Washington (CNN) – President Obama’s top budget official acknowledged Wednesday fathering a child out of wedlock, less than two weeks after announcing his engagement to another woman.
Office of Management and Budget Director Peter Orszag and the mother of the child, Claire Milonas, released a statement announcing the birth of their daughter soon after the New York Post reported the news on its Web site.
“We were in a committed relationship until the spring of 2009,” Orszag and Milonas said in a joint statement. “In November, Claire gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Although we are no longer together, we are both thrilled she is happy and healthy, and we would hope that everyone will respect her privacy.”
Orszag recently announced his engagement to ABC News Correspondent Bianna Golodryga.
A source close to Orszag, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, emphasized that the “relationship was clearly over before he met Bianna.”
“They are two adults who are working out what’s best for everyone,” the source said of Orszag and Milonas.
Orszag has two children from a previous marriage.

Why on earth is this being talked about
GET A LIFE PEOPLE ...
"Child out of wedlock?" What is this? 1955? Why is this news? Ted Turner really needs to come back to CNN.
I am definitely not a fan of Obama or anyone in his administration, but this information is quite frankly nobody's business except these three adults and the child.
News like this goes too far.
so much for morals,poor kid
CNN I think you have stooped to a new low. You just put these 2 (what seem to be decent folks) up for public consumption and ridicule. What once (out of common decency) was left to be a private matter is spread accross the world. Nothing is sacred, everything and everyone is fair game in the 24 hour news cycle. You knw the wackos that are out ther and you put their names on the internet. He is an aid not a politician. He is not for your chew them up spit them out machine. Shame on you.
and why is this anyone's business? don't we have enough things to think about these days?
Dear CNN: Who cares? Choose between real news or sensational gossip and stop trying to pass off one for the other.
Shame on you CNN. This isn't newsworthy. I expect this TMZ, not a "credible" news source.
Is this really news in this day and age? So his relationship with the mother didn't work out, but he is thrilled to have a daughter and he and the mother obviously get along well enough to make a joint statement when some desperate for news reporter chose to ruin the privacy of the mother and child.
I wish the best for his upcoming marriage and for the ex-girlfriend and their daughter. And as a single parent myself, I sincerely would like to tell you, CNN, that this is neither news-worthy nor anyone's business. Let's focus on things like poverty, the homeless and our soldiers, rather than the gossip magazines idea of "news."
who cares? is this the 17th century?
Wow, nice 1950's style story CNN. Why not the headline "Obama aide fathers bastard, unknown if child will be baptized."
Who cares? This is not news.
Is that something new? What is this 1972? I do not understand the point of the story! That is more common than child in wedlock! Come on.
This is not news. It is a private and personal matter, and is no body's business. Why is this even being reported as news.
I hardly think that having what you refer to as an "out-of-wedlock" child counts as news. What century are you living in to give this "story" space on your website. Who the heck cares?
Who still uses terms like "out of wedlock"
Child out of wedlock – seriously?
I suppose the same article was printed when Cheney's grandchild was born to his daughter and her female partner?
Why is a baby born out of wed-lock news? Does the woman need to wear a Scarlet letter now?
Really? Why is this in the news? Why do I – or why does anyone else – care that a White House budget official's girlfriend had a baby out of wedlock? Trash journalism for a society that thrives on feeling better about itself at the expense of others' private affairs. The only thing I care about Peter Orszag is that he is capable of doing the job for which he was hired. His private life is none of my business .
Are you kidding me with this post? This sounds like a Fox news bulletin that tends to not look at the glass house of Palin manor before they throw stones. This is absolutely absurd and a complete waste of web space. Seriously, headlines like this make this web page look more like a tabloid than a news site.
Oh the shame of it. An out of wedlock birth!
And it's important to announce this guy had an out of wedlock child why?
"Out of Wedlock baby?" Seriously?! Is this 1958?
They are adults. Adults have complicated relationships. Also, he's an AID... what possible business of ours is any of this?
Shame on your CNN. Way to become yet another source for tabloid news.
This is news? People have out-of-wedlock babies every day.
"Out-of-wedlock"
Who writes these stories?
This verbage is outdated to say the least.
And, is it really relevant?
