DeMint: 'Americans deserve a leader at TSA with integrity'

(CNN) - South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint, among those opposed to former TSA nominee Erroll Southers, issued the following statement on Southers' withdrawal:

"Americans deserve a leader at TSA with integrity and with an unwavering commitment to putting security ahead of politics. The White House never responded to requests for more information relating to Mr. Southers false testimony to Congress and his censure by the FBI for improperly accessing files. And Mr. Southers was never forthcoming about his intentions to give union bosses veto power over security decisions at our airports. TSA screeners can already join unions, but collective bargaining would force TSA officials to ask union bosses for permission to make critical security changes. The Senate could have had an open and transparent debate this week to approve Mr. Southers, but apparently, answering simple, direct questions about security and integrity were too much for this nominee. I hope the President will quickly put forward a new nominee that is fully vetted and that will put the safety of the American people first."

What DeMint really is saying, he doesn't want a black man so he puts forth the word integrity, when we all know the name game.

Jim Demint is an anti-labor red neck who represents the evolution of the plantation owner...big business.

Americans deserve to have a collective say in labor negotiations and time after time the right wing has come to the rescue of industry profits.

Jim Demint has put this country at risk for political gamesmanship. His political musings are arrogant and southernly elitist.

Actually Senator this country DEMANDS that TSA have a leader. Plain and simple.

How do you sleep with yourself senator knowing full well that your political stance regarding Southers nomination may have allowed the Xmas day bomber to do what he did.

Now you're playing politics with designees for HSA.

After seeing Demint playing with these nominations, and Cheney, Beck, Limpaugh, et al. coming out earlier almost begging for a terrorist attack, I really believe that the republicans HOPE this country is attacked again. Sick, sick, sick people...

Can you use DeMint and Integrity in the same paragraph without the universe disintegrating /

Honestly, who does DeMint think he is kidding. He opposed this man because he, like all Republicans, favors power in the hands of a few managers at the top. DeMint is on the record saying that he fears that Mr. Southers would allow TSA to become unionized.

How many Republican loving, "hard working" Americans [theGOP code for "white"] know that about this situation. At the end of the day, the Republicans have opposed a man ...who would be in favor of advancing the rights of workers. When will these "hard working" Americans begin to vote their OWN self interests?

I'll bet I can find some excuse to justify opposing anybody for any job. No doubt DeMint is attempting to do that by maligning Southers .... Is Southers black by the way .... any time someone from South Carolina is involved, I've got to wonder what the real root cause of the opposition is.

There is no disputing that, with the failed Christmas time terrorist attack, the current TSA leader .... a Republican appointed by George Bush .... is not up to the job. I'd have rather had a career aviation security professional like Erroll Southers.

Demint talks about integrity. What a joke. He and the other Senate Republicans confirmed the likes of Fredo the clown for att. gen. Way too go Brownie and a bunch of others, this guy is a total idiot.

If that's the case, make sure it is not a republican. There isn't a republican on earth with any integrity. Peoplewith integrity are a rarity in democratic circles but in republican circles they are non-existant!

The climate over the last 9 years is putting the country into more scrutiny than ever.

I wish the Senators and Congress people went through as much as they are putting other through.

Moving forward there appear to be alot of "backroom deals" trumped up prior to any congress and senate inquiries, thus less scrutiny more relationships.

"Americans deserve a leader at TSA with integrity and with an unwavering commttment to putting security ahead of politics."

Americans deserve no less from a US Senator Mr. Demint, but instead we have the likes of your kind and that is why this country has become a second class nation.

At some point, our elected officials will need to grow up and behave like responsible adults. The hearings have nothing to do with integrity as Sen. Demint tries to paint them. It is all aboout politics. Both parties engage in this childish behavior instead of looking at the true qualifications of the candidate. We, the American people, continue to suffer as a result.

I can’t believe republicans forced this guy out simply because he refused to answer questions about his integrity, they questioned his honesty (he should not have to prove his honesty), and refused to give unions the power to control our safety or shut down the country when they figure they need more money. I don’t know why all they do is say NO, stupid obstructionists; we need to vote everyone out that asks questions about what is going on, they are holding up progress. 2010 throw the bums out!!!

If you can't answer simple, direct questions about security and integrity you should have no place in our government. To bad Obama doesn't have to go through the same thing. I don't know how he will run for reelection If he actually has to answer questions.

South Carolina deserve a leader with integrity and I sure dont see that leader in Demitt. He is not doing anything for his own state he is only interested in opposing President Obama he has all but forgotten about
the poor people in his own state.
Swipe your own door step Senator. Take a look at your own Governor's
life style and the way he has ran your state into the ground.

Once again, Jim DeMint has put political gain ahead of the best interests of the nation. He raises "red herring" issues and uses them to bring the governing process to a halt. Jim DeMint is a real danger to this nation. He is an idealogue with ideas based in the a time and place long left behind by the majority of thinking people of the United States.

Odumbo sure can pick them can't he, Why Odumbo was put into office is because of stupid people.
Why couldn't you people see that?
Everyone thought he was so great and he is a great guy, But he is no leader. Just look at the people he trys to bring in to surround him self with. They are crooks just like him, but thats what you get when you hired a community organizer that ran with the wrong crowd.

Yup, stupid people hired him and we all have to watch every move Odumbo makes to ensure our country remains FREE and stupid people are taken care of.

We the people are speaking and Odumbo better get his act together.
Did you hear that we have a new senator. 🙂

That is what you get when you nominate someone simply because of the color of their skin. This guy was fired from the FBI because he was illegally pulling files and info on, and stalking innocent men who were dating his ex wife, (can you say, crazy) all the while getting paid by taxpayer money. He then lied to congress and gave them false info. The only reason this guy was nominated by Obama is because he is black, talk about racist!

If you are black don't apply for the job because the Republicans don't feel blacks have the integrity to run this country. This is not about unions as it is about the white men in this country fighting against losing it white power to people of color.
