(CNN) - He hasn't been sworn into office yet, but Massachusetts Sen.-elect Scott Brown is confident he already has the president beat in at least one respect: basketball.
The former state senate Republican, who shocked the political world with his upset victory last week that effectively ended the Democratic Party's 60-seat filibuster-proof hold in the U.S. Senate, told NBC's Jay Leno he also has the game to hand the president a defeat on the court.
Brown, an avid athlete who also said he swims and bikes several miles a week, told Leno he's already issued the challenge to Obama.
"It would certainly be a tough game," Brown said of the potential match up. "The only time I spoke to him was election night. And I did challenge him to pick his best."
Brown meanwhile said he would employ the skills of his 21 year-old daughter Ayla, who plays for the Boston College basketball team.
"I think we'd have the upper hand," said Brown, who himself played basketball in college.
Brown also discussed his now-famous appearance in Cosmopolitan Magazine when he was a 22 year-old law student at Boston College. In its June 1982 issue, the magazine named Brown "America's sexiest man" and featured a photo-spread in which the future senator nearly bares all.
Asked if he'd ever do it again, Brown replied, "Almost 30 years later I'd probably have to do it for [the] mature senior AARP Magazine. So a little different now."

It's a sad state in America that by throwing
his daughter's name out there this guy
has probably unleased an evil in our media
to investigate, pry, and ultimately make this
innocent girl's life hell. The talk show people
will likely go right to work on this Republican
and his kids.
The great american attitude: If I can out think you, can't work with you, I"ll beat you up.
Let's see, a real college athlete against a media created athlete until they realized he was a bench warmer for this high school basketball team. Looks like my money is on Brown.
And again, if a woman posed for Playboy, she'd better not look for any kind of job, let alone a position in government, because she'd never be taken seriously. We have enough problem taking Palin seriously because she was almost Miss Alaska (among other reasons, of course.) Brown is lucky he is male and a good talker. Whether he will be an effective legislator remains to be proven by him. Time will tell. And who cares whether he can beat the President on the basketball court anyway?
This guy is really full of himself. He dosen't sound like a serious man at all. Did he think he was elected to go to Washington to play basketball? He has mentioned it so many times I wonder if he realizes that he's going to congress and not the Wizards who incidently have a few openings.
Gee, do ya think an EGO can get much bigger. FYI for Scott Brown, in the sceme of things, you beating Obama at B-ball is not even on our radar; shows how un-intuned you are with the people of Massachusetts.
It is so tacky to invite yourself anywhere. The president should not only keep him out of the White House to play basketball, but make him wait in line like every other US citizen. He should take the White House tour and stop harrassing President Obama.
Kudos Brown. It's nice to see a Republican with the hint of personality.
Let hope Mr Brown, can remain one of us a Regular American with very little to avaerage means, And represent the people not the money that will be thrown at him from big business and special interest. (thanks SCOTUS). Hopefully he can also bring back the real meaning for all americans Country 1st not party or re-election 1st.
No matter what one thinks of Brown's victory in Mass., it is refreshing to hear from a politician who doesn't seem to take himself too seriously! I would very much like him to be his own man as a Senator, though...
Hey Rethuglicans – "And this fixes our economy how"?
He's not even in office yet and he wants to play basketball and exploit his daughters.
Thanks Mass. for electing someone who has the country's best interest at heart!
You won one senate race because the people got PO's at the Deomcrats for rushing the health bill Brown, you're not Superman just yet, so cool off your jets a little.
See how fast Republicans get a big head!!!
Yeah RIGHT! Dream on Mr. Centerfold. You'd be lucky to survive a game of H.O.R.S.E. with a junior high schooler. Our current POTUS can probably "think" you off the court without taking a single shot.
In order to Circumvent filibusters, why not utilize the strategy from the Cheney/Bush Administration. They used the 50-vote budget reconciliation process to end filibusters and managed to ram tax cuts, oil drilling, trade authority, and more down the Democrats throats through reconciliation.
I understand the Byrd rule could present a problem with the reconciliation process; however, this process would at least short-circuit the Republican filibusters.
im in with scott brown, when do we start
