Tebow attends Washington prayer breakfast

Tim Tebow attended the National Prayer Breakfast Thursday morning.

Washington (CNN) – College football's Tim Tebow, a Heisman trophy winner, attended the National Prayer Breakfast with President Barack Obama Thursday and delivered the closing prayer, continuing his foray into the political spotlight.

Tebow recently came under fire for appearing in an issues-oriented ad that will run during Sunday's Superbowl game. The ad will feature Tebow and his mother Pam recounting the decision to continue her pregnancy with Tim despite recommendations from doctors to do otherwise.

The prayer breakfast was organized by the group, Fellowship Foundation, which has been linked to a controversial anti-gay law in Uganda.

Introduced by Rep. Johnny Isakson, R-Georgia, Tebow joked, "It is rather incredible that a Georgia Bulldog invited a Florida Gator, so you can see the hand of God here."

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who also attended the event, spoke of her own preference of adoption over abortion and told the story of opening a home for the children of unwanted pregnancies after a visit from Mother Teresa.

Tebow is weird! What's with the eye makeup? Why can't he just live it and save the cheap advertising? Next he'll be hopping on the Tea Party bandwagon with all the other freaks.

OK, this may not belong on the ticker but he and his mother's story is heroic! How can anyone think badly of him, his mother, or the Super Bowl add?

The football players, the jokes, the politics. It all continues to trivialize religion. And that is good.

It's past time to move beyond 14th Century superstitions.

if this is only to go after the right of a woman to choose , then the people against the rights have forgotten what happened when women didn't have the right to choose an abortion , they still get one and they die from the back room secret abortion butchers . so get over it . women have the right to choose . and most of the people that protest against abortion rights are dumb ass men with nothing to do better than take womens rights of choice away . and some women are dumb enough to go along with it .. jerks :)

Tebow is NOT a "two-time Heisman trophy winner." Archie Griffin is the ONLY two time Heisman trophy winner.

Isn't it nice for Pam Tebow that she had the opportunity to make a choice. People like Pam and her son would like to remove that opportunity for everyone else.

Maybe Tebow could give the president a few lectures for a change.

Topics could be anything from credibility; honesty; forthright in one's beliefs as a man and other topics Obama is seriously lacking in as a person.

Then, Tebow could explain to Obama how our rights were given to us by a creator and not by a judicial appointment, legislator, or even an executive.

Tebow's mother made a couragious decision, but she needs to stop using her son as a stage prop ala Sarah Palin. The "pro life" crowd also needs to change their name as they consistently support capital punishment, elective wars, and guns for everyone. Thou shalt not kill . . . except by lethal injection?

Two-time Heisman trophy winner? You might want to perform a simple Google search to check your facts for a change!

Give me a break CNN. I would hope that you have better fact checkers on staff and better reporting than to just take a PR release word for word. Tim Tebow is NOT a two-time Heisman winner. Already the misinformation about this guy is quickly turning him into a saint before our very eyes. And really, why is this national news worthy? Prayer breakfasts are held all over the country every day by.

Why is it the republicans question every single thing the democrats say and try to say "you lie"....but here we have a guy whose mother told him, told him mind you, she decided not to have an abortion when she was ill.

Now we all know that's a lie. When she lived in the Phillipines all those years ago, it was against the law. It was illegal. It was a no no, even in cases of incest and RAPE. And yet the republicans are spreading this around like it was the truth. SHE DECIDED NOT TO HAVE AN ABORTION? HEY TELL IT LIKE IT IS TEBOW SHE COULDN'T HAVE AN ABORTION EVEN THO IT MIGHT THREATEN HER LIFE. IT WAS ILLEGAL AND A NO NO...

But don't let that stop you...we know republicans never tell the truth they just manufacture a line and then embelish on it and it takes wings and is accepted like the gospel truth...SHOULD SOMEONE STAND UP IN THE STANDS AT THE SUPER BOWL WHEN TEBOW TAKES THE FIELD AND SAY..................YOU LIE............................

    Hello CNN,
I know the national media has all but deified Tim Tebow but the fact remains that Tim Tebow has only won one Heisman trophy not two. The fact is not hard to verify.

Tebow is not a 2 time heisman trophy winner. He only won it once in 2007. This article needs to be corrected.

Sorry. I don't see the hand of God here. In fact, this has nothing to do with God. If Pam Tebow didn't want to have an abortion, that's her business. If other women want abortions, that's their business. This has nothing to do with religion or God. My advice--Boycott all Super Bowl Commercials. Watch the game if you want. Personally, I could care less about the Super Bowl. It's just another football game.

SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE! When will we get religion out of politics. America is as bad as the Middle East when it comes to extreme religious zealots influencing or controlling government decisions that should be secular. When I see this, I'm sure America's founding ideals are falling by the way side.

  24. Randolph Carter, I'm no expert but...

I'm not really sure who this Jesus guy was, but judging from the actions of his high-profile followers, it seems like he taught: you should make lots of money no matter what the cost and hate those who are different than you. Have a nice day!

Iran has a religious government. Good for them.
