Washington (CNN) – President Obama’s much anticipated campaign event Sunday for embattled Democratic Senate hopeful Martha Coakley will take place at 3 p.m. ET on the campus of Northeastern University, the White House announced late Saturday morning.
Obama’s decision to head to Boston at the 11th hour is evidence that Democratic leaders are very concerned about losing the late Sen. Edward Kennedy’s seat to Republican Scott Brown. Coakley and Brown face off Tuesday in the Massachusetts special election.

As Scott Brown had to tell David Gergen, it's not Ted Kennedy's seat, it's the people's seat.
Masschusetts Obama in your face to tell what to do...so vote "Scott Brown" NOW and Sarah Palin for President in "2012"
....................................Return Democracy to America..................................
While Obama and Bubba campaign and raise money for a senate election in MA, the poor victims in Haiti continue to suffer in horrendous conditions and await aid that Obama's teleprompter promised, but according to news reports today is yet to arrive.
You can't live long without food and water. Barry and Bubba should be focusing on saving lives right now, and put aside their endless political ambitions for a few days.
It'd be helpful for Obama to pitch for Coakley if he wasn't so unpopular like he is now.
I guess when Bush went to campaign for McCain was desparate? Presidents have been doing this for centuries now the Dem's are desparte. Hahahahahahah what a joke
Obama can go, but I am hoping Brown will win and save the country from this abominable healthcare fiasco...a bill that will be a disaster for everyone in this country! Go Brown, Go! Massachusetts can once more save the nation!
Again not working on the ecomony or housing but still flying around at tax payer cost reading a telepromter. Coakly and obama might have a dumb off contest. It would be great to watch these to mental midgets go at it.
0bama's already showing himself to be not only incompetent, but toxic to any other Dem's campaign. If he wants to sink Coakley's boat with his fevered endorsement, that's fine by me.
America's had it with this clown and his administration. I can't wait to see Coakley lose this campaign and then watch the 2010 and 2012 returns come rolling in to sweep these national socialists clean out of the seats of power!
It is pretty sad and desperate for the president to leave the white house with so many other problems facing our country than one politician who can't win on her own merits.........It is politics as usual and the fact that he has broken his promise for transparancey was just one of his lies. I hope that the people in Massachusettes speak loud and clear and vote for Scott Brown
Republicans and conservative Independents have already won in that Mr. Brown is even close to Kennedy-endorsed Ms. Coakley in true-blue, Democratic Massachusetts.
President Obama's apparition for intercession is another sign of the State of the Republican Party in regard to the November elections.
Should Mr. Brown actually win the senatorial election this Tuesday, in addition to the kinetic energy now known to exist for November's Change of Course for the future of the USA, the hoped-for conservative change would already be in effect with the resulting damage to ObamaCare.
Either way the senatorial election goes Tuesday, AMERICA IS IN A WIN-WIN SITUATION.
God has blessed America.
Disaster in Haiti, the economy not as important to Mr. Obama as making sure that a Democratic yes -woman gets elected so that the Democrats will continue a Chicago style politics where all their cronies get taken care of.
Rio wins the seat!
