Coakley endorsed by The Boston Globe

Democrat Martha Coakley was endorsed for U.S. Senate by The Boston Globe Wednesday.

Democrat Martha Coakley was endorsed for U.S. Senate by The Boston Globe Wednesday.

(CNN) - The Boston Globe endorsed Martha Coakley for Senate Wednesday, saying the Democrat is more qualified to serve in Washington than her Republican opponent Scott Brown.

"She is by far the more qualified candidate, in experience and judgment," the Globe contended in the editorial released on its Web site late in the afternoon.

The newspaper's endorsement argued that it would be misguided to think sending Brown to the Senate, ending the Democrat's filibuster proof majority in the Senate, would satisfy Americans' frustration with Washington.

"A vote for Brown is hardly a symbolic protest against congressional gridlock and the ways of Washington," the Globe contended. "It's a vote for gridlock, in the form of endless Republican filibusters, and for the status quo in health care, climate change, and financial regulation. That's what will happen if Brown gives the Republicans the additional vote they need to tie up the Senate."

Brown had previously been endorsed by the Boston Herald and Worcester Telegram & Gazette.

Amen – the last thing this country needs is another Republican in Congress. They have done NOTHING all year but call for the failure of our country and followed that up by voting NO on every single piece of legislation designed to help struggling Americans. They even voted against sending more protective gear to our troops!
Republicans have become so full of hate they cannot even respond to the basic human needs of our People. We need to get these traitors out of Congress so we can restore this nation far more quickly.

The Boston Globe endorsing a Democrat! Such a suprise! The voters of MA have one of those rare oppotunities to truly send a message to power. A message that says NO to the trillions and trillions in corrupt spending and debt! A message that says NO to the Louisiana Purchase! A message that says NO to the Cornhusker Kickback! A message that says NO to breaking promises of transparency and putting critical public business on C-SPAN! A message that says NO the the incompetence of "The System Worked"! The voters of MA have a chance to send a freezing artic storm to DC and freeze the corruption in its place. Or they can continue with the same old politics!!!! A rare opportunity!

They are correct, vote for the democrat if you want to tear down the country through onerous new taxes and huge inefficent govenment. She and the elite left pretend to save the country by promising to take care of the sick and cleaning the air, who would be against that? Only those evil conservatives.
But if you look at the facts you cannot spend yourself into prosperity and you cannot carry the country on the backs of the middle class, that is excatly what the Health care reform LIE and cap and tax will do.
Believe what you want, but so far tthe left is taking us in a direction any one with common sense can see will be the road to ruin and will take generations to recover, if we can at all.
13 – 14 trillion in debt and climbing, time to cut up the credit cards and stop spending.....

The news ought to be that a republican is even close in Mass. A testament to the anguish in this country with the Dems in" junta" control of America!!

Big Surprise! The liberal Boston Globe endorses the democrat. What is surprising is that it took them so long to do so, That should tell you something about their enthusiasm for the democratic candidate.

What are news organizations doing endorsing any candidate(s)? They are supposed to be objectively reporting facts – not propogandizing.

For the first time in my life I am going to volunteer in this upcoming election. I consider myself an Independent, but the republican party has sunk so low in their hateful rhetoric I feel it is my duty as an American to work hard to ensure they do not make any gains in our national or local political structure while they insist on lying to the public.

""She is by far the more qualified candidate, in experience and judgment." The Globe.

Well, she is the same candidate who in the last debate (Monday) said that there are NO more terrorists in Afghanistan..........

If that is the case, who killed seven members of the CIA in a suicide attack several days ago in Afghanistan??????? Could Coakley or the Globe answer this question????

""She is by far the more qualified candidate, in experience and judgment." The Globe.

I guess Martha Coakley will take what she can get. Failure by the state's highest ranking law enforcement officer (a liberal) to receive the endorsement of it's most liberal police union is huge. Especially since that union endorsed Scott Brown. Otherwise, how do you blow a 30-point margin in less than a month?

Behold the clearly unbiased press release of the typical American media outlet. Laughable. The Boston Globe sounds like a cheap smear ad run in primetime television markets during American Idol commercials.

  23. bigsurprise

The Globe is owned by the New York Times. Big surprise the Times is endorsing the lock step liberal Coakley. By her own words is time to leave Afghanistan, Al Qaeda is not there anymore. She lives in the same haze as the rest of the media and political elite. Her support needs to come from DC and unions now. She was expecting to be anointed to the Kennedy legacy seat after winning the primary. Now she is in a fight and has no idea how to respond other than go negative. Her ad's are gross overreaches even by Democrat standards. Massachusetts can elect someone other than a liberal (Mitt Romney).

Scott Brown has the machine nervous and it's fun to watch.

Republicans have lied, cheated and broken America's credibility and economic power during the last administration tenure; and there are those who want them back! How short sighted can you be?????
Every time we have Republicans in power, America goes backward and Americans lose.
