(CNN) – Famed White House party crashers Tareq and Michaele Salahi are going from party crashers to guests of honor.
"President Obama's most unexpected guests" are slated to headline a party at Caesar's Palace nightclub on January 16, according to the event organizer's Web site.
The pair are reportedly being paid $5,000 total for the appearance, according to the New York Post. A spokesman for the event could not be reached to confirm that number.

I agree with the majority of posts on this topic. What is so annoying is that a huge percentage of Americans will do anything and pay anything to see anyone who is famous for any reason.
Reality TV makes stars out of morons, and there are a huge number of audience-morons out there eager to watch reality-morons vote one another off the show every week. The problem is that half of all Americans have a below average IQ.
While this is humerous, CNN can you please work on keeping the political ticker strictly to politics. This could easily be on one of the other sections of your site. Perhaps the US or entertainment sections.

Just boycott Caesar's Palace!! They only understand $$ and if people don't show up at this "party" maybe they will stop booking things like this.

So they're are being rewarded for their incredibly stupid, dangerous behavior first by Caesar's Palace and then again by all the main stream media that are giving this press coverage! That includes you, CNN! This country has become so mired in the whole "celebrity" culture it just makes me sick! I'm old enough to remember when we weren't like this . . . . sure wish we could go back to that way of thinking!
The money they will be paid will barely cover her hair and nails cost to get ready for this lark. This is what you get when you remove God and morality and common decency standards from public life. But I'm glad to see so many posts pinpointing the internal morass of American society. We know what the problem is, now how to we can get rid of it? The two of them must read commentary like this and have no shame. But all of us going to Vegas to laugh at them is intriguing. If alot of people were to go to that party and stand outside to laugh and jeer at them, hold up signs letting them know they are low-lifes – why not? If we can "flash mob" a place for fun, why not do it to them? Maybe a few rotten eggs heaved would make the point...

What exactly are these two self-promoters going to do at this party? Since the are "headliners" are they going to sing and dance, or tell jokes? Good grief, this is so sick. We have such great problems in this world, and it is so sad that "honor" will be paid to these two who don't seem to know how to do an honest day's work.
I am surprised that MTV hasn't offered them a reality TV gig along the same line as Housewise's of Orange County or I love New York. What has happened to America? I believe it all started downhill when the Supreme Court sided with pornographer Larry Flynt on what falls under freedom of speech and as to what is acceptable for our society...
