(CNN) - Joe Biden is adamant his son's decision against a bid for the Delaware Senate seat held by the vice president for nearly four decades had nothing to do with the current political climate.
"He would have been a strong candidate. But honest to God, that's not the reason he didn't run," Biden said on NBC's The Today Show when asked if the Democratic Party's misfortune in a string of recent elections led to his son Beau's decision.
"He didn't run because he has one of the largest pedophile cases I suspect at least in the history of the state of Delaware," Biden also said of his son who currently serves as Delaware's attorney general. "He realizes…his responsibility is to do his job as attorney general. "
The younger Biden announced his decision earlier this week in what was a blow to the Democratic Party which now finds itself without a strong candidate to challenge the likely Republican nominee, Rep. Mike Castle, the former 2-term governor of Delaware.
"I cannot and will not run for the United States Senate in 2010," Beau Biden said in an e-mail to supporters Monday. "I will run for re-election as Attorney General."
Biden's seat is currently held by Ted Kaufman, who was named as an interim replacement for Joe Biden when he stepped down from the Senate after his election in November 2008 as vice president. Kaufman has also said he will not run for the seat.

When Rahm pushed Dean out as chair of the DNC he has royally screwed the replacement candidates. If Dean were chair we would already have viable candidates in place. Kaine might be a good man but he is the worst person to chair this committee than if Rahm had handed it over to a republican.

Apparently, Beau Biden is deciding that he can do the most good in DE rather than in the US Senate. He might not want to run against Castle who is the most likely Republican running for the Senate seat.
The choice is Biden's son alone and obviously he's his own man which says a lot about his character. There are already too many politicians children who have a sense of entitlement resulting in lazy do nothing politicians and failure, look back a GWB. If Biden's son ever runs, it will be on his own timing and ahievements, I respect him for that.
The Senate race for Biden jr was a Lose/Lose situation. He was evidently smart enough to read which way the wind was blowing – must come from his mother's side.
If he ran for the Senate, he'd have lost. And then would have been a jerk for abandoning his AG job. Lose/Lose – simple as that.
He knew he had no chance of winning because democrats will lose nationwide this year, we've had enough!

Any liberal social leaning Democrat running for office this year and in 2012 is a dead duck. After the last three recent run off elections in which the Democrat went down in flames, I'd be surprise to see any incumbents asking for obama's help.
Another "myth" that "gethealthreformright.org" attempts to dispel is that employer-sponsored health plans don't allow workers to choose their own doctors. They claim that 80% of company plans allow employees to choose their own doctors and "•Only 20 percent are enrolled in HMOs and must use doctors within the HMO."
False! Our organization has tried PPO's, POS, High Deductible and Traditional plans that this group claims all allow employees to choose their own doctors. Well, sure, we can choose among the list of doctors they accept. If our doctor is not on their list, we must "choose" one of their doctors. I'd say that's 100% of the insurance plans we've had at my company. Right now, we must drive 25 miles to the nearest dermatologist on the list.

What's it like living in a state where a former governor can legally run for another office? I'm used to them (Republican and Democrat) ending up either in prison or at the least, disgraced.

His son is no dummy, he knows it is going to be a bloodbath for the dems in November because of Obama's back door deals and shady Chicago politics he has been using to get a health care bill passed that has only 30% support among likely voters. Obama had a chance to do something great for the american people, and he decided to try and force everyone to pay for african americans free health care.

Could we leave Beau and VP Biden alone. All kinds of people don't want to run for office in the US these days. Who can blame them. The past year has been ridiculous...
