Begala: McDonnell's rhetoric rings false

(CNN) – Gov. Bob McDonnell reads standard GOP talking points very well.

"We hate government, blah, blah, blah." Let's see him turn down the federal money that's keeping Virginia afloat. After he finishes attacking the government, McDonnell will go into a government limousine, with a government driver and ride to a government-provided mansion.

If he hates government so much why has he spent his life in it? Still, he's done a good job on a thankless task. No one should follow Barack Obama.

So Paul Begala is a Democratic Strategist? Maybe he can shed some light on what the Democratic strategy is, because many of us don't understand it. Spending money we don't have? Ignoring a deficit that they abhorred before they won control of the Senate and House? Calling Republicans hateful.

You are so out of touch with reality.

He was talking about the federal governments interference with local governance, and the freedom that all men and women SHOULD enjoy in this Country. Idiot.

I have not seen a big cheer leader for the dems and the president than Paul Begala. I switch the channel every time he appears on TV. I am an independent very leaning democrats. But more democratic strategist like him would totally turn me away. Clowns!

Is it really necessary to have Begala on? He doesn't add anything insightful to the program, just pure partisan nonsense. It is really sad how predictable he is.

Overall i rate Obama as a C- for handling everything... his speech however failed to head towards the middle mark in uniting the parties and although he acknowledged that unemployment affects 10% of Americans... he failed to admit it was his fault.. not something that any past President (including Bush did.. not a fan btw). the stimulus was supposed to stop unemployment at 8%.. its at 10.2%.. the whole thing is sketchy, and to mention climate change during an economic crisis was very shocking. As well as calling out the Supreme Court and challenging their right to justify the constitution. I honest don't think obama will change his ways, and i believe a democrat majority in congress following 2010 will be no more.

Whenever the Republicans say "we need to get government out of people's business" I hear "let's let big corporations make obscene profits through unethical business practices without government interference." Wasn't it small government and lack of regulations that led us into this financial meltdown in the first place? Lack of oversight of Wall Street and mortgage lending practices? And Republicans are still trying to convince us that this is the best thing for the country????

Obama tonight was arrogant, sarcastic, and boring. He's out of touch with the voters of MA, and he's lost his touch with the teleprompter.

Very intelligent commentary Paul. Is that all you, George and Rahm could come up with at your weekly brunch? Still, defending Obama's droning, rambling and entirely disconnected performance (did he forget he's been President the past year?) must be a tough task.

When is Obama going to stop campaigning and start governing?

It always sounds like he's campaigning, but nothing has come of it. He had the House and Senate for a whole year, couldn't get health care passed and it's the republicans fault, it's Bush's faults.

It's everyone fault except for the democrats.

I live in Virginia, and it's embarassing to have a governor who is obviously such a pawn. And to say that the Republicans are interested in bipartisanship is absurd. REALLY? How interesting. I guess that's why so many of them sat on their hands during the President's speech tonight.

And what do you say, Mr. Begala, to Nancy Pelosi spending over $1 million of TAXPAYER money on her recent trip?

Coakleyd: A politician in a "safe" seat with lots of support from bigwig party members, or just historically safe, gets beat by an unknown in the last weeks of the campaign. i.e. Due to her extreme arrogance the first female Speaker of the House was Coakleyd in 2010.

McDonnell's follow-up in the setting of the Va. Courthouse was rediculous. I have to admit I didn't watch or listen. All I could see was the nude model centerfold. These Republicans are amazing.

Maybe McDonnell should have watched the State of the Union address because MOST of what he said are the same ISSUES President Obama talked about!!!

He better find some money to save the jobs that are about to HIT THE FAN in his own state!!! You're talking about TEACHERS, FIREFIGHTERS, POLICEMEN and others are losing jobs come end of fiscal – which is the end of June, 2010. Last year, STIMULUS saved us!!

It amazes me that the people who claim to hate government spending so much are the same ones who have lived off of taxpaer dollars their entire lives. They're lying.
