This should be interesting. I wonder what promises he will now make without the intention of keeping them.

It is so seldom that we hear from him or his teleprompter, I wonder what he will possibly say. "Bush did it," "Teabaggers drive pick up trucks and live in trailers" "Everybody I talk to wants my health care reform" "Bush did it" "Unprecedented" "Once in a lifetime" "Bush and Cheney did it" "Someone will be held accountable" "Transparencyy" "Bush did it" "No new taxes on the middle class" No lobbyists in my administration" "Not one dime" "Gotta do it now" "It is Bush's fault". "We apologize to the world for being America" "Would you like some more taxpayer money" Bush did it"

Thank you President Obama. You're making a great effort to get this country going. Too bad their are a lot of do nothing, no nothing types who can only throw stones and blame other people for their problems.

One thing I am sure you won't hear is the reason why he is continuing to ignore the will of the people by trying to push through his socialistic health care reform. President Obama the people have spoken, it is time for you to start listening.

He has been in the job for ayear now. These various issues are his now. Let's wait and see what he has to say. It will be great for him to review his campaign promises and tell us how each of those goals are doing. If he goes into that same old song and dance "prior adminstrations" it will get old pretty quick.

Looks like the only significant new programming for the night is Neil Patrick Harris judging the Dallas round of "American Idol," and that's at 9/8c, so it might be joined in progress (if FOX even _carries_ the State of the Union Address) ;)

An excellent night for an excellent speech - looking forward to it. :)

Here it comes guys, more lies and finger pointing. More promises to be unkept and more hype without hope. Yes things changed, but not for the better.

Can we tread water til 2012 ?

Obama is a joke, he is definitely in WAY over his head. He's got no intelligence for this type of work. Sure he can maybe organize a community and get a bake sale going but organizing a Nation is a whole different story.
Once the election is won by the Brown guy then it'll be a snowballing effect and other Socialis.... er.. I mean Democrats will jump off the bandwagon that is Obama. After that nothing on his agenda to pay back the money to those who got him elected will ever come to perdition, his second term will be a faded dream because that wont happen and he'll fall into the annals of history as the worst President ever, surpassing Jimmy Carter.

There will be no healthcare bill. The GOP has no intention of getting anything done with their 41 votes keeping America hostage. Pray for Coakley to win.

the best is you are calling people "no nothing types" and I assume you mean "know nothing" – so maybe you need as much educational assistance as they do?

I still see that the President Bush haters still can't accept responsibilty for the actions of the people in charge. I have no respect for someone that can't take responsibility for their actions.

The state of the union is easy. We are better off now than we have been over the last eight years of downfall. Health care is being reformed and financial regulation is being restored which are required before addressing the national debt and job creation can begin, climate change is taken seriously, torture is out as Obama takes the peace prize at the same time he gave the war in Afghanistan a plan - after seven years of neglect by Bush, not to mention it is nice to have a president who is smart, does not smirk or boob his head as if he belongs in the rear window of a car and a VP with a stupid sneer.

    President Obama:

We as Americans don't want to listen about your current Healthcare takeover, frivolous deficit spending, more Federal taxes and certainly your teleprompter drivel full of lies and false promises any longer!

Most inteligent Americans already know that the state of our Union has been greatly compromised under YOUR WATCH so PLEASE no more blaming Bush OK. For starters, please focus your speech on the TRUTH and not a long list of more socialistic programs destined for additional failure.
You are destined to be remembered as a 1-term mistake unless you follow Clinton's example by becoming much more moderate ideologically. The radical-left wing Progressives are NOT your friends nor are they good for your political future and left unchecked, will lead to the demise of the Democrat Party, You and America as we know it!

Wow, only 3 more years left of Obama! He only cares about himself and not the people, just watch, he will be in Hollywood when he's out of office! President Bush actually cared about the military and middle class, not force them to buy health care when we dont have any money or jobs!

Most of the blame for the actions of the previous administration(s) can be laid squarely at the feet of the U.S. Congress.

Many of the actions we will be suffering from for decades to come can be laid at the feet of the current members of the U. S. Congress.

While I personally do not agree with the actions of either the current President, or the previous President, they are both bound by the U.S. Constitution to execute the responsibilities of the office.

There is nothing inherently wrong with President Obama's idealogy, however I was hoping for a lot more pragmatism regarding what is truly needed vs. what can be paid for.

Even if you don't agree with the president (perfectly acceptable in a free nation!), at least show the office some respect. Disrespecting the office is truly unpatriotic.

Reading the comments some replies seem to really enjoy sarcasium. Hateful speach has never resolved an issue or corected a problem. We need "Thinkers", "Activist", "Ideas", "Collaboration", "Voters", Just plain old hard work. The media needs to report accurate information not rumor or spin. Both major parties need to work to correct so many things, Education, Jobs, Security, Environment, Energy, Federal, State and Local budgets, Tax structure, Healthcare, etc.

Write to elected officials and don't just complain. Offer Ideas, alternatives and VOTE!!!

Thanks to President Obama, we have learned more in one year about how laws are enacted, how the government functions and everything our president does or suppose to do in one year than we have since George Washington....The media disects and analyzes everything our persident does...And if he proposes anything or does somethig that no other president has done, the "right wing" and some media shout "he does not know what he is doing"; he is in over his head....There is a truism in the African American community; White people are competent until proven to be incompetent; African Americans are incompetent until proven competent...

Impatient Americans, I want it now. My fellow Americans , these kind of expectations have to change. Atlast we have a President who understands how to lay a foundation for the sustained properous future! Get off the fealings that things will turn a 180 degree turn overnight. President Obama has a vision and courage to steer this large sinking ship in the right direction. Democrates wake up (reconcile your differences and work for common grounds), Independent think twice (not to move into wrong direction towards republicans or remain silent) and Republicans (don't just follow conservatism in the skin of religion, color or faith), All of you whichever polical view you belong to support the President fully in these testing times and bring the brightest of Amercian future for years to come.
