Gibbs clears up at least one 'Lost' mystery

Washington (CNN) - White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs Friday refrained from giving an exact date of President Obama's State of the Union address, but he did offer solace to thousands of clamoring fans of the hit ABC television show "Lost": The president will not pre-empt the highly-anticipated premiere.

Social media Web sites – especially Twitter – have been buzzing with concern over the possibility that the Commander-in-chief might delay the long-awaited premiere. A Twitter hash tag was created: #NoStateOfTheUnionFeb2.

"I don't foresee a scenario in which millions of people that hope to finally get some conclusion on Lost are pre-empted by the president," Gibbs said Friday. He jokingly added, "You can quote a senior administration official."

"Lost" kicks off its sixth and final season with a three-hour premiere on February 2.

No wonder our country is in trouble! Twitiots spend all this time and energy raising a stink about possibly missing a television show?

Don't these folks know that during this very challenging time, an address by the President is much more important than some silly TV show?

Hey, Jill@ put down the bong and get over your Bush Derangement Syndrome. SEIU/ACORN and the Chicago thugs installed this doofus liar as president. Bush was last election. Democrats keep living in the past and their vision for the future is crap.

    ThinkAgain,

All the president is going to do is get up there and lie so why watch him. Lying seems to be the only thing he does well. Well, actually, now that we have all seen through his lies, he can't even claim that talent anymore.

The C-Span "controversy" is a diversion. Republicans won't ever support ANY healthcare bill in any form, so let them scream like toddlers.

I just am so taken back by all of the negative comments listed...

President Obama is an amazing leader ... he has been dealt with a lot but it is doing an amazing job with dignity and grace.

Yes, we are trying to eliminate a lot of the Bush garbage ...

So, everyone can be amazed by Barack...

I missed the part where this had anything to do with GOPer's...as some of you claim.

"Odd to see people saying that Obama is the "Worst President" He doesn't qualify as the best yet just one year into his first term but compared to Bush he is excellent and saying otherwise just shows your ignorance."

Bush never went above 6% unemployment. His average was 5.4%, which is even better than Clinton....in fact, it might be the lowest unemployment ever.

Obama is at 10%. I take it you're a lib so you might not realize that 5.4% is slightly better than 10%......it shows your ignorance as well.

Okay, lets say for the sake of argument that President Bush lied to us. How does that make it right for President Obama to lie to us? I liked President Bush, however, I will be the first to say that I didn't like all of the decisions he made and was very vocal about that. President Obama is the president now and is responsible for the decisions he makes. He is a liar and has been caught at it numerous times. The health debate will be aired on C-SPAN, unemployment will not go above 9%, those who messed up security during the Christmas Day terror attempt will be held accountable yet no one was fired. Do I need to go on? This is an incompetent president and how any of you can still support him or his administration is beyond me.

Yes. We all need to sit around the TV that night and wait for Obama to save us from these challenging times. Maybe Obama can spend another trillion or so while he saves us. Obama seems to address the nation every 5 minutes to say the same thing over and over. The carbon foot prints of his speeches are killing the planet. They need to cap THAT!

    How pathetic you libs are.

  12. Republicans - Wrong about everything, Wrong for America (and GW Bush was the worst President ever)

Let's see. The economy expanded for the first time in 6 years. The stock market made a big rebound. In fact, my trading account had a profit of 30% (Thanks Mr. Obama). Car sales are on the rise. Industrial output is starting to turn around. The banks are getting healthier. Not bad for a President who came into office with the threat of the country sinking into a depression. These are the facts. On the other hand, we have the Republicans. They don't deal in facts. They deal in fear. And gloom. They warn about the dire consequences of the outcomes of what Mr. Obama is doing. Of course, these things that they warn about never come. Like the bank bailout. Remeber how they told us about future generations bearing this burden. Yet the banks have been paying the money back. With interest. So when I read the comments above form disgruntled Republicans telling us how Mr. Obama has ruined the company, it makes my day knowing that they are beaten, and can only cry out in frustration. Next time, instead of a light weight like Bush, maybe they will offer up a real candidate with real ideas.

Matthew in Detroit....... you do realize that the Nation has been in a recession since 2007....... when Dubya was president?

FYI Matthew, the White House did talk about the 7 CIA agents who were killed because they failed to frisk a man who was working undercover for them.

IF the GOPers would listen perhaps then you, folks, wouldn't be so hateful and misleading.

"Lost" sounds like "southerncousins" life story ! Worst show I have ever seen, so you could put on a Seinfeld rerun and I would watch that over Lost. They should pre empt the show that will do nothing to change anyones life and, and let us listen to the State of Union speech that is very important in these extremely difficult times. I know most Republicans don't know what the word "Lost" even means, they still think their lying, hateful racist comments on the President should be listened tolertaed. They forget they lost the majority of Americas trust over the past 9 years.

Since SO many GOPers are talking about LIES......... how about the George W. Bush lie about WMD's in Iraq?

What about the Bush lie about "this country does not torture"?

What about the Bush lie about outing a CIA agent?

What about the Bush lie about secret foreign prisons?

Or the lie about not spying on American citizens, when they were?

"How many lives, how many jobs, and how many millions have we lost because of the previous White House lying to us?"

Well, I know Bush couldn’t have lost too many jobs. 5.4% unemployment is almost full employment.

How many millions did we lose under Bush? Is it more than 3-5 trillion in 10 months? That's how much we lost under Obama.

I know nobody will die under Obama....he is the Messiah after all...and he needs everyone to stay alive and pay taxes. I would have said that Obama needs everyone to vote...but I'm from IL where even the dead vote for Obama.

Really CNN? You post this southerncousin imbecile's bigotted insults directed at specific people, but avoid posting a somehwat droll comparison of how the "news" media is just like shows like Lost for jumping the shark on a daily basis? Petty. Truly.
