(CNN) - Bristol Palin is demanding Levi Johnston start paying up.
According to court documents filed Thursday in Alaska and posted on the Web site TMZ, the 19 year-old daughter of Sarah Palin is demanding the father of her one year-old son pay $1,750 a month in child support payments.
Palin is also seeking back payments beginning from late December 2008, when the child was born.
According to the court filing, Palin says Johnston made "in excess of 105,000 in 2009 through various media interviews and modeling related activities."
Palin also says she has received only "sporadic financial assistance" from Johnston over the last year - $4,400 in total.
Johnston's manager contends Palin has been paid more than $10,000 by Johnston since her son was born, according to TMZ.
Palin's attorney, Thomas Van Flein, said in a statement to CNN: "Bristol has set forth the facts regarding child support in her affidavit filed in court. The law in Alaska is clear: a parent is obligated to support his or her child. It is unfortunate Bristol has to seek court intervention in this regard."

Is Bristol still claimed by her mother as a dependent?
If so, she shouldn't get a dime.
Some, who comment without knowledge, say she needs to get a job or enroll in college.
She has a job and is attending school.
It's strange that liberals support Levi Johnston and support not paying child support.
Visitation and Child Support have nothing to do with each other. Visitation cannot be halted due to non payment. Nor can it be assumed that visitation is due because support is paid. If the father is off bad mouthing the mother's family he should not have access to the child. He is the father (I use that term loosely) he is obligated to support the child. The mother on the other hand should only use that support for the child...I receive support for my child and it all goes to his clothes, activities etc. Anything left after that goes into HIS account. I provide a roof over his head, food, etc.
What a load of utter garbage. How about this... Bristal Palin GETS A JOB. Shocking, I know. What a horrible idea.

I can't believe the number of people that are ridiculing Bristol for asking for child support! Each state has a formula that is used to calculate child support. The amount of child support to be paid is directly related to the amount of income of each parent. And, Bristol doesn't get to ask for more from Johnston just because she doesn't work.
Should Johnston really not have to pay child support because the Palin family has money? He has an obligation to support his child, no matter who is the mother.
Someone earlier posted "it takes two to tango." Well, you are definitely right. However, this also means that BOTH of them have to responsible for supporting the child.
If he doesn't want to pay as much child support, he should quit giving the sleazy interviews and posing nude...then he wouldn't be making the "big bucks." I think Bristol should collect every penny owed to her and her child. He has done nothing but use this as a money-making situation from the beginning.
Comments are unbelievable. When a father DOESNT pay child support, everyone calls him a dead-beat dad. Why is it that ONLY when a Palin asks for child support like every other divorced/separated mother, that she is evil? The amount of child suport that is requested that is CALCULATED based on that state's STANDARD child support schedule based on income. That is how it is for ALL child support decisions. SOME OF YOU PEOPLE ARE IDIOTS! I do believe Levi should be involved in his child's life as well. Why can't people see both sides of every story?
Mr. Johnson should pay a fair and equitable amount of child support. But first, DNA testing should be done to make sure it is his, and Ms. Palin shold be required to work to contribute the same amount he is asked to.
Seems like both of these kid/parents had very poor family role models.
Bristol should have thought about child support prior to being on stage, pregnant and unmarried. There are so many issues surrounding the Palin comedy hour that would have overwhelmed a 30 year old, let alone an 17, 18 year old. Sheesh!
Just another way to try and get woman's support for Palin. Her poor, poor abused daughter. If she wants her family out of the news, why does she keep putting them in the news?
Somebody is telling a slight lie. If Levi has not paid up he needs to "Man-Up". If Bristol has gotten the money or some money then she needs to take it to the courts like normal people and shut-up. This Palin family is getting to be like moths. They are forever drawn to the lights.

It's based on the income of both parents, so if his $105k means he should be paying $1750 a month, he should be paying $1750 a month. My ex pays $700 a month for our child but he doesn't make $105k. This isn't money grubbing (And I'm a Democrat that voted for Obama), this is what he is responsible for. He is the father of that child and he should be paying what the State decides he should be paying.
Levi is just another one of those dead beat dads out there. His 15 minutes of fame are pretty much over and his true colors are shining through. Pay up Levi and be a responsible adult!
I think this is a private matter and should be treated quietly as such. The Palins don't need to start using their family problems to keep themselves in the limelight.
Wow, $1900 is a little steep for child support payments from a 19 year old guy. I'm sure the formula the courts use to determine the payment amount was not taken into account. Is she working yet?

It's a shame that Brisol has to rely on that useless excuse for anything. She is too classy to have to be connected to him in any way, shape or form. Am also sorry the baby has to grow up admitting that he is his father.
Yeah, because getting knocked up out of wedlock when you are a teenager and your mom runs on a family values campaign and preeches abstainance education screams classy.

$1,750.00? That's crazy!!! I paid $325 per child here in Maryland after my divorce. What is she high or something? Don't get me wrong Levi needs to "Man Up" and care for his child.

She's asking for $21,000 per year in Alaska where milk is over $8 per gallon. She needs a lot more than that is she were to raise the kid on her own.
One thing that many here are failing to consider is not just the dollar amount, but the amount of time that is factored in to take care of a child. As a parent, I can tell that it is considerable. Levi needs to understand that you cannot simply be a sperm depositor in this life without the consequences and responsibilities that come along with it. He has sent $4,400 in total while gallivanting around the country? Wow, what an outstanding "father". It is time to do the right thing and become involved in the child’s life.
This is why people should not have sex – neither before nor during nor after marriage.

For lots of you if she wasn't Sarah Palin's daughter and you have such vitriol for her you would say he needs to pay. If you want to play you have to pay. He would not have made near this much if he had not been associated with the Palin's. Plus I spent two months in Alaska this summer. It is very expensive.
