Palin to address alcohol industry event in Las Vegas

Palin will speak to the Wine and Liquor Wholesalers of America in April.

Washington (CNN) – Las Vegas and alcohol probably aren't the first two things that come to mind at the mention of Sarah Palin, but the former vice presidential candidate is about to change that.

At least that's according to Craig Wolf, the president and CEO of the Wine and Liquor Wholesalers of America, who announced Tuesday that Palin will keynote the group's annual convention and and expo in Las Vegas in early April.

"Governor Palin is a great supporter of America's free enterprise system and understands that industries like the beverage alcohol industry play a key role in driving our national economy. We're proud and honored to welcome her as a speaker," Wolf said in a statement. "We expect she will share with the convention attendees her analysis of the current political environment and her vision for America's future."

The convention includes a "Wine and Spirits Tasting Competition," which, according to the press release, "secured a spot on the agenda after drawing overwhelming response and favorable feedback during its debut" last year.

An aide to Palin was not immediately available to confirm the WLWA appearance.

The Las Vegas stop comes a few days before Palin is scheduled to address the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans, a major gathering of GOP leaders that that in recent years has become an early proving ground for potential presidential candidates.

I'm sure she's done a lot for the liquor industry. Every time I hear Her voice. I have to have a drink.

I'd have to be seriously drunk to listen to Palin. Maybe if she could bring down an octave of two? No, not even then could I listen to that nonsense.

I guess if you get drunk enough you could even listen to her non sense!

I live in Las Vegas and for me there is not enough booze to get me that drunk to listen to her non sense.

Could there be any conflict of interest between the Evangelicals and the devil spirits? Will she also preach the Good Book while sipping the spirits?

Someone major is really promoting this lady and it does not bode well for this Republic! More publicity goes to this person than to those who actually do valuable work in and for this Nation – like teachers, nurses, and others who truly help those being hurt by the
Corporate/Government marriage in this Robbery of the Commons! This Free Market ideological hell that capitalism has created is the driving force behind all this negative, self-destructive policy being enacted upon our World. Social Workers and other helping professions ought to be very well-paid as they pick up the budget pieces after the states cut off funds to the most vulnerable. It is totally disgusting that this person garners so much attention in the Madison Avenue Press cheerleading for Wall Street! Whatever happened to all the promises and rhetoric of Main Street? Cheers, Sarah, FOX! We'll see if this nation will tolerate you all much longer, won't we?

This is an appropriate appearance by the trailer trash Queen. Afterall alcohol-induced delusion probably accounted for at least 60% of the votes she and Mr. McGoo got back in 2008.....the other 40% just really are THAT STUPID!

She's probably still fielding other offers ... don't hold your breath, WLWA!

Funny how someone who is Pro-Life and is for abstinence would condone the consumption of alcohol just because the industry makes a ton of money! Soon she will realize that Marijuana is also a cash crop but won't acknowledge it.. just let the cartels in Mexico and gangs in the US just keep killing each other and innocent people for this! Strange how money can change your moral standing!! Alcohol and tobacco kill more people per year that all of our wars combined.

interesting, maybe she'll come be a speaker at 420 fest here in L.A.

I'm sure she'd be all for the leagalization of pot for recreational use. Since it'll be great for the economy and all.

I wonder what the rest of the GOP and their morals think of this.

This is crazy. If they wanted a politician why wouldn't they get a Kennedy or perhaps Bill Clinton - you know, someone who is a long-time and regular user of their products.

Perhaps they chose Palin because she is such a babe and could pass for a cocktail waitress.

Who really cares? Is this news? It looks more like CNN’s obsession with Palin and anything that could diminish her.

Bill Clinton could address the hooker’s union convention and it wouldn’t get even a mention.

The alcohol industry has been especially helpful in the years between 1994 and 2006, when the republicans were in control of congress, especially the years 2000 to 2006, when the republicans had control over all branches.

As long as there are republicans in congress, the alcohol industry will always be strong!

    Prost!
