Washington (CNN) - Multiple advisers to President Obama have privately told party officials that they believe Democrat Martha Coakley is going to lose Tuesday’s special election to fill the Massachusetts Senate seat held by the late Ted Kennedy for more than 40 years, several Democratic sources told CNN Sunday.
The sources added that the advisers are still hopeful that Obama's visit to Massachusetts on Sunday - coupled with a late push by Democratic activists - could help Coakley pull out a narrow victory in an increasingly tight race against Republican state Sen. Scott Brown.
However, the presidential advisers have grown increasingly pessimistic in the last three days about Coakley's chances after a series of missteps by the candidate, sources said.
But White House spokesman Bill Burton told CNN: "The President is in Massachusetts today because he believes Martha Coakley is the right person for the job and indeed will be the next senator from Massachusetts."

Obama says Coakley will be against special interest groups while he is making deals with the Unions/ACORN,the Drug Companies, and such. He allowed congress to give away Billions in bailouts with no strings attached, and it is Congress who has oversight authority,so Ask the Dimocrats why now they are whinning?
Change is coming at last!!!
As a Democrat I believe that yes the Democrats will lose some seats in the upcoming Elections but not lose the House or Senate there majority will decrease somewhat but not much!
Take Back America! Vote for CHANGE! Vote Scott Brown!
I hope they are right it will be the best thing that could happen for this country. Maybe just maybe the democrats will then realize people don't want the cap & scam and ration healthcare bills but I doubt that they will realize that even if she does lose.
Hmm, I guess this is why he flew out to Mass to help her fledging campaign. Wonder who's footing the bill for this trip. Can we say..
more money more money out of our pockets.
hopefully clokley wont win.she is a major disaster.you can look at her and tell.brown is going to win this race.we have got to get republicans to take back the house and senate.obama and the democrats are going to destroy and break this country.there is nothing wrong with the health care system.the american people are not stupid.lets stand up and take this country back.
I am sooooooooo excited about Tuesday's election.
GO SCOTT BROWN!!!!!
Maybe it's me, but I get the sense the auditors completed their work and gave advise that it's best to let it fail....at least at this point...
so what may be a public perception of defeat may actually be their inner truth of relief.
We can only hope this will end up being a brave new step for Mass. The policies of Kennedy,Clinton,Obama need to be stopped now, before it's too late. This country can't continue spending money hand over fist as it has been doing this past year. Mass. think about your children and your children's children-they are the ones who are going to have to pay for all this nonsense.
As a small business owner and member of the South Asian community, I have been an independent voter. During the Bush years, I have consistently supported the Dems and voted for Obama in 2008. To my surprise, Obama is more of the same...he continues the wars abroad and trillion dollar deficits. He expects my tax dollars to pay for elective abortions and is a far left liberal. I will be voting for Scott Brown, an independent voice for America.
No way cause a gop win will – apocalypse
Obama, and his thick-as-thieves relationship with the bourgeoisie, Wall Street dictatorship, IS the reason we aren't "inspired" to make it out to the polls. How about the Democratic party offer the People a candidate who is actually a progressive, who would actually make the statement that Americans are entitled to food, shelter and medicine? Oh, wait. The Democrats would never do that because Wall Street wouldn't like it. Do they seriously expect us to get up off the couch so we can vote for a milquetoast corporate lackey like Martha Coakley? This country will descend into a barren capitalist wasteland. I'm done looking to the Democrats for representation.
why would people be so quick to go back to the Republicans who showed for 8 years that they can not and will not lead well?
How many people in Mass. believes Catholics shouldn't serve in emergency rooms,as Coakley does, because of their convictions.
That is such bologna being reported as "news"....please, I live in Massachusetts and she will win.
Terrific news!!!!!
And Obama going to campaign for her (as he did for the Olympics, Corzine, Global Warming, etc) will almost guarantee a loss. Lets hope!
I sincerely hope that Coakley loses. Obama still doesn't understand that his policies are harmful and are unpopular with the American people. He is not listening to us and a Republican victory in Massachusetts might finally force Obama to realize that Americans do not support his Marxist agenda.
Great setup. If she loses, it is because of a series of her missteps. If she wins, it's because Obama saved the day. What a buffoon this "president" is.
One can only hope that the smelly, corrupt piece of legislation that is supposed to be a reform of health care, is defeated by the election of this man who has the good of his country first in his heart.
if this adviser is correct then coakley's name will be Mudd with the DNC after the election. maybe she can join the Tea Party when the dems kick her to the curb.
the end of Obamacare.....the end of the socialist agenda.....the end of big spending...the end of destructive taxes.....
If they want to do healthcare reform, start over and do it the right way...the bipartisan way....with no arrogance.....no closed door meetings......no bribes.....
If it's a good law, you shouldn't have to do all of the above....
That's Right....Bye Bye Martha! So Long Democratic HOLD On Massachusetts....start letting your people breathe and grow into productive and happy people.....Democrats have destroyed that state!
