Washington (CNN) - Sarah Palin's political action committee doled out tens of thousands of dollars last year to Republican consulting firms and donations to GOP candidates, according to the PAC's end-of-year filing with the Federal Election Commission.
But Sarah PAC also paid one Democrat $14,000 for what the FEC report terms "Consulting, Communication, Speech."
That Democrat was Eric Schnure, a former speechwriter for Al Gore, who was hired by Palin to craft her humorous speech to the Gridiron Dinner in Washington last December.
Schnure, a speechwriting veteran who recently signed on with the communications consulting firm Dewey Square Group, calls himself a "proud Democrat." But Schnure said he had no problem helping a Republican – even one as polarizing as Palin – with a speech designed to make people laugh.
"I think humor is one of the last bastions of bipartisanship," Schnure told CNN. "She elicits strong opinions on both sides of the aisle, but I think most people in Washington are savvy about these things. And they understand these humor events have a special place."
Still, Schnure said he has received a fair amount of ribbing from fellow Democrats – including his wife – for lending a hand to Palin.

Even conservatives - at least the intellectually honest ones - are seeing the end of the political Palin and the beginnings of the entertainment Palin, cashing in as a commentator/demagogue while her 15 minutes lasts. She's about as sharp as a bowling ball, but is still smart enough to know she doesn't have a prayer of landing any kind of support beyond the white male rednecks that make up the core of the Teabaggers. So why not grab her piece of the Beck/Coulter/Limbaugh/Ingraham pie - easier than having to answer all those big hard questions about the newspapers she reads and her favorite founding father and pays better too!

Mrs Palin is funny in a bizarre way without a ghostwriter. She could have saved $14K, and still had them rolling in the aisles, by reading the gop platform (or the purity pledge).

This article is more proof that they are all just actors on stage,(Dems and Rep). Our government bipartisian(sp) battle is just a cover. They all work together behind closed doors. We are just too blind to see it. There is something bigger than what we think is going on. The feud is a cover to keep us divided. Think about it, Religion, Politics, Race are the biggest things that divide us. Two out of the three can be easily manipulated to control the masses(us). So if you want a diversion, say or do something with Religion or Politics and bam, mission accomplished.
I'm not a big Palin fan but I really love how much she gets under the progressives skin. Hate isn't even a strong enough word. And all directed at a decent woman who has led a relatively clean life. I'm sure many of these haters voted for John Edwards too.

Money down the drain because she wasn't a good speaker before she came on to this political stage and after 12 months she still isn't a good speaker. When you get "Joe Biden" mixed up with "Joe O'Biden" there isn't much that can be done, she is just like a broken record that someone thinks they can fix with scotch tape.

They have a couple stock shots of her; CNN seems to chose this one when they want to make her look "thoughtful" ... she just seems to be staring blankly into the distance to me ...
