Kasich: 'I was in the Tea Party before there was a Tea Party'

Washington (CNN) – With the Tea Partiers throwing their weight around in Republican primaries nationwide, a number of GOP candidates have spoken at Tea Party rallies and huddled with the small government activists who make up the movement.

But John Kasich, the Republican candidate hoping to topple Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland this November, was apparently the very first.

"I've been all over the state, including with our friends in the Tea Party movement," Kasich said Thursday during a press conference in Columbus announcing his running mate, state Auditor Mary Taylor. He added: "I think I was in the Tea Party before there was a Tea Party."

Kasich - a former congressman, talk show host and Lehman Brothers investment banker - praised the movement for "saying enough of the same old tired promises, pushing problems down the road. Let's fix things now."

I wish the Tea Partiers had been this vocal when President Bush starting running the country into the ground. I guess it's okay for a conservative to trash the country, but not okay for a liberal to bring it back from the brink. If Republicans come to power again, it will finish America. The one perk will be seeing Michael Steele's mouth shut up because they are going to dump him like yesterday's garbage.

Kasich – a former congressman, talk show host and Lehman Brothers investment banker...

How does one claim to be an anti-tax 'Tea Partier' when he worked at then now "driven-out-of-business" Lehman Brother?

Let me get this right....a former talk show host, a Lehman Brothers investment banker and a former congressman? This alone would be enough for me to bypass voting for this guy for governor. He was part of the group (bankers) that got us in this mess by lying and stealing. This guy should go out and get a real job instead of trying to stay in the lucrative position of politician/banker/talk show host.
