State jobless rates on the rise

New York (CNNMoney.com) - A total of 43 states reported rising jobless rates in December, reversing signs of improvement seen the month before, according to a government report released Friday.

Overall, jobless rates increased in those states and the District of Columbia last month and fell in four states, according to the Labor Department's monthly report on state unemployment. Three states reported no change.

In November, 36 states reported a monthly decrease in the unemployment rate.

Business create jobs, small-middle size-large, Obama wants government to increase jobs. The problem is Obama is at war with business. His war comes in many ways and creates uncertainty and that causes the stock market to decline and business to freeze and hold fast on expanding and/or hiring.

Corporations own the government, no matter which party is in charge. With yesterday's Extreme Court decision, there is no longer even a pretense of "of, by, and for the people". We all serve the corporations, and if it be their will that we have no jobs, that's the way it will be. Politicians from both parties depend for their livelihood on corporate bribes, now designated as "free speech". Any remnants of democracy supporters will be hounded out of office by corporations funding their opponents.

The last nail is in the coffin of democracy.

Thanks for the update, but I also heard that they didnt do it right. I think there's a balance to go about doing it and effectively achieve maximum benefits. I dont know how, but I know with brilliant brains like America, there's someone out there to lead us.

For the moment, I want to move forward into the Jetston Age. I'm not voting for an elephant so I can keep staying in the stone-age.

Policies need to be balanced. WE need common sense policies. Where are the brains? Obama needs to bring in decorated Nobel Prize economists. I'm sure they know how to pro-rate the situation. They dont need donkeys or elephants telling them what to do. They know exactly what the formula is..

    Hey Donkey Party,

Your comment about the Obstuctionist right wingers, maybe you need facts here.

Democrats have controlled the power for three years now. In the last year alone they had a HUGE majority. The democrats could have done anything they wanted, they we filibuster proof. But yet, they failed to pass Health Care.
And the stimulus that was supposed to keep unemployement under 8%,,,,,, gee what happened there?
Obama, Pelosi and Ried have done NOTHING to help unemployment.

And where is Obama now,,,,, stumping in Ohio. On the campaign trail again.

International Trade is useless if other countries won't buy your goods. China is the problem, NOT Dems or Reps!

    @Aunt Bea and Opie:

For months I have read your liberal drivel and Bush Blame Game.

Now that fiscal conservatism is taking shape in Washington perhaps the time has come for you to get off welfare and get a job in Mayberry!

Hard-working Americans are sick and tired of carrying people like you on our backs! Floyd the Barber has an opening. Let's try carrying our own weight for A CHANGE even YOU can believe in!

Donkey Party: So if unemployment rates go down, Obama and the Democrats get credit. If unemployment goes up, it's the GOP's fault.

Got it. Double Standard in full effect.

We must start working on clean energy and become less dependent on oil which will create jobs. I don't understand why Americans can't see the importance of this now when we don't know whether those countries we buy from aren't running out of supply. Imagine what would happen to Americans when that day is here, everything will shut down. Wakeup out there people and stop fighting with our President and join him in the fight for our future.

And, based on Obama's speech in Ohio............his solutions for unemployment are green jobs and weather proofing houses????

I heard an economist say 2 weeks ago...............

In order for the unemployment rate to get back down to 5%---285,000 jobs per month---over the next 5 years will need to be created.

The Democrats won't even have the unemployment rate back down to 8% before the 2010 elections--unless they get the media to support their cooked numbers and fuzzy math---as it is NOT mathematically possible.

The Democrats are going to get clobbered in 2010.
