Obama heads back to Ohio

Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama heads back to Ohio Friday, his fourth trip to the state since assuming the presidency a year ago.

Obama meets with voters at a community college in Elyria, Ohio, in the northeast part of the Buckeye State. The White House says the president will talk with workers and business owners about putting more Americans back to work. The trip to Lorian Country is the second stop on the what the administration calls the "White House to Main Street Tour."

The unemployment level in Ohio now stands at 10.9 percent.

President Obama first visited Ohio on March 6 of last year. The president attended a police class graduation in Columbus as part of a trip to tout the federal stimulus plan. Obama returned on July 23, to speak to voters at a townhall in Shaker Heights and made a third visit last year on September 7 to attend an AFL-CIO Labor Day picnic in Cincinnati.

Ohio is a crucial state in presidential elections. Obama won Ohio by 5 points over Republican Sen. John McCain in the 2008 election. According to a Quinnipiac University poll conducted in November, 45 percent of voters in the state approved of the job Obama's doing in the White House, with half of those questioned disapproving of his performance as president.

Ohio also has some high profile contests this November, including governor and senator.

  2. Obama back campaigning as country tanks

Obama is back to the campaign trail – more interested in a second term than he is at fixing the country. Predient O'blah blah AKA O'Blamo was all talk and no substance during the campaign, so voters ought not be surprised that during his first year in office he has been all talk and no action...... well, except for spending a ton on pork and increasing our deficit by more than all previous Presidents COMBINED

The President has a lot of explaining to do on this trip. I am sure Homeland Security and the FBI will be clearing the parking lot of pick-up trucks, the latest political victim in America. My President needs to clean out his own team in Washington of their baggage before he can start again with visits to see real people.

A main street tour is exactly what he should do now. He rightly figures that independant voters elected him and Mr Brown so if he can win over the independant voters he can win over Brown on some issues even though he is a Republican.

  7. 8 Years of the Bush Error = Recession and Record Unemployment for ? Years.

I am employed and have health insurance but the cons did not want money spent on health care of the poor or underemployed.

They said "health care is not a Constitutional right"!

Neither is a job, if I were as hateful as cons I would say stop spending my tax dollars trying to create jobs for these loafers.

IF I were a HATEFUL con.

Health care cannot be "socialism" without job creation being socialism.

    President Obama,

If you go on a 2010 nation wide campaign tour stumping for Democrats with the same results as seen recently in Virginia, Massachusetts, and Connecticut; I for one will be happy to see you on your way. Make sure you hit all 57 states!

So, because Ohio is a crucial state for Presidential elections he's going to keep going there to explain his policies. Maybe then the people of Ohio could spread out and tell the rest of the country since we're not in "crucial" states. And he wonders why people aren't happy?

Thank you President Obama. You are trying very hard to help people. People need to understand that you just can't snap your fingers and the jobs will appear. The jobs disappeared under the Bush adminstration and very little was said or done to stop Bush from taking this country down. I am a former republican and I don't want to be a party of "NO" They don't understand the poor, the economy, national security, the ball was dropped under Bush, etc. As long as their needs are met, they don't care about anyone else!!

If he wants to create jobs, it won't help to go meet with the unemployed. He needs to be meeting with investors and asking businesses to bring manufacturing jobs back from China and tech and communication jobs back from India. He needs to be convincing unions to backstep several miles on their steep demands from businesses, which is what caused them to move a $50.00 an hour American job to China for $3.00 and hour. He needs to drastically cut taxes on small businesses so that they can rehire a few people. He needs to stop the Bush tax cuts that created no jobs at all. He needs to stop coddling bankers, their bonuses, their horrible practices and call them out at every turn.

Obama has shown himself to be a great speech (with a teleprompter) giver, all talk and no real action... just wasting more taxpayer money traipsing around the country.

Uh oh................this could get real ugly. How do you possibly tell a town with over 10% unemployment that you have wasted over a year with complete control over every chamber of government and took $787 billion dollars of taxpayer money and created 3,200 temporary union jobs? Completely wasted an entire year on a healthcare bill that covered illegals, and abortions, and raised health insurance premiums on everyone else? An entire year of complete and utter arrogance toward the people who voted him in. Uh oh............. the experiment is over, Obama is finished.

The last sentence of this article states the real reason for Obama's trip. If he was truly onterested in creating long term jobs, he would not make deals with unions and he would understand taxation of employers takes money away from job creation! He is an eloquent speaker who only has his special interests at heart.

If Obama wants any chance to win Ohio he should stay away. His track record speaks for itself.

    Obama Approval Index: -18
    Strongly Approve 25%
    Strongly Disapprove 43%

  20. Campaign trail

Does Obama know how to lead?

He is constantly on the campaign trail more or less. The last sentence says it all, high profile elections in Ohio coming up. So he is in Ohio campaigning.

Instead he should be back in DC. His Democratics are flailing like fish out of water. He has had a MAJORITY and could not get his health care passed. People point fingers at the republicans, but yet in all reality, they could not stop any bill Obama wanted passed. His own party failed to get it done.

But yet here he is, giving speeches, stumping for Coakly last week and trying to win votes in Ohio. It says he wants to talk about putting folks backt o work, well when will the lip service stop and action begin. Instead, he spends time trying to win votes and things like the Olympics. Stop blaming Bush, and get to work. Obama has done nothing in 12 months with a one party rule.

The Clean energy Oboma is talking about is not a reality. The problem is in storage of energy. The current battery technology for storage of power is not capable of holding the energy for demand. Any public money spent on his idea will be a disaster. Sure we can get power from the sun and wind but it is small compared to the investment and it must be consumed immediately due to inability to economically store it. The environmental movement is good but we do not have the technology to do what oboma wants. If it were a reality there would be a lot more solar and wind powered homes now. The reality is anyone looking into a system for their home finds the investment never pays off in captured power. What makes the government think They can. When it is feasible I will put the system in my home. It just is not a reality until the technology improves.

The "White House to Main Street Tour."????

The White House should have been listening a long time ago! The only reason why the White House is interested in Main Street now is because Main Street all the Dems where to go on Tuesday night! Obama can beg for my vote all he wants – he will never get it!

  24. Enough is Enought

Businesses create jobs unions destroy jobs. Mr President why can't you understand this, you are backing the wrong group. You had a jobs summit and didn't invite the chamber of commerce.

  25. Glad Gitmo is not closing today as scheduled....

hopefully Obama will start reading the polls in Mass. and elsewhere and stop reading Miranda rights to terrorists: stop providing them with lawyers at taxpayer expense: start sending them to Gitmo; and start interrogating them to get valuable info that can save American lives....

Otherwise the Dems. can start packing their bags in Nov. and Obama will be ONE and DONE.
