Palin to address alcohol industry event in Las Vegas

Palin will speak to the Wine and Liquor Wholesalers of America in April.

Washington (CNN) – Las Vegas and alcohol probably aren't the first two things that come to mind at the mention of Sarah Palin, but the former vice presidential candidate is about to change that.

At least that's according to Craig Wolf, the president and CEO of the Wine and Liquor Wholesalers of America, who announced Tuesday that Palin will keynote the group's annual convention and and expo in Las Vegas in early April.

"Governor Palin is a great supporter of America's free enterprise system and understands that industries like the beverage alcohol industry play a key role in driving our national economy. We're proud and honored to welcome her as a speaker," Wolf said in a statement. "We expect she will share with the convention attendees her analysis of the current political environment and her vision for America's future."

The convention includes a "Wine and Spirits Tasting Competition," which, according to the press release, "secured a spot on the agenda after drawing overwhelming response and favorable feedback during its debut" last year.

An aide to Palin was not immediately available to confirm the WLWA appearance.

The Las Vegas stop comes a few days before Palin is scheduled to address the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans, a major gathering of GOP leaders that that in recent years has become an early proving ground for potential presidential candidates.

It's fitting she speaks to the alcohol lobby. If she's elected president in 2012, I'm gonna stay drunk for the next four years ... or until she quits.

Unleash the seething hatred from those people loving liberals. The comments coming on this will highlight the hypocrisy of the left. They want a kumbaya world until someone has a differing view. Then the hatred and character assasination fly wildly. It is a twisted world view to say the least. A double standard of epic proportion.

  6. Gravitas is Not For Sale

The Paris Hilton of Politics is simpy cashing in on every foolish organization with a leader partisan enough to pay her to appear.

Honestly, what does she know about the "spirits" industry?

Seems to me to be a stupid choice for a group that might be comprised of as many Dems as Republicans. Democrats are entreprenuers and own businesses too.

To try to align her as a "free-market" expert is weak at best. Yeah, I know she and the 1st Dude of Alaska failed at running some type of wilderness store business but I doubt that qualifies her to talk about "free enterprise" any more than some kid that had a paper route or a lawn cutting business.

She's going to get rich off of other people's stupidity ... which is OK in America. However, that new found money will never translate into intellectual credibility. We won't listen to her just because she cashed in. You can't buy gravitas.

I can see that she will do anything to make some money. When she quit as governor of Alaska, she stated that her goal was to help the people of Alaska in her role as a citizen. Wow!!!! This is helping Alaskans? I don't blame her for making as much money as she can to support her family, but she is hypocritcal at best.

Glad to see a woman who used to lead a state with an abysmally high rate of alcoholism is a proud supporter of the booze industry.

Maybe they can find a way to use alcohol for Sarah's 'Death Panel's.'

After listening to her speech, they will be convinced the town drunk makes more sense, and has a better understanding of the political environment.

Actually when I think of Palin alcohol is one fo the first thing that comes to my mind. The awful thought that she could have actually been one stroke away from the Whithouse make me want to drink as much as possible.
