State jobless rates on the rise

New York (CNNMoney.com) - A total of 43 states reported rising jobless rates in December, reversing signs of improvement seen the month before, according to a government report released Friday.

Overall, jobless rates increased in those states and the District of Columbia last month and fell in four states, according to the Labor Department's monthly report on state unemployment. Three states reported no change.

In November, 36 states reported a monthly decrease in the unemployment rate.

In a political atmosphere made toxic by the Obstructionists, one can only wonder where the country would be if the Right-wingers didn't try to thwart progress at every opportunity they had. It is more likely that I would run-over a Right-winger with my truck than ever vote for one again.

No problem... we'll just throw together a ton of political payback pork projects package for a trillion dollars and call it a "stimulus". That will keep the sheep quiet for a little while.

Move along... nothing to see here... let's keep it moving along, folks...

Let's see if this news on top of the historic Massachusetts Senatorial election spurs a few more Democratic Congressmen to abandon their re-election ambitions.

Duhh the unemployment rate is going back up because the holidays are over and companies are worried about Obama's tax and spend ways.

  10. Randolph Carter, I'm no expert but....

And, of course the corporate spin-meisters will blame this on the current administration and its policies instead of on the real culprit: unregulated global capitalism. Yeah, tax breaks for the rich result in job creation.... in India and China! How's that trickle down prosperity working out for y'all, consumerbots? I hear Walmart's is having a sale on lead-painted baby formula. Better drive your gas guzzling SUV down there before they run out. Have a nice day!

The Corporate Fascists that helped Obama get in Office no longer need him or either party. The complete takeover has begun with the Supremes vote, even Limbaugh can count his days before his service to them is no longer needed.

Jobless rates are going to continue to rise, because the leaders of America, thought they should ignore the fact, that mostly all of America's manufacturing had been sent to China.

Those jobs are now lost forever, and there is nothing to replace them.

Thanks, Congress, for doing nothing to stop the wholesaling of America.

Obama should not get all of the blame for the double digit unemployment rate. The rest of the blame goes to the democrats in congress who have held power now for three years. Obama is becoming a political albatross for many of the dems that are up for re-election which will make great entertainment in November.

As long as businesses anticipate being hit by the huge tax increases made necessary by the Dems' insane spending sprees, they're not going to take the risk of hiring people–an expensive process all by itself–they're not sure they're going to be able to afford to keep. It's less likely now, but as long as businesses aren't sure how much their health benefit costs will go up under Obamacare, they're going to be reluctant to hire people–how do they know Obamacare won't blow their benefits budgets apart?

The more of America's wealth and resources are sucked up by government, the less will be available to (re)grow the economy. Think what you like about big, bad, greedy, corporations, but they're the source of America's productivity and economic power, and they're where the jobs are–if government will leave them alone to create the jobs.

What was it that the liberals expected when they doled out the federal porkulus money to unions, Nancy Pelosi's wine train and Harry Reid's gambling train? Of course they also made provisions for giving the money to all kinds of other left wing organizations that don't have a clue about the economy, creating jobs or anything except creating more government entitlements and more government dependence. The people are ideological dolts, that don't have a clue about how the real world works. Many are now running the media, so they slather love and credit common sense to the dolt currently occupying the White House. The best thing that can happen is Obama wait out the next three years in the Oval Office closet and not come out or say a word.

Just another sign that the stimulus/bailouts are not the answer. The media can spin it any way that they want but they did not help and will not help creat jobs. Only line the pockets of political cohorts.

Can you say DOUBLE DIP RECESSION?! Yes, I knew you could...

Employers will NOT be hiring unless they know this economy is turning around FOR SURE and the Democrats will not tax them and regulate them to death. This Socialist administration has turned making a profit into a felony offense.

Now that Mr. 41 has taken Kennedy's old seat, there may be hope on the horizon. Now THAT is change **I** can believe in!!

77% of investors think Obama is ANTI-BUSINESS, what can you expect? Democrats hates corporations that creates job, put Americans to work. Do you expect a welfare recipient to hire workers?

Spain went to green jobs, and after all the subsidies and losses of revenue from their Coal,Oil and gas industry , each green job cost them $460,000.00 dollars and now they are having economic problems because they had to raise taxes to cover the increases in cost and the energy prices went through the ceiling.

Just got what maybe a great idea. perhaps we should start pushing Obozo to just resign. Sure we would be stuck with Joe the Gaffer as president for three more years, but hopefully, he will just sit in the White House and tell stories of his greatness and not mess with the economy or anything else. We could have Hussein write his book, pay him his pension and provide his secret service detail and he can even go back and play Chicago style politics in Chicago (that city is already ruined, he can't really do much harm there). Resign Obama, RESIGN, you are an incapable dolt. For the good of this country RESIGN.

Business, big and small, are under attack from the democrats. What else can one expect them to do but to shed jobs, hunker down, and wait until the next election to see if economic common sense gets elected to Washington.

Welcome to Obamanomics, another word for Stagflation.
