Sanford makes surprise visit to Capitol Hill

Mark Sanford visited Washington on Thursday.
Mark Sanford visited Washington on Thursday.

Washington (CNN) – On the morning after delivering his final "State of the State" address in Columbia, South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford strolled through the Capitol rotunda Thursday afternoon along with South Carolina Rep. Bob Inglis.

Asked why he was in Washington, Sanford, a former House Member, walked toward the House floor as the chamber was about to vote and told CNN: "I was going to catch up with some friends on the House floor."

Sanford said he has not yet met Massachusetts Sen-elect Scott Brown.

Another Republican governor, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, was also visiting House lawmakers today. He is slated to meet with Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the entire House delegation from his state.

Let's see how long it takes Sen. elect Brown to get cought hiking on the Appalacian trail. He sure didn't sound like a family values guy the other night pimping his daughters to the nation.

Here's what I want to know. When Eliot Spitzer, Democratic governor of NY was caught cheating on his wife, Republicans and the so called "liberal media" hounded him out of office in a matter of days. But Sanford, and Sen. Ensign do the same thing, and not only do they not get hounded out of office, no mention is made of their infidelity.

In these times of right-wing hyperbole over the election of a gay-loving, health insurance voting, abortion rights promoting Repugnant to the Senate, it is nice to be reminded of those other R's who have dominated the news in the recent past. Upstanding values people like dear Gov. Sanford. Just the kind of guy who seems so typical of the Repugnant mentality and morality.

Mark Sanford knew that if he waited long enough, people would forget
his dereliction of duty, spending public funds etc. He is a sad, tawdry
    reflection on the Republican Party.

Sanford is likely looking for a new job, by visiting cronies who will overlook his recent escapades.

Let us hope he does not succeed.

Maybe So Caroline Gov Mark Sanford thinks he qualifies to be a member of the House now!

It seems that sex is part of the criteria for being a member of Congress.

Like newly-elected Scott Brown's nudish spread as the #1 centerfold for Cosmopolitan. If you haven't seen it, check it out on an internet search.

if you are old enough, you might remember the first Cosmo centerfold in 1972 featuring Burt Reynolds!

And then John Edwards has finally admitted fathering a child out of wedlock.

    Wait till tomorrow's news!

Suppose he's interviewing for a lobbyist position? Most likely.
He's probably there to help Arnold figure out his State's financial mess.

Top 10 States in financial trouble and their leadership
    California – R
    Illinois – D
    Arizona – R
    Nevada – R
    New Jersey – R

See a pattern? The conservatives run tight ships right?

Why is CNN not reporting that Nancy Pelosi doesn't have the votes for the HC Bill??????? But yet they have time to report Cindy McCain appearing on a gay marriage ad, Gov. Sanford heading to Capitol Hill, and John Edwards fathering a child.

CNN should be up and center reporting that Nancy Pelosi doesn't have the votes for the top domestic priority of the Obama administration. This is a major blow!

This guy is an embarrassment to everyone in government.

Why can't people put their personal ambitions aside and the the right thing for the country since their job is for the people (not themselves)?

When a Democrat messes around, Democrats usually clean house.

When a Republican messes around, Republicans usually promote him to the leadership.

    Republicans call this "morality."

When is this idiot going to shut up and resign? His state is the poorest right above Mississippi and the lowest in education. It has surpassed other Southern states in its open and sickening racism. Senators DeMint and Graham should be total embarrassments to the people of SC. The backwater Rep Joe Wilson has been a long time member of one of the most extremist white supremacist groups in SC.

Graham just blamed his state's healthcare problems on their "black population". DeMint is still calling for the failure of our government.

Wake up SC – join the rest of civilzed America and get rid of these ignorant racist fools who make SC look redneck, ignorant, and full of hate. You can rid yourselves of DeMint and Wilson in Nov and move your state into this century.

Have they not embarrassed you enough?

Has the new GOP Senator said whether or not he plans to display his nude photos in his Senate office?
