Washington (CNN) – After Scott Brown gets sworn in Thursday afternoon, he won't just be taking Ted Kennedy's Senate seat, he will also be taking over his plush office space in the Senate Russell building.
Several Senate sources tell CNN that the Senate Rules Committee, which assigns office space, decided to give Brown Kennedy's old digs as a matter of convenience.
An aide to Senate Rules Chairman Chuck Schumer says because Brown is coming in "midstream" it would be too hard to start moving Senators around.
Senator Paul Kirk, D-Massachusetts, also moved into Kennedy's office for the same reason.
Brown aides and other Senate sources say Brown will have temporary offices for a few days to allow Kirk and his staff to move out.
Because of his seniority, Kennedy had one of the most coveted office suites in the Senate complex. It is located in the Russell building, down the hall from the Rotunda, and has balconies that overlook the Capitol.
OOOOOOOOH CNN – what a big deal !! That must mean he's also getting half of Kennedy's estate and all the experience in Congress - NOT
Not to worry he'll only need it until 2012 when a Dem retakes the seat.
Senator Brown may have no seniority, but there are very few Senators in Congress who essentially represents so many people in all 50 states as much as he does.
Brown to take the "Peoples office"
Dems..and their extreme left wing agenda..are done. Guess that "hope and change" thing just didn't work out
Ted Kennedy will be rolling over in his grave. The Democrats blew that deal and the will blow the mid terms. Obama as good as he is and was going to bring change maybe right. Change will begin with him out as a one term President. Reid and Pelosi are just plain useless.
Brown is worthy of this fine office!! He's gone a long way to saving the country from Redi, Pelosi and Obama! If there is a better office, he should get it after the November election and the removal of the Democrats from power.
That is... THE PEOPLE'S OFFICE!!!!!!!
Get it fumigated to get rid of all the liberal koodies
Keep calling it "Kennedy's seat" and "Kennedy's office." Keep showing us that you don't know it's the people's seat, and the people's office.
Kerry in the shadows of Ted "the swimmer" for years and now in the shadow of the junior Senator, LOVE IT.
Behind the scenes he is whining and crying that he can't have Teddies office, don't worry Jawn, soon enough, you can have Reid's, Dodd's or any other "leading" Democrap that is one the "list".
Why the LONG face Jawn. oops, my bad...........
Liveshot, YOUR time is coming buddy.
Boy, is that going to fry some onions in the People's Republic of
Cambridge (hee, hee).
It is the people's office and seat, not Ted's, not the Kennedy's.
That's some might big shoes to fill. I hope he does well by the good people of Massachusetts.
May God help us all....Thanks Massachusetts!! NOT.
He won't be in that office for long. He'll face a real democratic candidate in 2012 who will beat him in a landslide victory.
Makes sense. He'll only be there for 2 years before he's sent back to political oblivion.
Scott wants to hurry up and fill his money bags.
Things are changing, for the better. After a year of unfettered liberal progressive rule voters have seen enough. Conservatives look like the better choice when voters get a chance to see a clear contrast to progressives. Nation has always been center right. Conservatives are going to be returned to power and activated and motivated voters will not let them go astray as they did under Bush.
Get us going in the right direction Scott!
