President Obama to throw bipartisan Super Bowl party

President Obama will host a Super Bowl party this weekend at the White House.
President Obama will host a Super Bowl party this weekend at the White House.

(CNN) - President Obama will hold his second bipartisan Super Bowl party this weekend, his aides announced Friday morning.

It will be a much smaller affair than last year when more than 75 people gathered to watch the game at the White House theater. Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said about 40 people altogether are invited Sunday to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

White House aides say House and Senate lawmakers, both Democratic and Republican, representing competing states on behalf of the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts have been invited. So far those who've accepted the invitations include Indiana Democratic Reps. Andre Carson, Baron Hill, and Brad Ellsworth, and Louisiana Republican Rep. Joseph Cao. Military service members who've been injured fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan will also be guests, along with their spouses and children.

Gibbs says the White House will put out a more complete list of attendees later in the day.

Last year the president hosted fans of the Arizona Cardinals and Pittsburgh Steelers. Guests that year told CNN the president went walking from room to room serving them brownies and oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies. Also on last year's menu: hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, chips and salsa, soft pretzels, hot fudge ice cream and pizza.

Won't be able to watch the Super Bowl. Have to work to pay taxes so Obama can give money to the dope smoking, non working, non taxpayers. Notice the looney left uses this as an opportunity to attack the TEA party. Keep it up, please you infuriate more with every nasty thing you say.

He is being AMERICAN. Listen you haters...neither the government nor the President told "U-S" to borrow the hell out of our houses OR max out our credit cards. Folks, we did that on false economic hopes PRIOR to 2009....This guy is not saying NO to everything...be it right OR bewrong ...at least he is attempting SOMETHING to fix OUR mess. Enjoy Sunday Mr. President.

I'm sure who ever loses the SuperBowl. It will be the Presidents fault
while the Rethugs will take credit for the winner. I hope the TeaBaggers get the game on their yacht.

I agree, the racist comments are not HONKY Dory, (oh I think I misspelled that, maybe Dominican Momma can help me with it). Although, I must agree that professional athletes and our Federal employment practices are not racially equivalent based upon our demographic make up. Perhaps we should contact Mr. Conyers and the NAACP to look into it....

Felicia....Why do you feel it is racist when someone wants to see Obama fail? Do you consider it racist when someone wants to see Obama succeed? I don't want to see him fail, but that doesn't mean I like and support him. Doesn't mean I'm racist either, just means I don't like and support him. Don't make everything a racist issue. Everything was not a racist issue when Bush was slammed by so many. I think you may be racist by bringing up "racist" in this post.

That's about the only way the Repubs will say "yes" – when they can stuff food down their throat or cash into their pockets. Repubs are the worst low life parasitic do nothings to ever come out of Washington.

For the Obamaniacs, it's the predictable love fest over everything Obama does. If he picks his nose, it's the greatest pick ever. For the Obama detractors, he can do no right. If he found a cure for cancer, it'd be "what took so long"? Both sides are equally pathetic.

What CNN, no Palin story today? You're letting you're left wing cook readers down. Instead, a light hearted story about the messiah. Great reporting job from the chicken noodle network (CNN).

at kacie: what you fail to consider is. 'if' they all went home, let's say, and Apple Growers/Janitorial companies etc..will be forced to raise the pay scale to a level that is SHOULD be, thus, raising the standard of living for ALL Americans at the same time, brining into full view, what OUR (as a nation) worth is.

Meaning, we just might find we've actually been living quite economically insolated for a number of years....in effect, have to kick it up into high gear, as a nation. And yes, I WOULD pick Apples for a living, if it paid, what it should, as you DO understand Americans DID do those jobs BUT were under cut by a culture with a MUCH lower level standard of living and thus had NO problem taking lower wages.

As a compassionate human being, as I’m sure you consider yourself such, YOU ‘should’ be ashamed of yourself, letting another group of people live in sub standard conditions simply because they’ve never known any better. YOU ‘should’ want more for them and YOUR nation. Want it Expect it!

That's what Obama is good at – PARTYING! The loss of over 8 million jobs doesn't bother him at all. He has NO concern for working Americans; as long as he can party at the EXPENSE of the American people, everything is good with Obama. Whoever voted for this man to become President deserve to lose their job and more; you get what you deserve.

The hate mongers here are unbelievable. They flew Bush to his ranch every second weekend or off to Camp David. He spent two years on vacation but none of these haters seemed to care. If the haters worked for one week as hard as the Predident does in five minutes there wouldnt be a recession in this country.

I know what's happening here. Obama is mad because the media have already declared Peyton Manning the new messiah.

Listening to the media, I'm wondering why we're even bothering having a game at all, since the Colts seem to be the only ones playing.
