Palin to speak at major GOP event

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will speak at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in April.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will not be speaking at this year's Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, but she has accepted an invitation to speak at a higher profile event that could have implications for the 2012 presidential race.

Palin will speak at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans, a major gathering of Republican officials, donors and activists from 14 southern states, organizers announced Thursday.

"I'm looking forward to addressing conservative activists from across the south at the 2010 Southern Republican Leadership Conference," Palin said in a statement. "This is a great opportunity to listen and speak to those who are helping to set the direction of our party."

A Palin confidante said the governor is not being paid to speak at the event.

Political watchers will be paying close attention, and not just because several potential presidential candidates are expected to attend. The SRLC - "the most prominent Republican event outside of a Republican National Convention," the organization boasts - also conducts a presidential straw poll.

The straw poll has had a mixed record of predicting future electoral success. George W. Bush, who was then governor of Texas, won the poll in 1998, two years before his presidential bid. But former Tennessee Sen. Bill Frist, who never mounted a presidential bid, took first place at the 2006 SRLC.

"We're excited to have Governor Palin join us in New Orleans. She represents the future of the Republican Party and will be a huge draw for conservative activists from across the country," SRLC Director Charlie Davis said in an accompanying statement.

Only right wingnuts would pay her for a speech that is made up of the following lies; "death panels, ' "drill baby drill," "thanks but no thanks." and "I am not a quitter." If it wasn't for Cheney, Pete Hoekstra and Peter King, she would be the biggest liar in the republican party.

The former Governor will 'speak' at the conference... Unless her public-persona-tutors have been working overtime, they are using the term 'speaking' very loosely.

Perhaps it would be better to say she will be 'pinning disjointed sentence fragments together in a tabloid-media-fueled circus'. The only people who think her public speaking makes any sense at all are her already-deluded and fanatical followers.

Please CNN, be there at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference and record everything that she says for future reference.
We would like to know what she will say and how she will say it.
It might come in handy if she runs for office in 2012.

Oooooh, goodie. Now, the only question is, will she have to cancel at the last minute due to a misunderstanding about scheduling?

What better way to solidify the GOP as a strictly Southern Party than to roll out a speech for the Southern Republican Leadership Conference.

So, Sarah is the GOP's future...

One question: in America's 2-party political system, who will be the second party? By tradition, the minority party represents more than 18% of the electorate.

Her biggest mistake was to ride the crashing wave with McCain last year! After Bush there was no way another Republican would win the White House! Of course we got rid of the cowboy and ended up with Obozo the clown who can not lead even if his life depended on it!! But Sarah may never have a chance to show any potential she may have because of last year's elections. Miscalculations by GOP for bringing her out last year instead of waiting until she was more seasoned to put her in front of the stupid democrats that elected Obozo the clown!

I respect John McCain for serving in our military...HOWEVER! That doesn't qualify him to be president, and Sarah Palin isn't even qualified enough to have been governor of Alaska.

This woman appeals to the worst instincts in people. Her followers simply want to have their own beliefs confirmed, and are uncomfortable thinking for themselves.

Sara will fit right in with the party of DeMint, Brownback, Graham, Vitter and the rest of the southerners from Texas and Oklahoma. Great bunch to pal around with. I do hope that Sara makes the event. CNN will make sure that we know everything that Sara says or does.
