Brown demands certification 'immediately'

(CNN) – Massachusetts Sen.-elect Scott Brown is asking state officials to immediately certify his victory in the state's special election last month, a move that would allow Brown to be sworn into office as early as Thursday afternoon.

In a letter to Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick and Massachusetts Secretary of State William Galvin, both Democrats, Brown's attorney says the senator-elect had planned on being sworn in February 11 but has since been told there are several votes being held before that date.

"For this reason, he wants certification to occur immediately," wrote Daniel Winslow, Brown's attorney.

Eric Fehrnstrom, a spokesman for Brown, also told CNN that "since the election results are now complete, there's no reason to wait."

A Brown adviser said the senator-elect is specifically interested in upcoming votes on President Obama's nominees for the GSA administrator, solicitor-general, and the National Labor Relations Board.

A spokeswoman for Patrick said the governor will certify the result at 9:30 a.m. ET Thursday.

"As the Lieutenant Governor stated earlier today, the Governor will convene the Governor’s Council at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow morning and certify the results," said Deputy Press Secretary Kimberly Haberlin. "This will ensure that Senator-elect Brown’s request to receive the final paperwork by 11:00 a.m. tomorrow is fulfilled."

Don't you just love the word "DEMANDS"?Why do I have the feeling that this "centerfold" is going to do a lot of demanding and the first thing you know, we'll have another Sarah P in the picture. This man was asked if he had running for president in mind and the2012 date was mentioned. I'd like to point out that several commenters have said that President Obama was short on experience when he was elected. Well, this guy will have had a lot less if he runs.

Is it just me, or does anyone else notice that John Daily and "The Daily Show" is the only program that really counters these right-wing talks shows and lies. And He does it so well, he should work for CNN or the White House.

When Teddy Kennedy won a special election to the senate in 1962 it took 2 days to certify him. It's now over 2 weeks for Scott Brown. This is a disgrace.

Already making waves. The Democrats have already said they would seat him as soon as possible. Not much to talk about; other than trying to score points early on.

How about, in the interest of law, you wait your turn?

Or should we subject you to the same bipartisan cooperation Sen. Al Franken enjoyed when he had to wait almost six months in order to take his place as rightful senator from Minnesota?

Oh, and by the way, by the rules of the Senate, you will be the LAST person to speak on any subject matter, or debate.

Man, just certify the guy already! I am a fairly staunch Democrat (Albeit a moderate) and I think the Dem Party needs to just get this behind them and accept the results of their inaction. If nothing else, this should serve as a wake-up call that just because a district has voted a particular way for decades it doesn't mean they won't go the other way if they feel the need. The Democratic party has had the most inept 60-40 majority in the history of the Senate, in large part because in an effort to be inclusive they have allowed hacks like Joe Lieberman to do whatever they wanted and not pulled his chairmanships. I hope that now that there is no illusion of a super-majority, they will take the steps against Joe Lieberman and the other party members who went so far as to campaign for the opposition that are necessary. it's time.

After most elections in November, you have to wait 8 weeks to be sworn in. Saw the Barbara Walters interview where you said the tea baggers did not play that big of role in your election. After all those fundraisers they had for you and your using them to knock on doors for you, you turn your back on them. I can only say, "Heckuva job Brownie!"

Since the governor and legislature in Ma. did so much manuvering and even changed the rules that they had instituted in the past to make sure to get Kennedy's democratic temporary replacement to the senate in record time,it is only right that they do the same for Brown
