Help wanted: Obama's Twitterer (filibusterers need not apply)

Are you qualified to tweet for the president?

Are you qualified to tweet for the president?

(Fortune) - With unemployment weighing heavily on the economy, Barack Obama is stressing his ability to create jobs. He’s even got one available, posting Facebook updates and tweets on behalf of the President of the United States.

Organizing for America, an organization under the umbrella of the Democratic National Committee is looking for a “Social Networks Manager.” The ideal candidate is someone who can play Twitter, Facebook, and yes, even MySpace, like a violin, to “execute grassroots campaigns to advance the President’s agenda for change.” Let’s be very clear, while you will be Obama’s political mouthpiece on Twitter (@BarackObama) you aren’t the official White House voice, that’s a separate Twitter account (@whitehouse). Facebook, same story. Your job, should you get it, is to further the Administration’s political agenda, and in a few years get Obama re-elected.

The posting went up just in time for the Presidents’ Day weekend. And what better way to spend the executive branch-themed holiday, than outlining the benefits of overhauling the health care system with surgically crafted 140-character tweets, and Facebook updates that explain the strategy underpinning the war in Afghanistan?

Is this a joke? Would that not be illegal?

  2. If you want something ruined, put a republican in charge

I really think people are beginning to see through the smoke and mirrors of the GOP. As the majority of Americans wake up to the lies, fear and support of big business by the elected republicans, they will return to the party that looks out for them. Also, if you look at Palin's decline in popularity over the last 4 months, realize that the next 8 months can make a big difference. Just by showing the republicans who are taking credit for the stimulus projects that have been creating jobs in their districts after voting "No!" will highlight their hypocrisy.

  3. Why?

Obama already has ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN "twittering" for him daily - ad nauseum!

The need for Health Care Reform is critical for our country. Details, benefits need to get out there for the American people by any means possible, to counter attack the lies, fear mongering, sewer tactics of the republican party.
Americans need to realize the party of NOthing cares NOthing about us and our survival. Their goals to destroy our president, big business remaining in control, party first and win at any cost are as unAmerican, irresponsible, disgraceful as a political party can get.
Never before in the history of our country has a political party totally sacrificed the people for their personal gains, self centered goals.
They are well on their way to becoming our countries most dangerous domestic terrorists.

Illegal for politicians to have social media? Get real (and look at Palin's lame twitter and Facebook). I'd be perfect but I'll never pass the political "test" htttp://twitter/.com/igotmyreasons

Hardly illegal. But I wondered whether this was just another dirty trick. The Nixon gang were amateurs compared to the crew that's operating from the right wing now.

Dear Mr. Obama, you should hire me to submit ideas to your think tank. I am already on your payroll as an E-4 in the Army. Yep, I think it's a good idea.

Probably only pays the new Obama Govt Employee average of $150K per year PLUS Benefits and Expenses – – not as much as his 22 'Czars' who get circa $500K per year PLUS B&E. And it probabably means long hours and weekends, unlike the normal Govt Employees and 'Czars' – so beware to apply !

Perhaps the President should set his agenda aside and consider the people's agenda. But, he won't. Democrats always think they know best. Not that they would actually care if they knew their agenda wasn't best. Power. Power. Power. Power.

John asks, "What has he [the President] done that's positive yet?"

Well, he pulled our country back from the brink of a Depression the likes of which we haven't seen since 1929, for starters.

You really need to stop watching (and apparently working for) Fox.
