Palin calls book claims 'BS'

Palin is refuting a new political book's claims.
Palin is refuting a new political book's claims.

(CNN) - Sarah Palin is slamming a new book about the 2008 presidential campaign that largely portrays the then-vice presidential candidate as wholly unprepared for the national stage and poorly versed in a range of pressing issues.

"These reporters were not any part of what I was doing there as the VP candidate," Palin said on Fox News Tuesday, her first appearance on the network as a paid contributor. "I don't know who they are. I haven't met these guys."

The book – "Game Change," written by political reporters Mark Halperin and John Heilemann - alleges McCain aides quickly grew troubled with Palin's lack of understanding on key issues, including the job of the Federal Reserve, the difference between North and South Korea, and the purpose of the war in Afghanistan.

"It's a bunch of BS from [McCain campaign manager Steve] Schmidt and those guys," Palin said. "It's pretty made up."

But the former Alaska governor did confirm one of the book's allegations: not knowing exactly who was behind the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and falsely believing former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein played a role.

"I did talk a lot to Steve Schmidt about the history of the war….could there have been any connection to Saddam [Hussein]," she said. "So I admit that I asked questions about it."

Isn't it ironic that John McCain published a book discussing historically important decisions made by various military commanders, politicians and businessmen shortly before his presidential run? I wonder how he would describe his decision of Ms. Palin for his VP candidate in retrospect. I am thoroughly independent in my political orientation, and certainly not happy about the current state of affairs: regardless, things can always be worse.

7 years after 911, and she still didn't know who was responsible for the attacks? It is unbelieveable that John McCain would pick someone like that for VP. The whole world knew by 08 that Saddam hussein had nothing to do with 911(except for maybe Dick Cheney). I can't believe she would even admit something like this on national TV, even if it was on FOX!

  3. not as ignorant as Sara

I can't believe that she was so ignorant. I knew she was pretty green but not knowing who was behind 911 attacks is just too shocking. Anybody would know that (whether an American or not), but its especially shocking to know that one of our governors and a VP candidate was THAT ignorant.

She is one dumb woman. I have no idea why and how she got so much media highlight.
I really hope GOP runs her in 2012, that will surely guarantee President Obama a second term in the WH.

Palin is a dummy for sure but you can't blame her for believing Saddam was behind 9/11. The Cheney family was pushing that line as recently as 2 years ago.

Sarah–the toughest woman in politics today–smart, articulate and she beat the powerful Letterman at his own game without firing a shot at him–brought the liberal media to its knees and showed them how she is not a woman to be beaten down by lies and innuendo! You can see the silly grins on the faces of Maddow and that Schultz character on NBC–they are choking on their own venom!–Love it!

Let's be clear on one thing for certain.......FOX News is a political arm of the GOP.........One last thing......the GOP may make some gains, but their party has become all but irrelevant.
I won't comment on or bash Ms. Palin.......She's been thoroughly vetted by the public........Enough said. :-(

It speaks volumes about our society when somebody like Sarah Palin can not only be considered a viable vice presidential candidate but then becomes a political commentator for FOX. Can anyone seriously believe that she has any meaningful insight or relevant experience.

What an idiot. I swear I would be a better vice president, and I would be a terrible vice president.

Well, if anyone can recognize BS and made up stuff in a book, it would certainly be Ms. Palin since her book appears to be full of it. I notice that she's been quick to jump all over Harry Reid, so she takes the reporters at their word on that story. They just somehow got it wrong about her.

Meanwhile, we are certainly finding out why she really quit being Governor: $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Sarah, don't worry about what others say about you. You are a movie star and take every oppurtunity to make fame & fortune. It does not take all the smarts to be a politician or even to be a pressident. You are funny, witty & of course beautiful. Who needs grumpy & serious people. You earned one Democratic vote. Keep moving.

Sarah Palin's incompetence is well documented by now, so it comes as no surprise that she might suspect Saddam Hussein had something to do with 9/11. It is telling that so many Republicans continue to support her. It is also interesting that, despite Republicans picking such intellectually inept leadership during the past 8-10 years, the Democrats are still incapable of definitive political dominance.

She doesn't know these guys! Wow....was she present during the election 2008, or did she just skip that to her book tour. Lady you are one scary person I don't want near the Whitehouse, or any government office. Stick to Fox.

She was nothing but a puppet for McCain and his bid for President- they wanted to try and steal the Clinton votes, with a woman on the ticket..

They did not realize she was a pitbull with lipstick and who they thought she was until after the "honeymoon stage" was over and she started going rogue..

I believe she didn't know that Hussien was not an instigator in 9/11....

To all you crazies who think she is the second coming...Palin 2012!!

I saw the interview with Sarah Palin. She is truly bright and honest. The news media including CNN go out of their way to find anything negative they can to say about her. We all see a year's worth of indicision, errors in judgement, and lack of focus from our new inexperienced President. Trial and Error on the backs of Americans!

On another note, since having this absolutely "UGLY" black muslim in office and his efforts to socialize our country while destroying America, don't you long for President Bush again? Me too!

Actually, no Sarah, it wasn't made up. The whole world bore witness to your gross lack of basic education, and trailer-trash mannerisms. What woman in politics can possibly be taken seriously when she goes around winking at everyone, and can't name ONE newspaper that she reads? You inhabit a different stratosphere than say a Hillary Clinton, a much lower one. In point of fact, you have committed so many gaffes and are so lacking OVERALL in deportment and knowledge that I sincerely believe that in the interest of time the authors OMITTED many more examples of your insufferable lack of basic knowledge.
