President Obama will take direct responsibility for administration makes when he releases a new report on the December 25 terror incident.

Washington (CNN) - President Obama will take direct responsibility for administration mistakes when he releases a new report on the December 25 terror incident, according to a senior administration official familiar with the president's remarks.

But he is not planning to fire anyone for the foul-up, the official said.

"He will say, 'Here are the warts; I'm responsible,' " said the senior administration official, who requested anonymity because aides were not authorized to discuss the remarks before they're delivered by the president.

The official said the president believes that previous administrations would "play hide the ball" and not come clean with the American people when things go wrong, so he wants to be direct about what needs to be fixed, but the official said the president does not want this process to devolve into finger-pointing.

Hard to believe Obama will take responsibilty for anything, I am sure he will try and find a way to blame Bush.....even though, we know Bush kept us safe and Obama has undone those Bush policies.....look for more attempted attacks under Obamas watch.

At least he isn't a coward like Bush and Chenny. He admitts mistakes. The Bush and Chenny duo made no mistakes according to them, but they left America in the biggest mess I can remember in my lifetime.
Those 2 destrpyed America. Gave a tax cut during 2 wars. Real smart!

    Dear Obama,

I am still unemployed, but I forgive you. This situation should have been taken care of, before you become a President. The last administration should have FIXED it already.

I'm just glad you are the one doing it with calm and diligence and you didnt come out SCREAMING TERROR and green light, red light, yellow light and every light in between.

Just remember to not treat 99.9% like the crazy FEW!!! Otherwise, we will be called the other North Korea.

Thank You and God Bless America

Bottomline, YOU are not to BLAME. The last dying torch should have taken care of it, the last 8 years.

The GOP is already preparing divisive hateful responses. But other than "he should say TERROR more"....they will have no Positive Feedback. Sad

I can't wait to hear the spin Liz Cheney, Dick Cheney and Republicans will put on this announcement by the President.

I would like to see credibility demanded from those with the responsibility of protecting country, who put growing their empires, power and refuse to communicate with one another. There is not and has never been cooperation among them and this has to end now.

  12. all the news that's fit to omit

So he is going to take the blame and rightfully so, but then talk smack of previous administrations but he doesn't "want it to delve into finger pointing"?

So the coward will say one thing, but really mean something else?

Can he just FINALLY take over as President, admit the screw up and not blame any other admin?

C-SPAN for healthcare debates – LIES

Nobody making less than 250,000 will have higher taxes – LIES

Taxing healthcare plans will not happen when I am president – LIES

    I am disgusted.

Now That is a President! It's what I expect from any other person I respect... why not demand it of my Commander-in-Chief. The Greatest men in our history have taken this route...

  14. Obama = WORST president EVER

How comforting....Obama actually admits he's incompetent.

I guess the "George Bush Did It" excuse has worn too thin?

For Obama to admit he's responsible is merely stating the obvious. However, the 'system' is made up of people. In this case it wasn't a computer crash, it was a people screw up. Who missed the ball, and what is Obama doing about it? By the way, it doesn't matter what previous administrations would have done, it matters what Obama does, and so far he hasn't done squat.

I have trouble blaming the President because everyone involved was brought in by Bush and the systems involved were setup by Bush. I'm interested to know who leaked to the media that the kid's dad had warned us. Everyone is reporting but no one is saying how they found out.

But I think it’s healthy for someone take to responsibility. Now if the Republicans will stop politicizing the issue we can move on.

Nope. Secretary Napolitano needs to go. Her statement that "all is well" was foolish and patronizing. She seems totally out of touch and milk toast. Someone needs to take charge, and obviously she has not. No second chances on this (third, fourth, fifith?). You don't do your job, you lose your job. Simple enough.

"The official said President Obama believes that previous administrations would "play hide the ball" and not come clean with the American people..."

Obama is full of it. Even when he says he is responsible, he doesn't mean it. He has no idea how the Bush Admin would have handled this.....and who cares? It's his show, not Bush's.

All this from the man who said they would debate health care reform live on C Span......you know...so they could come clean on who wanted what.

Good job! Take responsibility and focus on fixing the process rather than have everyone finger point and nothing get done like the last guy! aka Katrina and the last 4 yrs.

I'm a strong supporter of the President, but on this issue he is wrong.

Some people in high levels of responsibility for this fiasco should lose their jobs.

This cannot and should be condoned as "business as usual" with no accountablility for several different agency mistakes.

Why did the previous occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue drop the investigation into the Cole bombing? Why was all the debris from the WTC loaded up and carted away to parts unknown before a thorough investigation could take place?
