'You lie!' congressman to respond to Obama address

Wilson is organizing his own response to President Obama.

Wilson is organizing his own response to President Obama.

(CNN) - Rep. Joe Wilson, the South Carolina Republican made famous after shouting "You lie!" at President Barack Obama last September, is set to give his own response to the president's State of the Union Address Wednesday.

Wilson's re-election campaign says the response will occur live via Facebook and will include questions from viewers.

"Joe Wilson is using every tool at his disposal to get Washington to start listening to the American people," said Wilson Campaign Manager, Dustin Olson in a statement. "Whether on Facebook or over coffee in South Carolina diners, Joe Wilson is taking the message of everyday Americans to Washington: 'Stop growing government and start growing jobs."

The once relatively-obscure congressman raised close to $3 million in the immediate days after his outburst at Obama's health care address to a joint session of Congress on September 9. Meanwhile, Rob Miller - Wilson's Democratic opponent in this year's congressional election - collected close to $1.7 million in the days following the outburst.

The combined cash haul is likely to transform what was once a low profile congressional race into what appears will be the most expensive campaign for a House seat in South Carolina history.

Well he was right then and he's probably been right many times since. Wingnut lies with the greatest of ease. I wonder if he really believes his own lies. I guess that would indicate mental instability.

Hopefully, someone in Joe Wilson's audience will tell him "you lie". What an abomination he is. Why does anyone want to listen to him or better yet send him $$. I don't care if he is a democrat or a republican-he is an adolescent racist without any southern manners that he is suppose to represent. Send him to the Jerry Springer show.

I predict that he will say something bone-headed and he'll regret this night. He ain't as smart as he thinks he is. Question for Wilson, when are you going to grow some jobs for poor ol' South Carolin?

Beautiful... So a guy who obviously has not a big of a control of his own temper, and showed it publically with his disrespectful interruption of a sitting POTUS' speech to the House (and when it had ever happened before?), is the one that will 'respond' to the first 'State of the Union' speech of the same POTUS?
Come on, the Republicans have a lot of more qualified men and women to do that...
But almost no one as popular in their bases as it seems...

It is clear his apology from the last time was really heart felt. His contrition is really apparent in taking on this role.

    Not so classy Joe.

Man, I hope he stands up again and declares that Obama is a liar. I know that the truth is something that liberals fear, but Obama is a world class liar. He has lied in regards to promises he made during his presidential campaign, he lied about policies he was going to institute, he lied about transparency, he lied about being bi-partisan, he lied about he intentions in dealing with terrorist, and the list goes on and on. Face is dems, this president has made his career, nay...his life, by telling lies. I believe this is a main reason why the tide is turning to the GOP. People may not always agree with their policies, but at least they know what they are getting. With Barry and his crew, it changes everyday.

Even if I would be a republican.. Would I hear to this classless, immature, obnoxious, rude individual? He is not someone that would inspire class to children.. This guy has more hate than compassion or class... typical republican.

Hey Joe, Don't forget to bring up your still fighting the civil war down there in SC. You know attack everything that don't fit your personal and political agenda!! You are the new face of the republican party(Tea party,neo-con) I know you will do them proud by attacking a sitting president no matter what he says. Sad to think that you think by rediculing the president you will get more money to run you campain with. How is that helping America in any way? How about getting to washington and working for the people instead of spouting you mouth off for political gain?

    Quotes from South Carolina:

    "You Lie"
"Poor people are like stray animals"
"My Argentine mistress is my soul mate"

This is the best they get in SC!

As an Obama voter and fierce Independant thinker I am continually amazed at this Right wing faux rage at Obama. Where was this concern over the previous administrations war of choice in Iraq, unfunded Prescription drug reform, Katrina et.al. Bush ran huge deficits for 7 of 8 years!!! Cheney said that deficits didnt matter!!!
In no way am I suggesting that Obama is perfect, no human is. These times demand that reasonable people step back and look at the overview of the landscape that Obama confronted a year ago. Is the American memory really that short???

I would be less concerned with Mr. Wilson motives had it not been his rude remarks to or about the President that have propelled him into the spot light, and his 3 million dollars worth of eaqually rude Americans..... who somehow think what he did was a good thing, or showed some intelgence. It didn't! What it showed was a ill manner adult. How the people of South Carolina can possible think he will be of any help to them and their cause is beyond me. He burned one large bridge.....
