New DNC ad claims Republicans 'at it again.'

A new DNC ad slams Republicans for Wall Street ties.
A new DNC ad slams Republicans for Wall Street ties.

(CNN)– The Democratic National Committee launched a television ad Friday accusing Republicans of appealing to Wall Street for campaign money in exchange for stopping proposed financial regulation from being passed.

"They're at it again, promising Wall Street 'we'll have your back'," says the narrator in the 30 second spot, citing a Wall Street Journal article published Thursday.

The ad, which cites Republican fiscal policies as a major cause of the economic recession, features a picture of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, RNC Chairman Michael Steele and House Minority Leader John Boehner with the slogan "the era of putting Wall Street over Main Street is over."

It will air on national cable.

The DNC needs to purge their own ranks too of sell-outs. They keep talking about being anti-lobbyist and trying to align with Main Street. Yet Landrieu, Nelson, Bayh, Lincoln and Baucus are more concerned about lining their pockets with campaign $ and scoring points vs doing the right thing for ALL Amercians. Not just cutting back-room deals for Louisiana or Nebraska for free Medicare.

I think it is about time the Dems became alot more agressive in attacking the GOP..There is no way, with the majority the Dems have that they should ever be on the defense..Also the Dems should get in line and work toward compromise between themselves in order to move Pres Obama's agenda, and stop fighting..Healthcare should have been passed last year when they had 60 votes, so lest not blow the chance this time thru reconcilliation or by any means necessary..Dems should not lose site of why they were given the majority by the Amercian People and lets get the job done swiftly..Also we can only hope for bi-partisianship, but lets ne realistic..It is not going to happen and move on..I can tell the Amercian people could care less about bi-partisianship at this time..They are hurting, and only want to see real action and results..Who cares about bi-partianship at this point..

These two parties the Democrats and the Republicans have a monopoly on our government. I sure both sides will love bashing each other over these petty issues in order to distract you from their true self of representing a Plutocracy. But the truth is there is no difference if you vote Democrat or Republican Liberal or Conservative. We will get the same we have always received from big brother, the people who can attract the billions required to be elected are not getting that money from the people. Both of these parties are bought and paid for by the Special interest groups, PACs, Unions, Wall Street, banking, global Corporations are all contributing billions to re-election funds that undermine the people's representation
I say in 2010 ask who is funding your representative? Look to see where the money is coming from? If the money comes from outside your voter district then who do you think they will represent if they are elected or re-elected? We need to bring these professional politicians back into line.
Vote them out, if they are in office vote them out this fall no matter what party they belong to and in the next election and every election going forward until they become the servants of the people once more.

"At it again"? When was the Republican Party never all about protecting the rich person and expecting the middle class and other working people just to suck it up. Republicans, generally, have never cared about anything other than the wealthy. Evidence, Bush tax cut which cut taxes mostly for the wealthy, Bush policies that protected Wall Street and to Hell with Main Street, the current effort to make sure that average people remain the subjects of the insurance industry. Our Republican members of the Congress are all bought and paid for by wealthy donors. Why are we surprised. "At it again," no, they never stopped socking it to working Americans.

What a bunch of bunk. Recessions are a part of the economic cycle and if the nation has the misfortune of having Obama President for a second term, there is sure to be another recession before he leaves office. All government can do regarding a recession is tweak it at the edges to try and reduce it's severity and duration.
As for Wall Street, Obama and the Democrats want Wall Street to fail and be torn down. That would take us all down with them. America will not surrive without a strong Wall Street, nor will it without a strong Main Streeet. A smart common sense goal would be for both Wall Street and Main Street to be successfull. Wall Street is not an enemy to America. An enemy to Wall Street would be an enemy of America.

When Obama said "yes we can" he also talked about the uphill battle against the opposition, and how wall street cronies would be jumping behind the Republicans. We knew this wouldn't be easy. I hope that who stood behind Mr. Obama in the election continue to stand behind him through tough times instead of becoming a "fair weather friend."

I believe that the group we know as "Wall St" owns the Republican Party.

Still no credit, high APR's, increasing fees to bolster the bottom lines as unemployment increases and folks struggle to survive. It is as plain as day for those who look at the actions rather than the rhetoric. Mostly All Liars who have been too long at enriching themselves at our collective expense. All you have to do is look at the stock market drop since Scott Brown was put in office. Americans know that with this Tea Party person in office with the republicans, financial reform will never happen now. There is no point in continuing to hope for improvement in the financial sector so why bother. Better to pull all of your money out and save yourself. republicans care only about big business and tea party people don't understand.

America's Conservative leadership is completely corrupt. They are selling their services to big donors.

From their own point of view, though, the nation is divided into winners and losers The upper class are the winners. The middle class are the losers. The lower class is beneath their notice. To the Conservative mind, winners deserve anything they want. Losers deserve whatever they get.

Any body notice that the government released two employment numbers today that wildly contradict each other?
On was the jobs numbers report that 20,000 jobs were lost in January. It is based on a survey of 370,000 employers.
The other was the unemployment rate which went down from 10% to 9.7% and is based on a survey of 110,000 homes. The results of the survey projected 541,000 new jobs in January.
At least one of these reports is way of base, both can not be accurate.
And to top it off the government also released numbers that say 8.4 million jobs were lost during the recession, up from a previous estimate of 7.2 million.
Anyone know which, if any of these numbers are credible?
And how about Obama's promise that if the stimulus was passed unempolyment would not go beyond 8%, that did not happen, even if the new number of 9.7% is accurate, the stimulus has long past failed to deliver on Obama's promise.
So how about Obama's claims on how many jobs have been created or saved? Anyone think those numbers are credible?
Which numbers comming from the White House are accurate and which are not? It is clear at least some are way off base.

These Republican global corporate Loyalist are obstructing America from moving forward. They have different plans for American workers as demonstrated by the corporate loyalist on the Supreme Court who have acted under color of authority (black robes) aiding global corporations to impact our lawmaking and elections with this unlimited cash bribery.

Republicans want America to continue down the old deregulated (i.e., lawless) Reagan Trail of 1890’s “Horse-and-sparrow economics” promising if we feed a horse enough oats some are bound to pass through to the high-end and trickle-down onto the trail for the sparrows, as they ignore how it all got lost in the Bushes; the George Bushes. We just traveled down that wilderness path and look were it got us. Bushwhacked!, and yet Republican global corporate loyalist still argue that if we remove the remaining laws regulating global banks and global corporations they will use all that money they take and create jobs with it. What they don’t tell you is that the jobs these global corporations offer are building high speed rail systems and the worlds tallest buildings everyplace in the world but here and that the workers overseas have universal health care.

I am sure the DNC ad will also point out that employees and PACs associated with Goldman Sachs contributed $994,795 to Obama's 2008 election campaign while only giving the McCain campaign $230,095. Tax cuts don't create jobs, they create bubbles. Real economic growth comes from investment in infrastructure - physical, human and informational - which is mainly done by government because the capitalists can't seem to find a way to turn an acceptably large, acceptably quick profit on it. Unfetter the capitalists and they quickly run the whole darn economy into the ground (see: the last thirty years).

I think we've had enough of that GOP small government / tax cut / no regulation nonsense for a while.

For eleven months the Repubs and their massive political machine have been not only the "Party of NO" but have done and said everything possible to block the work of the Congress and the government.

In spite of all the negative actions, the policies of the Demos have started to turn this country around..unemployment continues to drop and the US economy grew at a record pace in the last quarter of 2009.

With the news of today we see that unemployment numbers continue to decrease when the Repubs were hoping they would increase...and what are the Repubs response..MORE NEGATIVE ADS.

However, todays news brings us even more serious actions by two Neo Con Repub Senators, Sens. Richard Shelby and Jeff Sessions. They have taken the action of putting holdings on presidental appointments so they can attempt to black mail the administration into awarding military contracts to a foreign company. The Senators have have a personal interest in seeing the the foreign company receive the contracts rather than a US MANUFACTURER . This is nothing but ...BLACKMAIL

This act shows exactly what their number one objective is...TO GET RE ELECTED...they don't care about anything other than that..Which is what the Republican party has been all about..since Jan.20, 2009.

Perhaps some have forgotten that while Repub party it had the majority in Congress and White House, it's policies screwed up the strongest economy in the world and rushed us into two of the longest wars this country has ever faced...Net Result...a finanical crash that has affected every American family and one totally unecessary war which has hurt tens of thousands of American families.

And their response remains the same...NO...NO...NO...

Good. Everyone who votes should know just what the Republicans have done to this country for way too long.

If people are unset with how things are going then they need look no further then the fear/hate/obstructionism/purity ideology of the Republicans.

If you want real change to take place with the Republicans acting as they are then vote for either a true Democrat or an Independent in 2010/2012. Do not as the voters of MA. did and reward the Republicans with their hate/fear/obstructionism/purist actions.

With the "liberal media" bias, good luck gettng this to see the light of day. Now if you want to spout your opinion about abortion, I hear they are still looking for spots to fill the SuperBowl time slots. Wake up, the media is owned by 5-6 major multinational conglomerations who dictate what they can and can't say. Look at it this way, Fox "News" Channel is carried on basic cable pretty much everywhere (MSNBC, who is as biased as Fox is not), Rush Limbaugh likewise is also across the radio dial in every state... I am a liberal and there is no liberal media (unless you go looking for it, I stream progressive radio on my computer, there is no progressive radio programming in central Ohio). Why are people afraid of "big government", but they will hand over their rights to transnational conglomerates? Listen to both sides of every story, and make your own decisions. Demand the truth, regardless of whose politics it favors, Americans have always decided matters for themselves. Why are we allowing ourselves to be led like a pack of frightened sheep?

It's a good add, it shows two out the top three senators we need to make a concerted effort to inform the public about. All three are up to their chins with special intrest groups, carry the GOP montra to a whole new level, and fail to represent their constituents over their prefered lobbyist.
The senator missing from this article is Senator Grassley, the GOP stooge that held the health reform comittee up for a long time adding in all the big pharma and big insurance perks (then voted against the bill anyway).

All you will hear is that the Republicans are to blame; and their Liberal base will bleat this to the four winds as loudly as they can. In an attempt to get Republican law makers to vote for Liberal measures, which the majortiy of constituents who voted them into office oppose, they are labled "obstructionists" and designated the "Party of No".

This is true it was in the Wallstreet Journal on Feb 4, 2010 page A6.

It's shameful because the GOP tells America they are made at Wallstreet yet they court them and tell them per the paper that they and i quote

"At dinner, John Boehner said congressional Republicans had stood up to Mr. Obama's efforts to CURB PAY and IMPOSe NEW REGULATIONS. The Republican leader also said that he was dissapointed many on Wallstreet continue to donate their money to Democrats."

    also quoted

"In discussions with Wallstreet Executives, Republicans are striving to make the case that they are BANKS 'BEST HOPE OF PREVENTING PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA AND CONGRESSIONAL DEMOCRATS FROM CRACKING DOWN ON WALL STREET"

The article also says the follwoing about ERIC CANTOR

"I sense a lot of dissafaction and a lot of buyer's remorse on Wall Street, said Rep. Eric Cantor (R., Va) the second ranking house member

CNN can we have coverage on this appears that the DEFICIT is not of great concern to the Republicans as we are being told by them on every chance they get to run to the cameras

Too bad the Democrats didn't go back far enough to show how much Clinton's actions contributd to thje current financial meltdown, especially in the area of the housing market.
The current mortgage crisis came about in large part because of Clinton-era government pressure on lenders to make risky loans in order to “make homeownership more affordable for lower-income Americans and those with a poor credit history,” the DC Examiner notes today. “Those steps encouraged riskier mortgage lending by minimizing the role of credit histories in lending decisions, loosening required debt-to-equity ratios to allow borrowers to make small or even no down payments at all, and encouraging lenders the use of floating or adjustable interest-rate mortgages, including those with low ‘teasers.’”

Also the changes in tax structures by Clinton made it profitable to make a business out of buying and selling houses.

"...Republican fiscal policies as a major cause of the economic recession..."

    The Democrats lie!

The bubble that burst was caused by Democrat-led legislation and liberal arm-twisting, including:

    1) The Community Reinvestment Act passed under Carter and ramped up under Clinton - owning a home is expensive, and if a person can't afford it, they never should have been politicized into buying one.

    2) Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac - Barney Frank's pet projects, which are now basically insolvent but being propped up by the Feds. What a nincompoop!

Republicans are the party of Wall Street. A little known fact about Republicans is they love to balloon deficits and drastically increase the size of government. They took the US under Ronald Reagan from being the largest creditor nation to the number one debtor nation. Republicans also love to de-regulate the financial industry, so we can have boom and bust cycles. Another thing about the GOP is they are lousy on national security-9/11 occurred on their watch, they started an unnecessary and unfunded war in Iraq, and missed bin Laden at Tora Bora. Personally, I cannot see why any lobbyist would want to give a penny to the GOP, much less vote for them.

"2. The major cause of the recession were subprime mortgages pushed by Democrats that ruined the financial markets. Sorry, DNC."

Not really. See, if those subprime mortgages simply failed, there would have been a bunch of foreclosures and that would have been the end of it. Bank gets the property, homeowner gets ousted.

What really happened is that "Wall Street" took those subprime mortgages, bundled them with regular mortgages to create securities, paid the securities ratings companies to rate them as less risky than they really were, bought insurance from places like AIG against the possibility of the securities failing, then engaged in credit-default swaps in order to create hollographic profits on paper thru a good old fashioned game of hot potato. When those subprime mortgages bottomed-out and failed because of their well-hidden ballooning payment structures, financial institutions left holding them went to insurers like AIG, who had improperly underwritten the securities based on their improper risk ratings, and demanded their insurance money...so guess what? AIG went bottom-up and so did the institutions left with the hot potatoes. If you don't recognize and understand that the above is Exhibit A in the case against Wall Street and deregulatory policy, then you're just vomitting partisan talking points and understand none of it.

If you think Republicans wake up in morning and honestly want to help the country and people like you and me – then you need your head examined. Oh wait, you can't afford that under your current insurance thanks to them!

They decided the minute Obama was elected they would say NO to anything and everything no matter what it was. And they got paid extra for it by the industries that stand to lose the most – Banks and Insurance companies.

The GOP will never denounce lobbying or they would have NO cash whatsoever to support their lust for power.

They claim they want "less government" – well that translates into less regulation and that's how we get screwed everyday by the banks, insurance companies, and airlines among other giants, EVERY DAY.

If I'm going to pay my taxes – I expect my government and it's politicians to WORK. So don't tell me that you want me to pay you so you can produce LESS results – because I'm not cool with that and it's not something you should be proud of you lazy s.o.b.s

If they put half the effort they do into screaming about gay marriage like they did into FIXING THE BUDGET then maybe we'd see some results. But this party would rather tell tax-paying citizens what to do in their bedrooms behind closed doors before they'd accept responsibility for the potholes in the road and the overpriced costs to get something as simple as a tooth filling.

And they keep screaming about socialism – which is not where we're headed but if it were... um, every socialist country doesn't have half the problems we do and oddly, twice the freedoms as a result.

You will not find truth in the current admin. They have been in power for years. All during the Bush years, the dems had the house and senate. They strong armed the banks into giving people who could not afford a house a loan. At least some of you should see the truth somewhere. And it ain't comin' from the white house!
BTW please don't call me a racest, thats getting old too!!!
