(CNN) - Everyone keeps saying the focus of the American people is on the deficit. Really? Who do you know that is actually discussing the deficit? If they are, they likely have a job, got money in the stock market, and really aren't hurting in this economy.
Broke ass folks or those struggling to pay their mortgage aren't focusing on the deficit. They are worried about how they will stay in their home! This is what happens with elites - Democrat or Republican. They don't truly care about the everyday man or woman.

Everyone had better care about the deficit. All this out of controll spending is going to lead to out of controll inflation and then everyone including those out of jobs will be hurting even more.
I firmly believe our President cares about the lives of us the American people.

It is amazing to me that when the last administration was rolling up record deficits, no was crying about it. Now, it is a threat to our future? Please, give me a break. It sounds like the Repubs are just trying to find any subject to hold on to to bring this administration, which is at least trying to help the middle class folks in this country, down to its knees. It is pitiful, dishonest and shameful!!!

Anyone with a basic understanding of economics is concerned about the deficit. If it's not brought under control, there will be a LOT more "broke ass" people. Just because someone has a job, doesn't mean they are 'elites' and don't care.
Why is everyone now so concerned about the deficit? No one cared when in good economic times it was growing. Good economic times is the time to pay it down. That is time to raise taxes and cut spending but instead we cut taxes and raised spending.
Also, all these people crying about the deficit, please explain in detail how much you could cut it by and how you would accomplish it.
Anyone can get up on a soapbox and cry Cut the Deficit!! But very few seem to want to say how.
Mr Martin these are some of the smartest remrks made . You are right on. The people hollering about the deficet and the mess we are supposidly leaving our grand kids are all upper middle or well off people with jobs health insurance good retirement plans and stock and money in the bank. I know I hear them every day and wish I where in their shoes.
You are correct, Roland. The majority of my life, the U S has had a deficit budget. It is not new. For all those past years, where was the voices for and being serious about the deficit. When, Clinton finally acheived a budget that was black, in less than a year we were in a war with Iraq. The Vice President's old company was doing most of the civilian jobs in Iraq without bidding or competeing for contracts. All of a sudden those who are doing well want a balanced budget and reduce the deficit. There are many Americans who want a job more.
So absolutely true. Guess you are the only one out there who understands that.
Elites are not the only ones worried about the deficit. Any one who has ever balanced their checkbook or tried to balance it, when there is more going out than coming in, is worried about the deficit!
You are right.. Obama does not care.. he is nothing but a big govt spending machine.
