Obama unveils $2.3 billion for clean energy jobs

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) - President Obama unveiled a program Friday that will provide $2.3 billion in tax credits for the clean energy manufacturing sector, a move aimed at creating 17,000 jobs.

The funding, which comes from the $787 billion American Reinvestment and Recovery Act, has been awarded to 183 projects in 43 states, the White House announced.

"If we harness ingenuity, take the talent of our workers and innovators, and we invest in it, we'll forge a future where life is better in our country over the long run," Obama said.

The projects selected must be commissioned by February 2013, and the government expects about one-third of those will be completed this year. The program provides a 30% tax credit for those projects.

Since Jimmy Carter left office, $9.5 trillion has been run up in debt.
Of that amount, 86% is Republican debt.
    _________________

Yes, 9.5 trillion....IN 30 YEARS! Obama raised it 3-6 trillion in 10 months. If you can't see the difference....well, I'm trying not to say anything insulting. But you must admit that if someone were to spend money they didn't have, that person would be in trouble....right?

This will stop. The liberals are done in 2010. Most of this spending will be undone by future conservatives, both Democrats and Republicans. They will simply cut the spending and end the entitlements and we will get back to a free market.

The Worst President Ever just spent some more money that we don't have. Nothing.....Nothing that this idiot has done has been successful. I don't understand how anyone defends him anymore.

    "Green jobs".........what a joke.

This guy can spend money faster than water runs out of a tap I don't think he has a concept of money at all but when we he learn that we
americans make this economy go not the government and that's why we call him a socialist because he tries to take the place of people.

  6. Good Government Programs to Help the Jobless is . . .

    What We Need.

    Thanks, Mr. President

P.S. Why does Al Queda cheer when the Republicans attack our President? Because when we attack ourselves, they win.

Well past time we started looking forward instead of backward. A lot of lost jobs just aren't coming back, and that upsets a lot of people, understandably.

We need to focus on the economy of the next 50 years, not the last 50, which are gone forever. When old ways are worn out, new ways must be found.

These future jobs paid for now but won't be delivered to 2013 and later, oVER THREE YEARS AWAY!! Sad and pathetic, President Obama has no clue or plan for our own citizens who need jobs now. I can not believe as a democratic supportrt who elected you that you would pull this bait and switch jobs plan.

"I Pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." What a concept.

Of course, if you are someone who can't accept the election result or you are mired in hate, greed, intolerance or fear you can just conveniently leave out "one Nation ... under God, ...indivisible,
with liberty and justice for all." . Think about it.

Exactly how my tax dollars should be spent, instead of being wasted on looking for weapons of mass destruction that the administration knew didn't exist. Way to go, Mr. President, I love you!

Without judging whether or not this investment will be better at actually getting Americans back to work on steady jobs or just providing the President and the Democrats a Happy Moment to insert in the Stae of The Union speech...

...at least this shows he is acknowledging the high unemployment. This will be money better spent than paying off hold-out Democratic Senators squeezing what they can out of the Health Insurance Bureaucracy Act proceedings!

All you people on here howling about it being so terrible, Where is your idea? Where are the Republican ideas? It was the Republicans that outsourced our jobs overseas so their corporate doners could make more money. At least we have a President now that is trying to help some people get a job. That is more that I can say for the last one!

God Bless you President Obama. There are millions of us out here behind you 100%!

Well here we go again another bill that will cost more jobs. Obama is a flake. One thing he is good at is putting this country further in debt.

This is a perfect example of how the right will put a bad spin on everything this president does. When he tries to put money directly into programs, the right says "that's not the way to do it, you have to give tax cuts". So, now he announces a program to give tax credits to clean/alternative energy manufacturing sector, and the right still complains. Do you people on the right have ANYTHING constructive to contribute?
And to you morons complaining about "more" spending, try reading all the words. You will see that this is part of the stimulus package. Jesus, do you people even think before you spout off?

I like this. Some of you lames don't seem to understand it takes money to make money. Don't you remember the dot com innovation that was initially funded by the government and taken over by the private sector. It created over 10 ,that's right I said it, 10 million jobs. The government got a fat return on its investment and we saw the largest job growth in American History. GET A CLUE AND GET ON BOARD.

Stop trying to create jobs. UNEMPLOYMENT BEING HIGH IS GOOD! WE want unemployment to remain high. I've got a job, a good job, so with all these people getting poorer, I feel richer. This is good for me. Stop trying to create jobs. That $2.3 Billion should be going to help fight terrorism in Yemen.

WOW, Look at all the naiive liberals. Hey Libs are these the same shovel ready jobs that the ditherer and chief promised the stimulus would create? Well Obama said...... LOL. Hey Libs Obama has said many things but has come through on absolutely nothing. Actually I must admit I am wrong; He was able to name his dog BO (his own initials, hilarious) in a month, oh and he had a pirate killed and had the "beer summit." Thank god this one and done clown will not get any of his anti American policies through once the radical anti American party in the majority in Congress are all added to the unemployment list. ummm ummm ummmm Barrack Hussein Obama.

MJM: How on earth did Obama raise the deficit 3-6 trillion? The deficit for this year is 1.5 trillion, of which 700 billion was written into the BUSH budget.

Just like you neocons. Lie often, lie loud, and lie some more.

Americans are so dumb. They don't read and they are guide by bits and pieces and sound bites. Know the difference between direct spending and tax cuts before you complain. It's a shame how ignorant the masses can be. We talk as though we are writing the check out of our personal bank accounts. We hear a number and loose our minds. Give the President of the United States the respect he deserves. I didn't hear all this B***H**G when President Bush was in office spending money like it was no tomorrow. The funny thing about this whole thing is that Martin Luther King predicted the situation we are in today in one of his speeches on Vietnam. The Bombs we drop in other contries we will feel the the results with economic downfall. I see why we elect people now for offices otherwise we'd have chaos and some of the most unintellectual conclusions to many of the problems we face today. If we didn't have President Obama and some of the intellectuals that he is advised by we'd be in big trouble.

Yes, mjm, this will stop. Future conservatives will stop it. However, that will be after the bush, mcsame, palin, pawlenty, mcconnell, republicans, inspired by hannity, o'reilly, limbaugh, and beck cheerleaders, are long gone from the scene.

I favor progressive ideas, but also favor an opposition party that advocates for fiscal conservatism. That ain't this crowd. Tax cuts that aren't offset by spending reductions are stealing from our children just as much as any stimulus or allegedly unfunded medical insurance program. Wars that aren't paid for are stealing from our children just as much as any other spending.

And, as soon as your ilk posting here, and the rest of the neocons, stop with your rediculous ideas that anything in the world can be solved by tax cuts, we'll get back to a healthy governing system.

So glad we went with the smart one this time.
