(CNN) - Both houses of the New Jersey legislature plan to vote Monday on a controversial bill backed by Democrats that would qualify illegal immigrants for in-state tuition at public colleges and universities.
Supporters hope to pass the measure before Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine leaves office. Gov.-elect Christopher J. Christie, a Republican who takes office January 19, has said he opposes the bill.
On Thursday, a Senate vote on the legislation was postponed.
After hours of heated debate January 4, the bill passed the Assembly Appropriations Committee, 7-4, and the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee, 8-6. Both votes were along party lines.

What hypocracy are these Democrats full of. First they must require some government official to "document" the "illegality" of the immigrant or they wouldn't qualify for such "in state" tuition discounts. Then they will, by law, endorse the illegality and somehow eliminate the proper "reporting" of these illegals to officials while forcing the legal NJ taxpayers to subsidize the education of these illegals.
Think about it. By the time the illegal is college age he/she can get a job and put themselves through college like anyone else. Since they are illegal in the beginning, why not just go back to Mexico and attend universities there. There are plenty of fine universities in that country.
What part of "illegal " don't we as Americans understand?
Call them undocumented, call them migrant, part time or whatever, but if they are here, wihtout proper approval, they are illegally entitled to benefits!
I'm third generation Italian American. My family waited their turn to get here. Everyone who wants to be an American should have the chance..to be an American, but legally. Until then, let their country of origin pay for their needs.

So if someone who is in this country illegally and living in New Jersey can possibly pay in-state tuition, what about us military servicemen who are from other states and end up stationed in NJ? We're legal, we're citizens, and defending this liberal nation? Do we get the same rights? Oh that's right, I forgot this liberal nation is more worried about the rights of illegal immigrants and terrorists who try to attack us. Nevermind.

So they want to let illegal immigrants to only have to pay in state tuition. What else are they going to give them free boarding. Another step backwards and a slap in the face legals in this country.
Illegal immigrants are not immigrants, they have breached national security. They need to get proper visas or get out. If they can't get visas they need to be deported.
there's no such thing as an illegal human. paper doesn't make someone legal, only it makes them known. for that, getting these people on paper, this is worth it.

Even though I'm a moderate NJ Democrat, this is absolutely ridiculous. I pay a lot of money to go to college. I work hard and I still pay through the nose to put myself through college. And now they want to give people who are not legally here the right to pay the same rate as me? At what point do hard-working, middle class, legal citizens get a break?
Twenty years ago we gave millions of illegals amnesty, 'IGNORE HISTORY AND YOU'RE SURE TO REPEAT IT". Now it seems we are about to repeat it.
