Washington (CNN) - A top adviser to the President sounded a note of pessimism to CNN as the polls closed in Massachusetts; the adviser offered a clear shot at Martha Coakley saying: "Campaigns and candidates matter," CNN's Senior White House Correspondent Ed Henry reports.

You lose we win
What does this supposed to mean. Is Obama and his assoicates getting ready to start packing. They better they will be leaving come 2010 and 2012.
"Campaigns and candidates matter". So does what the candidate does once he is elected, which is why Obama is One and Done.
No. The American people matter. This little hope and change turned out to be business as usual in DC. Listen to what we say.
Why is it when things go wrong the Obama administration people always put the blame on someone else?
The wheels on the bus go round and round round and round the wheels on the bus go round and round for all the losing canidates.
Obama never takes the blame for anything they will end up saying the loss is Bush's fault.
the white house adviser should have advised Obama to stay at the white house instead of going to Massachusetts
I believe that Coakley will still pull through but it is going to be a nail biter. I cannot see Brown winning despite the polls suggesting otherwise. Democrats should not take their majority for granted. Republican celebration is a bit prematured. You'll see when the final results are in.
Right. Yes, Right.
Sutre is interesting how these so called "White House Officials" seem to crawl right out of the woodwork at the most appropriate time!!!!
If Coakley wanted a chance she should have told Obama to stay in the White House. Obama and the Democratic Congress are what finished her off!!!!
Obama and his agenda loss tonight. Not Coakley.
DNC should have been checking into this state. Three words: Fire Tim Kaine.
We need Dean back!
I see a bus with a Dem candidate under it. Who would do such a thing to a hand picked successor to the Kennedy throne?
They need to look at themselves here. If her campaign is bad and the race is so critical; to you then where were you guys when her campaign was faltering...Nowhere. You need to shut up and take some responsibility for this loss...
Maybe campaigns and candidates matter, but let's face it, this was mainly a verdixt on Obama and his lackeys bumbling, directionless, leaderless conduct of the Government. Ask anyone if they know what's in the health care legislation and 90% of them won't be able to tell you. This man hasn't lead on ANYTHING. He and the Dems have put us in debt that we'll never dig our way out of and he's ramped up a preposterous war that uselessly wastes our dwindling resources, both human and monetary. We must send a message to all these jokers and vote them all out of office. Enough is enough.
Ha, now they will eat their own!! This was as much about Obama's agenda and anyone foolish to think it is not has their head in the sand....
Say what?!! Throwin' her under the bus? Come on now, she tried, but the fact of the matter is this was all about Obama's liberal agenda and destructive plans for the U.S. Now that people have found out what his "change" is all about they are regretting they ever let him get so far. The Democrats better scramble to the right before it's too late.
Are there really still some folks out there that think Conservatism is dead? If so, you need to wake up to reality and grasp what just happened in the good state of Massachusetts. I hope my state follows suit and tosses Schumer and Gillibrand out. The Revolution starts in Massachusetts... again! Wonderful!!
One thing Obummies and his cronies do best is to blame Bush and other people for their incompetencies and arrogancy. These people never take any responsibility so far.
What a surprise, the Administration puts another Democrat under the bus. It's not our fault she lost, she was a bad candidate. It doesn't matter that Brown didn't run his campaign against her but the Obama agenda, it's still her fault.
Yes, they do. However, so does the way your leadership works. Arrogance and "shoving things down our throat" is not going to work anymore. You are on notice. Start working as a team, and giving us what we want, or you are gone. We ARE your employers, regardless of how much you want to ignore that.
way to go Obama – real great – someone or many should be fired for their lack of creativity and foresight in predicting this – if this is how Boma runs his ship then they deserve to lose the majority – I'm a Democrat and I'm sick of the LAME, weak, and pathetic way Democrats are conducting themselves and the people's business – way too busy playing crap politics and blustering form an incoherent mob of idiots – do you realize what your slack attitudes and vision have just allowed to happen – really OBAMA – where is the CHANGE – you ain't done nothin!
WH actions are really what democrats need to take notice of. They could be thrown under the bus by the WH at any time.
You wanted Obama, you got him.
