Washington (CNN) – President Obama’s top budget official acknowledged Wednesday fathering a child out of wedlock, less than two weeks after announcing his engagement to another woman.
Office of Management and Budget Director Peter Orszag and the mother of the child, Claire Milonas, released a statement announcing the birth of their daughter soon after the New York Post reported the news on its Web site.
“We were in a committed relationship until the spring of 2009,” Orszag and Milonas said in a joint statement. “In November, Claire gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Although we are no longer together, we are both thrilled she is happy and healthy, and we would hope that everyone will respect her privacy.”
Orszag recently announced his engagement to ABC News Correspondent Bianna Golodryga.
A source close to Orszag, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, emphasized that the “relationship was clearly over before he met Bianna.”
“They are two adults who are working out what’s best for everyone,” the source said of Orszag and Milonas.
Orszag has two children from a previous marriage.

Congratulations to all involved. The birth of a child is always great, and so are engagements. I would like to see this article as a birth announcement instead of a chastisement.
Not political and not fair for debate. My overly republican family members, who I am certain have had a ridiculous number of out of marriage relationships, are probably going to use this to talk about how "evil" democrats are. So there is really no political reasoning behind any of this, other than it just empowers the ridiculousness of the republican right, and they're going to use this as a political attack against all democrats.
I am very happy they are taking care oif "their business". Best of luck to all.
Seriously? This is news? I cannot understand why someone would even consider this important for the public to know. Please spend your time finding stories that are news worthy!
You have to be kidding me! Why is this even considered news? What is this fascination we have with people's private lives?
only in America is this news. What is this? the 1700s? We going to burn them at the stake now?
CNN, you are fanning flames and trying to pit people against each other.
Overall though, this man is a joke. He is only where he is for one of two reasons which can't be mentioned in 2010.
He sure does move fast on other women though. Perhaps he should be neutered.
Reporting this as news is a joke right? Quick! Call the morality police!
wow.. what a shocker..someone has an out of wedlock baby and goes on with their life! newsworthy? I don't think so!
Hey, welcome to the 21st century. No one says 'out of wedlock' anymore. This is certainly not newsworthy.
this is Newsworthy.....I don't think so
Now, THIS IS NOT NEWS! Love CNN any day. That's his private life. So many politicos have done worse.....Tom Brady too, get one preggo, marry another. Leave him alone and lets focus on why we are on this terror list.
Why is this news?
Why is this "news"? Sounds more like gossip.
Why is this news? I'm sure the repubs will have fun criticizing because we no they do nothing wrong. How will elect a president in ten years? If we judge them for pass drug use, premarital sex, sexual orintation, religion, or all the other stuff that life has to offer, we will have to elect someone from another country.
Who cares. I mean really. Is this actually news worthy or CNN picking sides again?
I would like to know why is this a big deal? we do not live in a perfect world although some people seem to think we do, i am sure that this is not the first time someone has had a baby out of wedlock and it won't be the last, please cnn find some real news and cut this crap.
Is CNN going to compete with the National Enquirer now as a rag whose main purpose is to dig up dirt & try to ruin lives?
This is a personal situation between the people involved. While I don't necessarily approve of any child being born out of wedlock– this is THEIR busniess, not OURS.
Where were the stories about Bush staffers in similar sitruations?? Not on CNN– which is exactly where this one should NOT be.
Why this is new is beyond me. It would have been more appropriate under some local paper's birth announcements instead of some sensational headline with the word wedlock in it. Who uses that word anymore? Furthermore, who in this day and age care if it was in or out of wedlock? I hope the baby is healthy and congratulations to the parents!
Why is this even news? Good for them. Happy it's a healthy birth and healthy child. Move on to something that is newsworthy.
Will we soon get updates on pimples erupting just before the prom? Will it be news that some people buy their cloths off the rack? This is nothing more than an invasion of privacy, unless the aide was the architect of restoring healthcare insurance payments to midwifes (saving taxpayers millions but hurting for-profit hospitals by denying unnecessary procedure billings... maybe THAT would be news). Otherwise, move on.
It seems that most of the children born to celebrites are out of wedlock. What about all of those children born to sports stars and esp Hollywood residents? It seems the norm these days. Birth control is easily obtained so these people must be having these illigitimate children on purpose.
Why is this newsworthy?
If two consenting adults have accepted their responsibilities as parents, decide to no longer be a couple, WHOSE BUSINESS IS IT and WHY IS IT NEWS??!?!?!?
Is this serious? I saw the headline and thought this was a retro article from the 1950's! Wedlock?! Do people even use that word anymore?
So why is this news? Two people adults, believing at the time that they were in love and were going to have a lasting relationship!
Get it out of the media. EH?
