Washington (CNN) - President Obama will take direct responsibility for administration mistakes when he releases a new report on the December 25 terror incident, according to a senior administration official familiar with the president's remarks.
But he is not planning to fire anyone for the foul-up, the official said.
"He will say, 'Here are the warts; I'm responsible,' " said the senior administration official, who requested anonymity because aides were not authorized to discuss the remarks before they're delivered by the president.
The official said the president believes that previous administrations would "play hide the ball" and not come clean with the American people when things go wrong, so he wants to be direct about what needs to be fixed, but the official said the president does not want this process to devolve into finger-pointing.

I am still unemployed, but I forgive you. This situation should have been taken care of, before you become a President. The last administration should have FIXED it already.

For Obama to admit he's responsible is merely stating the obvious. However, the 'system' is made up of people. In this case it wasn't a computer crash, it was a people screw up. Who missed the ball, and what is Obama doing about it? By the way, it doesn't matter what previous administrations would have done, it matters what Obama does, and so far he hasn't done squat.
I have trouble blaming the President because everyone involved was brought in by Bush and the systems involved were setup by Bush. I'm interested to know who leaked to the media that the kid's dad had warned us. Everyone is reporting but no one is saying how they found out.

Nope. Secretary Napolitano needs to go. Her statement that "all is well" was foolish and patronizing. She seems totally out of touch and milk toast. Obama is full of it. Even when he says he is responsible, he doesn't mean it. He has no idea how the Bush Admin would have handled this.....and who cares? It's his show, not Bush's.
All this from the man who said they would debate health care reform live on C Span......you know...so they could come clean on who wanted what.

I'm a strong supporter of the President, but on this issue he is wrong.
Some people in high levels of responsibility for this fiasco should lose their jobs.
This cannot and should be condoned as "business as usual" with no accountablility for several different agency mistakes.
Why did the previous occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue drop the investigation into the Cole bombing? Why was all the debris from the WTC loaded up and carted away to parts unknown before a thorough investigation could take place?
The commander and chief is correct he hired the people thats slipping up and he is responsible for there actions .
