(CNN) - Bristol Palin is demanding Levi Johnston start paying up.
According to court documents filed Thursday in Alaska and posted on the Web site TMZ, the 19 year-old daughter of Sarah Palin is demanding the father of her one year-old son pay $1,750 a month in child support payments.
Palin is also seeking back payments beginning from late December 2008, when the child was born.
According to the court filing, Palin says Johnston made "in excess of 105,000 in 2009 through various media interviews and modeling related activities."
Palin also says she has received only "sporadic financial assistance" from Johnston over the last year - $4,400 in total.
Johnston's manager contends Palin has been paid more than $10,000 by Johnston since her son was born, according to TMZ.
Palin's attorney, Thomas Van Flein, said in a statement to CNN: "Bristol has set forth the facts regarding child support in her affidavit filed in court. The law in Alaska is clear: a parent is obligated to support his or her child. It is unfortunate Bristol has to seek court intervention in this regard."

Why does Bristol need support when she lives with her mom? Isn't she still underaged too?
Anytime the Palins are in the news, it's by design. They are world class publicity hounds, and wll do anything and everything to keep their names in the public eye.
Palin grow up and get a job. Yes he should support his child, but $1750 a month, sounds like you're expecting him to financially support his child 100% and you none. And you're complaining about what you have gotten so far?
I guess I'm just a regular mom, but I get less than $200 a month and that's when he pays.
You made an adult decision to have sex, to have a baby, now be an adult and get a job so that you also financially support your child.
Is there a court order for child support? Bristol can't just come up with a number and demand it! The Palin world of entitlements... Sounds like her mom put her up to this – she needs some support now that she doesn't have a real job (and hopefully never will).

Each can pay for the child, from their own salary, for the child's needs that occur while at that parent – there should be no transfer of money from one parent to the other – $1750 is spousal support, its Bristol between collecting child support and government welfare (yes, she's on a type of welfare – child support doesn't have to be counted as income, so guess what, the money starts rolling in from the EIC program at tax time), so she doesn't have to work for the next 18 years, because she had a baby.
Wow, what a deal.
The whole idea that one is going to sit on her duff and collect money from the other who is going to work – that one is going to take all control, while the other might get a visitation here or there – is absurd.

I can't stand the Palin's, having said that, I don't think Levi should get
away with paying nothing. He should pay child support in accordance

If you're old enough to sleep with your girlfriend, get her pregnant, you
should man up & pay decent child support, it's your child too!
I think the dirtbag should owe up! Who cares if her mom makes a lot of money and can support her. She shouldn't have to depend on her mother to support her and her child. He needs to be partially responsible and contribute to his childs support. The percentage that she is asking is below what child support usually seeks from income.
Looks like Levi has turned out to be a real slug.

He needs to pay his share based on the law of Alaska in relation percentage of income just like any other parent. Teen pregnancy a mistake you can't run from.

Er, since when does Bristol have sole custody? Last I heard she was not letting him see the child, why should he pay her? They both deserve equal custody, equal time, and no child support!
No child support for her – she lives in a giant multi million dollar house, won't let him see his kid, and she wants money? She's her mother's daughter.
He is responsible, under state law, as the father of the child, to pay child support. Period. No matter how much the mother makes, no matter what the court decided about visitation, he is responsible for supporting the child he created under the law.
The amount that is being asked for is (as almost always) a percentage of the fathers income. Around 20%, which is completely reasonable.
People that say this is outrageous are hypocrites, who think that Levi should not have to obey the laws that *everyone else* does, because they don't like Bristol's mother!
This about the custody battle, not about money. Bristol's lawyers are trying to make a case that Levi is not taking responsibility about the baby and therefore Bristol should get sole custody. Which is totally upside down – if a teenager is presented with a bill but little access to his son, of course he will not be psyched to pay. But our family courts are anyway so full of perjury that we should just arrest both parties by default until they can prove they are not lying under oath.

$1700 is really nothing when you have that type of income.
I made only $500 a month since I was a full time mom of 5 and had to pay my ex who I shared custody of 2 of the kids with a whopping $1240 / mth in support for his 50%... now that is ridiculous! He meanwhile refused to get anything above a minimum wage job because he wanted to claim welfare.
Now the shoe is on the other foot, I have full custody and how much is he supposed to pay? $150 / mth. Have I seen one red penny? NO!
Ladies, the lesson here is not to mingle with boys from "the wrong side of the tracks". The system is horribly broken and you will get burned.
I have been down that road... but seriously $1750 a month child support? I had to take my ex to court several times because he would find reasons to not pay, so it isn't that I don't sympathize but you should not look to get rich of the money that is supposed to be for your child. You support yourself and the TWO of you support your child.
