Washington (CNN) – President Barack Obama signed a bill Wednesday expanding federal assistance to American survivors of the recent earthquake in Haiti, according to a White House statement.
The measure allows the Department of Health and Human Services to spend up to $25 million this year helping repatriated U.S. citizens previously residing in the stricken Caribbean nation.
The department had previously been allowed to spend no more than $1 million.
we have lots of money.... ugh...
And the Republicans unanimously said: "NO!!!! Too much spending!!"
Oh, this must be "stimulus" money.
So, which is it... are we saving or creating jobs for these Haitian dwellers?
The Obamunist is doing a great job, saving and creating jobs for Republican candidates this fall. 2010 is going to be an electoral blowout for the history books, the scale of which we've never before seen.
Hope you enjoyed your first year, Barry, because with the election of Scott Brown, you've now entered Lame Duck status faster than any other one-term American president in history... 364 days, one day short of a full year. Niiiiiice...
Why do Republicans hate their country so much?
They really need to purify their party so all the crazies will be in one place.
Even if they are ultra-wealthy and/or maintain homes here, too? Too bad the Katrina folks did not do so well. This needs to be only for folks who can prove significant loss. Trauma is one thing and dollars for the wealthy is another!
Watching rich people suck up all our hard earned money gives me a heavy case of Big Time Trauma! Hmmm?
J.P. Are you sleeping with Brown? If not you should be!!
Start the comparisons of animals and quake survivors by the GOP in 5.... 4... 3.. 2....1...
So if my house burns down and I don't have insurance, will Uncle Sam buy me a new house? This payout is no different than the ones that were paid to the survivors of the twin towers. It's just wrong!
I'd like to help the people who actually have to stay in Haiti, not Americans coming home. They made the choice to go down there.
Now helping the kids is a different story. If there are orphaned Americans down there, of course we should help them. If Americans want to adopt kids, the process should be expedited, after thoroughly checking the prospective parents’ background.
Charity for others seems to set the repos off but if it was one of their own it would be a different story. Most repos only think of them selves. I believe these are American citizens.I guess if they live in Haiti we don't help them . Great way to be you repo christians . Hey Jp since you like scott brown so much maybe he will give you an autographed pin up for your wall. Do you want his or his wifes?
