Begala: McDonnell's rhetoric rings false

(CNN) – Gov. Bob McDonnell reads standard GOP talking points very well.

"We hate government, blah, blah, blah." Let's see him turn down the federal money that's keeping Virginia afloat. After he finishes attacking the government, McDonnell will go into a government limousine, with a government driver and ride to a government-provided mansion.

If he hates government so much why has he spent his life in it? Still, he's done a good job on a thankless task. No one should follow Barack Obama.

If a Republican found Paul Begala's wallet and returned to him he wouldn't have the decency to say anything good about him. He is the most irritating partisan pundit on the scene.

but but but, begala, don't you realize? big gov't bad, big corporations good! corporations are supposed to run the country! the scotus just said so! we're supposed to dissolve the federal gov't and submit our governance to massive corporate interests. at least then it will be out in the open...not indirect, but direct...get under that CEO's desk...

This is a very weird and simplistic remark to say the least.

Mr. Begala, as usual, has made a significant contribution to the discussion.

Very condescending. He doesn't hate government. He is saying exactly what our founding fathers said about oversize and intrusive government. Stop pandering. Or do you really believe this drivel?

Having that audience clapping and cheering McDonnell's words seemed very phony to me. His response wasn't really a response to Obama's words. It sounded like a very canned Republican speech.

I'm sure that Brit exHumed can feel justified that none of his right wing friends in Congress has a health care bill ready for debate.

Begala is an idiot. Republicans don't hate government. They hate excessive, ineffective, intrusive, corrupt, unaffordable government that is so expensive it chokes the economy and threatens the nations financial security.

McDonnell's words were quite empty in respect to any plans to go with his ideas and he also was not completely factual in any convincing way.
