and stronger economy, and clearly he has also been planting his seed in various women. Go Peter!

"WH aide has out-of-wedlock baby?" Really? And you consider this news? I've never felt this before about a CNN story that I can remember, but I can't imagine anything more invasive and less appropriate to feature in a story.

Could someone provide some analysis of the significance of this information to CNN's readership?

Certainly, no one will have a problem with a baby being born......whether married or not....surely you would not have wanted anything else to happen.......I pray God's blessings on her life and that her life will be filled with lots of love.

So what? Is this really all you can find to discuss? Let's not forget, if he was gay this is the only way he could have a child in most of the country. That's the bigger tragedy.

LOL. This is news? What is this, the 1950s? Wow, an out of wedlock baby. Next thing you know some high up official will be in the news because his wife works instead of staying home with the kids.
