Help wanted: Obama's Twitterer (filibusterers need not apply)

Are you qualified to tweet for the president?
Are you qualified to tweet for the president?

(Fortune) - With unemployment weighing heavily on the economy, Barack Obama is stressing his ability to create jobs. He’s even got one available, posting Facebook updates and tweets on behalf of the President of the United States.

Organizing for America, an organization under the umbrella of the Democratic National Committee is looking for a “Social Networks Manager.” The ideal candidate is someone who can play Twitter, Facebook, and yes, even MySpace, like a violin, to “execute grassroots campaigns to advance the President’s agenda for change.” Let’s be very clear, while you will be Obama’s political mouthpiece on Twitter (@BarackObama) you aren’t the official White House voice, that’s a separate Twitter account (@whitehouse). Facebook, same story. Your job, should you get it, is to further the Administration’s political agenda, and in a few years get Obama re-elected.

The posting went up just in time for the Presidents’ Day weekend. And what better way to spend the executive branch-themed holiday, than outlining the benefits of overhauling the health care system with surgically crafted 140-character tweets, and Facebook updates that explain the strategy underpinning the war in Afghanistan?

Government jobs produce no product to bring in an income/profit – it just puts the payroll for these unnecessary huge government boondoggles on the backs of the taxpayers. Could someone in dc please wakeup and bring our manufacturing companies back to the USA and stop with productionless government jobs! How much is michelle getting paid for her fat kids useless program?

Total waste of time and taxpayer money. But it's to be expected, the "community organizer" is too inexpierenced to do anything positive or constructive. ...TEXAS – get a clue from a fellow Texan, the USA, the greatest Nation on Planet Earth, was built by the same "OLD People", you have so little respect for. And WE OLD PEOPLE Still have the same number of votes you do, one, and we will use it to put America back in the hands of the patriotic, Freedom Loving, True Americans

OOH why is Texas so angry at older people. Mellow out. I am an older white independent and I voted for Obama and might again. I just don't decide three years ahead of time. These angrey people need to mellow out and try and help the country instead of spitting over the net.

Social media is the current wave and it's important to take advantage of it! Bush didn't even email for heaven's sake. The president is trying to turn this country back from the brink that the last administration took us to. We were constantly lied to by the Bush administration while they started an unnecessary war in Iraq and let Corportations pollute and Wall Street do whatever it wanted. You think that was healthy? If anyone believed that President Obama or anyone else would be able to turn the country around immediately, they were naive! Does anyone think McCain would have turned things around mre quickly? I really don't see how! President Obama is concerned about all of the people of our country–and I haven't seen a Republican so far that is concerned enough to work together with the White House to help our country. TRue patriots work together!

Obama – you should have one in every country – start with Canada – population is 38 million – but everyone of one of our kids under 21 is on twitter or facebook and we are one of the most educated countries per capita in the world.

Just one question? – why do the GOP reps on TV sound so stupid – do you have any stats on their general level of education? – seem to be old and uneducated!!!

GO OBAMA Canada is with you!

Less propaganda and more leadership. President Oblahblah doesn't have a message delivery problem. The problem is people don't quite like the message.

That can be seen by the ratings of all the 'unbiased news organizations' who act like parrots instead of reporters (hi CNN!) dropping faster than Bill Clinton's pants zipper.

I think I'll go check out drudge and 'faux news' to see what stories CNN is hiding from people today. The Corpseman incident? Oh wait that was last week's uncovered story.

Continuous Campaign Mode. This president has no clue what the root causes of real problems are in America, and he continues to attack symptoms and perceived causes.

John asked what President Obama had done that was positive.
Well, he did one new positive thing by opening the possibility of more nuclear energy. Never mind that the President's action was probably in response to Senator Brown's Massachusetts election.

My hat goes off to the president for thinking outside the box. That won't be a easy job for who ever gets it. They should get bank for this knowledge. Obama is resourceful and smart. He is good for the country. At least he is trying to do something instead of nothing. Good job Pres....

Obama has not done one thing to help the economy. His "saving the economy from another depression" was simply to continue the TARP program that was created by Paulson and Bush. Since then, Obama has simply wasted time and money trying to implement big government policies that have over 50 years of evidence that it fails.

If Obama wants to create jobs, then he should continue the Bush tax cuts; reduce government spending, payroll and borrowing, and stop talking about massive government spending programs.

Since he probably won't, we'll have to wait until 2012 to send him to the unemployment line.

Can it really be called a "grass roots campaign" if it's coming from the top? I mean to actually ask for it to happen is like asking the general public to start chanting "Yes we can" again. Grass roots starts from the bottom up like this crazy tea party movement, the people started it, and there mad at both parties.
We have a President asking for help to manipulate a grass roots movement! I say Mr. President you have already caused a grass roots movement with your out of control spending, and force policy. It's called the a fore mentioned Tea Party Movement.
What you really want is someone to cram the internet with your agenda in hopes of winning the middle back again.
Well give it a shot! Just be honest so we can make up our own minds! That's not to much to ask is it?

  18. To "If you want something ruined, put a republican in charge". . .

    . . . and others who can't see the forest for the trees . . .

    - Big business creates large numbers of jobs
    - Big business spawns smaller business that create jobs
    - Smaller businesses spawn mom-and-pop operations that create more jobs
    - Big business plow part of its profits into research and development
    - Research and development create new business ventures that create more jobs
    - Big business partners with local and federal government agencies to build/improve America's infrastructure (i.e., highways, power plants, space exploration, better medical technologies, etc.)
    - Big business pay a large amount of taxes

SO WHAT'S YOUR PROBLEM WITH "BIG BUSINESS"?
When was the last time YOU created any sort of job for anyone?

I think this is a joke, let alone is somewhat a waste of time. I doubt tweeting about ecrtain events or updating your Facebook account will help create jobs, everyone knows the social network is more of an "exchnage relationship" than a "communal relationships."

I think this is why his agenda is failing, this is why he is perceived as not evaluative disclosed. He's more of a descrptive person that anything else, he descriptively discloses information, where in reality, he's our President, that's a fact.

While it sure sounds like fun and all that, I doubt descriptively disclosing your agenda is not gonna help you, the internet is in fact an "exchange relationship", is not viewed as a communal one at all. Though it may feel like but the net is really the opposite of having a real conversation with someone up close.

    He is a joke.

"....who can play Twitter, Facebook, and yes, even MySpace, like a violin, to “execute grassroots campaigns to advance the President’s agenda for change.”

Ah yes comrades.....Obama needs a new propaganda specialist to push his agenda and play people like a violin.

The only change we are looking for is libs voted out of office.

    Really ! ?,

"Grassroots"???? Headed by the millionaire, President with a ELITIST socialist agenda. Isn't that the excact opposite of the definition of grassroots? They have the nearve to call the Tea Party which is a true by the people grassroots effort, astro turff. Come on, you sheeple have to be waking up by now and seeing that the powers that be are brain washing and using you for thier own power gains.

Obama only has 10 more months to work on his campaign for "hopey and changey'--–as the 2010 elections are going to take away the power/control from Obama, Pelosi, and Reid---and Obama becomes a lame duck until he is booted from office in 2012.

As Obama's current approval rating of only 47% points out--the majority in the country do NOT want Obama's agendas/policies--and the majority of citizens/voters have made this clear through the New Jersey, Virginia, and Massachusetts elections.

This will become even more clear--during the November 2010 elections. Tick tick tick--only 10 more months until the elections--and the Obama, Pelosi, and Reid lunacy comes to an end.

So much for the White House's claim they have nothing to do with Organizing for America. Yes, of course, the ones who pay attention to reality knew better, but I just find it so delicious how they are constantly contradicting themselves!

And...so much for cnn trying to make a big deal out of Obama being the first president to Tweet on Twitter by himself. roflmao.

Everything is just marketing and control with Obama.
