New York (CNNMoney.com) –They're not calling it Stimulus 2, but the Obama administration wants to extend the life of several Recovery Act provisions by building them into the federal budget.
The president's $3.8 trillion budget for fiscal 2011, unveiled Monday, calls for giving states more money for Medicaid and infrastructure projects, as well as renewing tax breaks for workers, small businesses and municipalities issuing bonds. It also requests additional funding for Obama's educational reform initiative, Race to the Top.
All these were key provisions in the $862 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, a massive two-year stimulus program enacted last February. Many of its measures are set to run out this year.
But none of Obama's budget measures will take effect unless Congress incorporates them into legislation. And, at the moment, "stimulus" is not the most popular word on Capitol Hill.

Why is CNN calling this a secret? The president said he wanted to invest more in infrastructure, small businesses, education, and tax breaks for workers in his State of the Union Address. What a stupid heading.
There is a lot more than stimulus 2 in the 2011 budget. One way or another Obama is sneeking in his agends under the heading of Budget Bill. Didn't Pelosi tell us one way or another the democrats will get what they wnat done .
I guess it was a secret from CNN... they apparently have been too busy reporting old news to pay attention to information like the State of the Union Message.
Please understand, I think Haiti is a terrible tragedy, but there are still other things going on in the world, and we have plenty of celebs to carry the torch down there.

The first stimulus was suppose to be 787 billion. It has already grown to 862 billion. How much will this really cost? They haven't spent the first one yet. I wonder how accurate the CBO score was on the healthcare bill considering how far off they were on the first stimulus?
Obamas new budget also takes into account cap and trade passing and healthcare reform passing. Is anyone going to be honest with us?

Just goes to show these were never special job stimulus programs. These are just pet projects rammed through because of the emergency. Rahm Emmanuel says "Never waste a good emergency." Just another way of growing big government and paying off the unions for campaign donations.

Spend; spend; tax and more tax that's all the democrats and King Obama know how to do. This country will fall if this out of controll spending isn't stopped and stopped now. This is not Bush's fault it's Obama's fault. By the way I was against the spending that Bush did also but his was nothing compared to Obama.
This is no surprise to me, afterall i thought a good portion of the stimulus money was not even spent yet so why is it being call a secret.People saying the stimulus is not working com;on after all the money that was put into it something got to work sooner or later!
Thank goodness for President Obama's transparent, bi-partisian approach where there are no hidden agenda items like there were in the Bush era. And, after he spends all this borrowed money, he'll have Pelosi and Reed enact a spending freeze to pay down .01% of the deficit. What a leader! (or is that "Loser"?)

"Stimulus" may not be a popular word, but its a good program which included TAX CUTS for working families. People who complain about the stimulus have no idea what they are talking about: they probably don't even know they got a tax cut from it!

CUT taxes across the board Raise taxes for US corporations that manufacture goods overseas ( As cheap wages put US based manufacturers at a competitive disadvantage) And get the government out of the way! We would be out of this recession in a year.

So how is this secret? And what penny pinching is it to cut waste, even if it is mere millions? This inflamatory reporting isn't necessary. And a lot of people seem to forget wee elected this president with a majority (unlike the previous president who was appointed) and the whole point of a democracy is that the majority is supposed to rule...
So the budget in another post cuts space exploration, SO WHAT, GOOD, GREAT, i DON'T THINK ANYONE IS HURTING FOR A JOB OR TRYING TO SAVE THEIR HOME UP THERE!
Spend, spend and spend some more. This 3.8 trillion budget is an increase of 300 billion from Obama's last budget which was about a 300 billion increase over Bush's last budget. So Obama has increased budget spending by about 600 billion since he took office. Then throw in the stimulus, auto bailouts and more. And he wants us to believe the deficits are all Bush's fault.
This new Obama 3.8 trillion budget comes will produce a 1.56 trillion deficit in 2010 and projects at this level of spending a 1.3 trillion deficit in 2011, the same amount he claims to have inherited from Bush.
But in todays speech to introduce his new budget, Obama braged about all the deficit reduction measures were in it.
2009 = 1.3 trillion deficit
2010 = 1.56 trillion deficit
2011 = 1.3 trillion deficit.
Where the deficit reductions? And it's all Bush's fault.
News flash Obama, even if we believe it is Bush's fault he is no longer in office. Bush can no longer fix it or make it worse. Only Obama can fix it and it is clear he is either not willing or able to fix it.
